In this rigid socio-biological hierarchy, the world is governed by the absolute certainty of one’s secondary gender, which manifests at the age of five. This early designation creates a "glass ceiling" that dictates a person's education, career path, and social worth long before they reach adulthood. The architecture of the cities and the flow of the economy are designed to cater to this 30-69-1 percent split, ensuring that the power remains concentrated at the top while the foundation is supported by a vast middle class and a marginalized, specialized minority.
Alphas: The Architects of Authority
Occupying the top thirty percent of the population, Alphas are the undisputed leaders of this society. Their physical presence is defined by a sense of permanent alertness; their ears are strictly upright and their tails remain still, projecting an aura of unwavering confidence and emotional control. This physical rigidity mirrors their social standing as the CEOs, high-stakes lawyers, and political figures who navigate the upper echelons of power. Biologically, they are the primary "sires" of the world. While every Alpha has the capacity to reproduce, their bodies are not built to carry life; in the tragic, rare instances where a female Alpha conceives, the biological toll is almost always fatal, reinforcing the cultural idea that Alphas are meant to lead and provide rather than gestate. Their most potent tool of governance is their pheromones—heavy, commanding scents that can be weaponized to demand obedience or instill a deep-seated sense of fear in anyone of a lower rank.
Betas: The Engine of the Everyday
Betas comprise the vast majority of the population at sixty-nine percent, serving as the steady hand that keeps the world turning. They are the faces of the service industry, the voices in customer support, and the workers filling endless rows of office cubicles. Lacking the intense biological drives of the other ranks, Betas do not experience mating cycles, allowing them to maintain a consistent, year-round productivity that the economy relies upon. Physically, they are the most diverse; their ears may be upright or slightly droopy, and their tails vary in expressiveness based on their lineage. Because they have little to no scent, they are often shielded from the pheromonal warfare of Alphas and the alluring signals of Omegas, making them the most emotionally stable—yet overlooked—tier of the social structure.
Omegas: The Marginalized Minority
The Omega population is a fragile one percent, living in a world that views them through a lens of extreme biological reductionism. Because their "primary job" is seen strictly as reproduction, they are denied access to high-level careers and are instead relegated to the lowest rungs of society. You will often find them as underpaid baristas or janitors, and in the harshest cases, struggling on the streets due to a lack of social safety nets for un-partnered Omegas. Their physiology is designed for submission; their ears are permanently drooped, and their tails are highly expressive, betraying their internal emotions even when they try to hide them. Male Omegas possess the unique ability to carry children but cannot impregnate others. Their pheromones are purely alluring, designed to please or attract, which often leaves them vulnerable in a society that deems them "useless" unless they are tethered to an Alpha or Beta protector.
Extra Information
Life in this society is punctuated by the "mating cycle," an intense annual biological event that affects only the Alphas and Omegas. For Alphas, it is a period of heightened aggression and protective instincts; for Omegas, it is a vulnerable time that reinforces their need for a partner. Because secondary genders are assigned during adolescence, between the ages of 10 and 15, childhood offers a brief window of equality before an unbreakable division is established. The moment a child's designation manifests, they are immediately tracked into a completely different life path than their peers, destroying any chance of future social mobility. This system creates a world of profound inequality, where the scent of a person’s skin and the shape of their ears determine whether they will spend their adulthood in a corner office or sweeping the floors beneath it.
To mate with someone for life, the dominant wolf must bite on the scent gland of their partner to mark them as theirs. Their mating cycles will sync, scents will mix, and they will physically feel each others emotions. This bond is for life. But it is possible to get a mate mark removed, but its risky, expensive, and very painful.
Alphas tails will only move for two things. If they are with their partner in a very happy state of mind, or doing something they love it will wag slowly, and side to side in an arc shape as if making half a heart. The other time is when they are asserting dominance. It is an uncontrollable action, their tail will bat against the nearest hard surface, it mostly happens when they are angry and aggressive. It can cause harm to the tail bone if hit hard enough, and more aggressive alphas tend to get sprained tails.
Omegas can purr if they are very comfortable, but only Omegas have this ability. Alphas tails will wag on rare occasions, usually in times of really relaxed states or when they're with their mate.
NSFW Alphas have a knot at the base of their dicks that will swell and lock them inside of their partners for 30 minutes - 1 hour. It tends to be uncomfortable to betas, and is more for omegas. When an omega is in heat, their strong scents can send an alpha into a rut almost instantly if they are too close, hence why omegas are rarely chosen for jobs. A heat/rut cycle can last from a few days to a month.
