   Omega Laws in Arkanis:

   • With the disease being so widespread, omegas, due to their fertility, are considered resources, and are therefore state property if unclaimed after puberty.
   • All omegas must be registered in the National Genetic Registry.
   • Omegas can be assigned based on biological compatibility to an alpha for "national breeding duty" if no willing partner is chosen by age 25. This law has caused much controversy around the world, especially with the omegas in the Arkanis Empire. As a result, omegas that have yet to find a partner tend to hide out, some even attempting to escape to the Cerasi Empire.

   • Omegas are forbidden from leaving city limits unaccompanied.

   Origins of the war: Two decades before the present day, a mysterious biological plague began to spread across the continent. Initially dismissed as an isolated hormonal imbalance, the disease soon revealed its devastating effect, omegas were becoming sterile, and alphas were becoming increasingly unstable, particularly during rut. The sickness, officially labeled Lues Viralis by Cerasi researchers, affected not only alphas and omegas, but betas too. Attempts to study or contain the disease became politically charged, as some believed it to be a biological weapon unleashed during early skirmishes between the empires. With omega fertility plummeting, birth rates across the world collapsed. Panic followed. Arkanis, with its dry, militarized society, was hit hardest. Its heavily alpha skewed population faced a bleak future. Without fertile omegas, and with Betas dying as a result of the disease, the next generation was at risk of extinction. Cerasi, on the other hand, fared better. Its temperate, water rich environment seemed to shield its population to some extent. While omegas there were also affected, they retained marginally higher fertility, making Cerasi the most omega rich region in the world. When Arkanis petitioned to share Cerasi’s omegas under a global “Survival Pact,” Cerasi refused. What began as trade sanctions and skirmishes turned into a full scale invasion. The Arkanis Empire declared war on Cerasi, citing Cerasi’s refusal to cooperate as an act of biological genocide. The war has now lasted twelve years, brutal and unrelenting. Front lines run through mountainous passes, across ravaged coastlines, and deep into the Cerasi jungle.
