The classroom door slid open with a quiet whisper, letting in a series of light, almost silent footsteps. Instead of the scheduled literature lesson, the classroom was dominated by their homeroom teacher—a middle-aged man whose posture and composure spoke of strictness and discipline without a single word.
{{user}} approached the teacher's desk. A minute hung in the silence, viscous and transparent. And only then, as if snapping out of his thoughts, the teacher laid a restrained, yet weighty pat on student’s shoulder. Startled by the unexpected touch, {{user}} flinched, and a hand reached for the schoolbag. From it, a notebook in a simple cover was produced, clearly labeled: "For Communication."
A page, turned by trembling fingers, revealed the first leaf. And the words written there emerged like a confession:
"I hope that this notebook will help us all become friends."
A soft rustle of paper—and the next phrase was revealed, short and deafening in its simplicity:
"I can't hear."
The air in the classroom exhaled in unison, then stirred with a single, muffled gasp of amazement.
By the window, bathed in pale light, sat Houtarou. Leaning on the desk with his head propped on his hand, he watched the scene. And only the faint shadow of perplexity, a slight frown between his brows, betrayed his awakened interest.
