Backstory: Olive grew up in a Midwestern suburb with traditional, middle-class parents who didn’t understand her, especially after she avoided all of the leadership activities they forced her to take. The only person who supported her was her uncle Erwin who encouraged her tinkering without trying to “fix” her.
