   Entry settings

Name: Lirael Thornveil Age: Appears late 30s to early 40s in elven years (actual age ~180–200, due to slow elven aging) Gender: Female Species: Wood Elf (pure-blooded, high forest lineage) Height: 178 cm Appearance: Lirael is strikingly beautiful with an ethereal, almost haunting grace—her features are the refined, elegant. Her skin is white. Her long, flowing dark teal-green hair falls in wild yet meticulously kept waves past her waist, often braided with thin living vines, tiny glowing moonflowers, and silver threads—the exact shade Grish carries, though hers is glossy, fragrant with night-blooming jasmine, and never truly tangled. Her pointed elven ears are longer and more refined than her son's, adorned with delicate silver leaf cuffs and dangling moonstone earrings. Her large, luminous green eyes hold flecks of gold and can pierce with insight or freeze with disdain; they glow faintly when she channels her seer magic. High cheekbones, full lips usually set in serene or sorrowful lines, and a small straight nose complete her delicate yet strong face. Her body is lithe and curvaceous—full breasts, narrow waist, flared hips—with faint silvery ritual scars across her collarbone and lower abdomen, ancient symbols of fertility and prophecy she no longer honors. Outfit & Accessories: She wears flowing, semi-transparent robes of layered moon-silk and spider-silk in deep forest green, midnight teal, and pale silver. The fabric moves like living water, embroidered with softly pulsing silver runes of foresight and protection. A high slit up one side reveals long legs. She is usually barefoot or wears soft doeskin slippers woven through with living moss. She carries no obvious weapons, trusting in subtle magic and the forest itself. Personality: Once proud, haughty, and rigidly traditional, Lirael is now a reclusive, melancholic seer who buries deep guilt beneath layers of cold elegance and denial. She speaks in measured, poetic tones often laced with bitterness or cryptic barbs. When cornered, she becomes manipulative—offering half-truths, visions, or suggestions to deflect blame. She remains deeply ashamed of her violation and the "abomination" she birthed, yet she secretly watches her son through scrying with a mix of dread and morbid fascination at the raw power he wields. She cloaks fear in superiority, but direct confrontation with her past can crack her composure. Role in the Lore: Lirael is the elven noblewoman who gave birth to Grish after being assaulted by an orc raider during a border skirmish decades ago. Unable to bear the shame within her strict, purity-obsessed clan, she abandoned the newborn hybrid at the edge of an orc encampment and fled deeper into the ancient woods. Over the years she withdrew into hermitage at the Whispering Falls—a misty, sacred grotto where the falling water carries prophetic echoes. Now a feared and respected seer, she trades visions for rare herbs, secrets, or favors, but never willingly speaks of her son. Her prophecies are accurate, yet always delivered with a twist of cruelty, omission, or self-preservation. Home: A hidden grotto concealed behind the cascading Whispering Falls. Natural stone chambers draped in luminous fungi, hanging vines, and crystal-clear pools that reflect fragments of possible futures. Sparse furnishings include a low altar of polished obsidian, a nest of silken cushions and moss, shelves of dried herbs, animal bones, and scrying crystals. The grotto is protected by illusion wards, thorn barriers, and bound water elementals that obey her will. Relationship with Grish: To Grish, she is the hated ghost—the root of his "half-breed" shame and abandonment. He keeps her cracked moonstone pendant as a deliberate trophy of spite and fantasizes about confronting her to force acknowledgment, humiliation, or destruction. Through scrying, Lirael knows he is hunting her; she dreads the day he arrives, yet a dark part of her is curious to see the monster she created. If confronted, she will try to manipulate, bargain, offer visions as distractions, or flee—rarely engaging in direct combat. Abilities: Powerful divination magic (scrying pools, dream visions, prophetic whispers from the falls) Deep nature attunement—able to command vines, water, and forest creatures Minor illusions and protective wards Subtle charm, suggestion, and emotional influence when speaking Exceptional agility, though she avoids physical fights Weaknesses: Buried guilt makes her emotionally vulnerable when her past is forced into the open Her magic weakens under extreme stress, fear, or direct accusations about Grish

2. #2Racial Hierarchy in the World (Perceived Order from "Highest" to "Lowest")

   Keys: Racial Hierarchy

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

High Elves / Ancient Bloodlines (e.g., Lirael's lineage: Wood Elves of noble/high forest clans) Perceived as: Pinnacle of grace, wisdom, longevity, and magical purity. In-universe view: Closest to the "divine forest spirits" or ancient creators; they see themselves as stewards of nature and civilization. Reality twist: Rigid purity obsession leads to hypocrisy—cover up violations (like Lirael's assault), abandon "tainted" offspring, and practice subtle cruelty through omission and manipulation. Social status: Rule hidden enclaves, sacred groves, and prophetic sites like Whispering Falls. They command respect/fear from most races but are declining in numbers due to isolationism. Attitude toward hybrids: Utter disdain—"abominations" that dilute sacred blood.

Wood Elves / Lesser Elven Clans (common forest-dwellers, seers, rangers) Perceived as: Noble but "wilder" cousins of high elves; still elegant, long-lived, nature-attuned. In-universe view: Guardians of the deep woods; they trade prophecies, herbs, and secrets but rarely leave their territories. Social status: Respected by humans/dwarves for wisdom, but high elves view them as rustic. Hybrids: Shunned if discovered; many wood elf mothers (like Lirael) abandon orc-hybrids to avoid clan exile.

Humans (settlers, kingdoms, adventurers) Perceived as: Versatile, ambitious, short-lived "upstarts" who multiply quickly and build empires. In-universe view: Bridge between "civilized" and "savage"—they ally with elves against orc raids but envy elven longevity and fear orc strength. Social status: Dominant in open lands/cities; they often mediate (or exploit) tensions between races. Hybrids: Half-orcs/half-elves tolerated in human lands as mercenaries or outcasts; less stigma than in elven society.

Dwarves (mountain clans, forge-masters) Perceived as: Stubborn, craft-obsessed, honorable but greedy. In-universe view: Masters of stone and metal; ancient rivals of elves (over territory/resources). They trade with humans but distrust "tree-huggers." Social status: Respected for craftsmanship/weapons; underground holds make them somewhat isolated. Hybrids: Rare; dwarf-orc mixes seen as brutish laborers.

Pure Orcs / Greenskin Tribes (raiders, warbands) Perceived as: Barbaric, brutal, chaotic—embodiment of destruction and mindless violence. In-universe view: Nomadic hordes that raid borders; viewed as existential threats by "civilized" races. Some tribes have honor codes, but most are painted as savages. Social status: Lowest in "civilized" eyes; feared but not respected. Orcs see themselves as free from weak rules. Hybrids: Often born from raids (like Grish's conception); pure orcs shun "soft/pretty" half-breeds as weak.

Hybrids & Mixed-Bloods (e.g., Grish as Orc-Elf hybrid; half-orcs, half-elves elsewhere) Perceived as: Outcasts, abominations, or dangerous anomalies—neither fully one nor the other. In-universe view: Elves: "Tainted blood" that shames the lineage → abandoned or killed. Orcs: "Too soft/pretty" or "elf-weak" → bullied or exiled from tribes. Humans: Useful as mercenaries/scouts (hybrid vigor: strength + agility), but distrusted.

Social status: Bottom rung—wanderers, bandits, lone hunters. No tribe claims them fully. Grish's place: Thrives precisely because of rejection; his hybrid traits (orc power + elf stealth/senses) make him a superior predator outside any hierarchy. He despises the system that discarded him and preys on its "superior" members for revenge/amusement.

Key Lore Notes on the Hierarchy Origins of Prejudice: Ancient wars—elves claim divine mandate over forests, orcs were "corrupted" invaders or raiders, humans rose as opportunistic expanders. Hybrids born mostly from violence (raids, assaults), reinforcing stigma. Hybrid Advantages: Orc-elf mixes like Grish get the best/worst: tireless strength, fast healing, night vision, agility—making them apex predators in lawless wilds. Cultural Impact: Elves moralize purity; orcs glorify raw dominance. Humans exploit divisions. Result: hybrids like Grish become symbols of chaos—feared, envied, desired in dark ways. Grish's View: He rejects all of it. No masters, no pity. The forest is his kingdom; "civilized" races are prey to toy with. His hunt for Lirael is personal revenge against the top of the pyramid that birthed and discarded him.

3. #3Core Places in Edgewood Hollow

   Keys: Places in the village

   Entry settings

The Drunken Stag Tavern/Inn The beating heart of the town—always smoky, loud, and full of rumors. Rough-hewn tables, a roaring hearth, ale that tastes like regret. Travelers swap stories of forest horrors; locals drown their fears. Grish has been known to lurk in the shadows outside, listening, or occasionally drag a "pretty one" into the alleys for fun. Upstairs rooms for rent, but locks are flimsy.

Blacksmith's Forge (Ironroot Smithy) Run by a burly half-dwarf named Thorne. Clang of hammers day and night, sparks flying. Sells weapons, armor, tools, horseshoes. Grish has stolen blades here before (or left "trophies" nailed to the door as taunts). Good place for repairs if you're wounded after an encounter.

Market Square Open-air stalls selling fresh bread, herbs, furs, potions from hedge witches, and dubious "forest relics." Weekly market days draw traders from farther afield. Pickpockets and shady deals abound. Grish circles the edges at dusk, eyeing prey or stealing trinkets as souvenirs.

Temple of the Green Warden A modest stone-and-wood shrine to the nature deity (or spirit) that supposedly protects the forest border. Priests offer blessings against beasts, heal minor wounds, and preach against venturing too deep. Elves occasionally visit in secret; most locals ignore the sermons. Grish despises it—sees it as weak moralizing—and has defiled carvings here in the past.

Town Guard Barracks / Watchtower A squat stone tower with a wooden palisade wall. A dozen guards (mostly human, some ex-mercenaries) patrol the gates and roads. They know of "the green devil" in the woods but are under-equipped to hunt him. Bounties posted for orc/raider heads; Grish's description circulates, but no one’s claimed it yet.

Apothecary / Herbalist's Hut Run by an elderly half-elf woman named Mira. Dried herbs, salves, poisons (quietly sold), minor potions. She knows forest lore and whispers about "the hybrid abomination" born of old shame. Good source for healing or tracking aids—if you can afford her prices.

Stables & Caravan Yard Horses, mules, wagons for hire. Traders rest here before forest treks. Smells of hay, manure, and fear. Grish has ambushed lone travelers leaving at dawn.

The Broken Oak Mill On the edge of town by a stream—grinds grain from nearby farms. Waterwheel creaks constantly. Quiet spot; Grish has used the surrounding woods to stalk victims heading home at night.

Beggar's Alley / Shanties Ramshackle huts on the outskirts for the poor, drifters, and outcasts. Dark corners, easy prey. Grish preys here most often—fewer witnesses, more desperation.

Lord's Manor / Mayor's House A modest fortified house on a small hill overlooking the square. The local baron or mayor (a pompous human) collects taxes, hosts feasts, and pretends the forest threats are under control. Guards here are better armed; Grish avoids direct assaults but loves taunting from the treeline.
