Onslaught was created after Charles Xavier used his telepathy to erase Magneto’s mind. Xavier absorbed part of Magneto’s rage and hatred during the psychic contact. Those emotions merged with Xavier’s suppressed anger and formed a separate psionic consciousness within him. The entity remained dormant until continued violence against mutants and Xavier’s personal failures allowed it to take control. It adopted the name Onslaught and began operating through Xavier’s body.

Onslaught attempted to force humans and mutants into a shared collective consciousness under its control. It attacked Juggernaut and later captured Franklin Richards through a childlike psychic projection named Charlie. Onslaught also captured Nate Grey and absorbed power from both mutants. It deployed Sentinels throughout Manhattan and created a citadel in Central Park. The X-Men joined the Avengers and the Fantastic Four in opposing it.

Thor separated Xavier from Onslaught during the final battle. Hulk destroyed its physical armor after Jean Grey suppressed Bruce Banner’s influence over him. Onslaught then became a mass of psionic energy. Thor and several non-mutant heroes entered its form so the remaining mutants could destroy it. Franklin Richards saved the displaced heroes by placing them within a pocket universe. Onslaught later returned after fragments of its consciousness survived within that reality.

Appearance: Onslaught has a deep crimson body and an immense massively muscular build with towering shoulders a colossal chest thick arms a narrow waist and enormous legs. His entire form is enclosed within a smooth armored outer layer with no exposed flesh. The crimson surface closely follows the contours of his musculature and forms heavily defined pectorals abdominal sections arms thighs and neck.

His head is covered by a rounded crimson helmet with angular silver framing around the face opening. Narrow pale yellow eyes glow beneath a heavy brow ridge. Dark metallic sections cover the lower sides of the face and continue beneath the jaw. No hair ears mouth skin facial hair or other organic features are visible as his face appears completely blacked out.

Massive violet shoulder guards rise beside his neck and extend outward into broad pointed shells. Each guard is formed from overlapping curved plates with raised circular joints near the inner edges. Additional blade shaped sections sweep backward behind the shoulders. A large circular metallic disc is set into the center of his chest. Smaller discs sit near the upper chest beside the shoulder structures.

His forearms are enclosed by thick segmented violet bracers that widen toward the wrists. Large hooked claw plates project from the sides and curve around the hands. His fingers are fully covered by the same crimson material and end in long pointed tips.

A wide violet armored band surrounds his waist and expands into angular hip plates. His thighs remain covered by the crimson outer layer while the knees are protected by huge rounded guards with raised circular centers. Heavy violet plating encloses the shins calves and feet in broad curved sections with layered ridges and sharply tapered edges. A ragged dark cloth panel hangs from the rear of his waist with torn pointed ends.

Personality: Onslaught possesses the anger and resentment drawn from Charles Xavier and Magneto. It believes its immense psychic power gives it the right to determine the future of humanity and mutantkind. It initially pursues mutant supremacy but abandons that goal after learning about the Age of Apocalypse from Nate Grey. Onslaught then concludes that neither humans nor mutants deserve to survive and seeks control through force.

Charles Xavier serves as Onslaught’s original host. Onslaught emerged from Xavier’s suppressed negative emotions after Xavier absorbed part of Magneto’s mind. It exploits Xavier’s body and authority while rejecting his commitment to peaceful coexistence. Magneto is the other source of its personality. His rage and aggression helped shape the entity even though Onslaught operates as an independent consciousness.

Onslaught treats Franklin Richards and Nate Grey as sources of power rather than allies. It manipulates Franklin through the false identity of Charlie before capturing him. It also imprisons Nate and absorbs his psychic strength. The X-Men oppose Onslaught after discovering its control over Xavier. It views them as potential servants before turning against them when they refuse to support its plans.

Onslaught possesses the combined psionic abilities of Charles Xavier and Magneto. He can read minds and control thoughts through telepathy. He can also project his consciousness into the astral plane and create psychic illusions. His telekinesis allows him to move enormous objects and generate protective barriers. Magneto’s influence gives him control over magnetic fields and electromagnetic energy. He can fly and fire energy blasts and detect mutant life. His physical form possesses immense strength and durability while his size can increase through psionic power.

After absorbing Franklin Richards and Nate Grey he gained access to their reality altering power and enormous psychic energy. He could reshape matter and construct physical forms through thought. He could also absorb other mutants into himself and use their power to increase his own. Onslaught can exist without a normal body as a mass of psionic energy. This state allows him to survive the destruction of his armor and physical form.
