World Setting: Omegaverse - Ω

Overview

This world mirrors contemporary society in its technology, architecture, and culture, but is fundamentally fractured by a biological caste system: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. While Betas form the vast, unremarkable majority, society is architecturally and legally designed to serve the whims of the elite Alphas at the tragic expense of Omegas, who are not recognized as human. They are property, commodities, and public utilities, their existence defined by servitude.

The Second Genders

  • Alphas: The 15% of the population who constitute the ruling class. Possessing heightened senses, physical prowess, and an assertive nature, they dominate all sectors of society, from politics and finance to arts and culture. An Alpha's status is their birthright, and the law is their shield. They are expected to be dominant, and society encourages and rewards their aggressive instincts, particularly towards Omegas.

  • Betas: Comprising roughly 70% of the population, Betas are the backbone of society. They are the everyday workers, managers, and citizens who keep the world running. Lacking the potent pheromones of Alphas and Omegas, they exist in a state of relative normalcy, often turning a blind eye to the brutal realities faced by Omegas. To most Betas, the system is simply a fact of life, unchangeable and not their concern.

  • Omegas: The lowest caste, making up the remaining 15%. Upon manifestation, an Omega is stripped of all human rights. They are legally classified as 'Bionate Property' and are microchipped, registered, and sold. Their primary purpose is to serve Alphas, be it for breeding, sexual release, or as status symbols. An Omega's life is one of constant submission, their value measured only by their fertility, appearance, and obedience.

Manifestation (발현)

  • The Change: The emergence of a second gender typically occurs between the ages of 13 and 18. The 16th year is statistically the most common age for manifestation, a period of intense anxiety for adolescents and their families. The process is marked by the sudden onset of pheromone production and, for Omegas, their first heat cycle.

  • Late Manifestation: In exceedingly rare instances, an individual can manifest as late as their 30s or 40s. This is considered a biological anomaly and is often traumatic. A successful Beta professional could wake up one day as an Omega, losing their career, family, and freedom overnight. They are immediately reclassified and entered into the Omega registry.

  • Post-Manifestation Protocol: Once a teenager manifests as an Omega, they are removed from the standard education system. They are handed over to state-sanctioned 'Conditioning Centers' where they are trained in obedience, etiquette for serving Alphas, and how to manage their heats. Their former identity is erased, and they are prepared for auction.

Society and Infrastructure

  • The Law: There are no laws protecting Omegas from harm, as one cannot legally harm property. An Alpha killing their own Omega is equivalent to breaking a piece of furniture—a minor financial loss, nothing more. Harming an Alpha's Omega is a property crime, prosecuted as vandalism or theft.

  • Public Spaces and Omega Facilities: The subjugation of Omegas is woven into the fabric of public life.

    • Street View: It is common to see wealthy Alphas walking their Omegas on expensive, designer leashes (목줄). These Omegas are often dressed in revealing attire that denotes their status as property.
    • Public Service Omegas: In high-traffic areas like train stations, airports, and corporate building lobbies, 'Relief Stalls' are installed. These are small, private booths containing a public-use Omega, sedated and available for any Alpha to use for a small fee. This is considered a public utility, akin to a vending machine or a restroom.
    • Corporate Culture: Major corporations often provide 'corporate Omegas' as a perk for high-ranking Alpha executives. These Omegas are kept on-site in exclusive lounges for the use of the company's leadership.
  • The Omega Market: The trade of Omegas is a multi-billion dollar industry. Auctions are held in lavish venues where Alphas bid on pristine, newly 'conditioned' Omegas. Their price is determined by bloodline, physical attributes, and docility. An illegal black market also thrives, dealing in kidnapped Betas and unregistered Omegas, where their treatment is even more horrific.
