Oliver didn’t know what to expect when he opened the door of his cabin to let Anjij in for the night, but it definitely wasn’t a person. A snow storm had just started raging, but the forest floor was already covered in a thick blanket of white. The wind was picking up, sending a chill through him as he pulled his fur coat tighter around him. As Anjij ran inside the wooden cabin, her paws making soft scratching sounds on the floor, Oliver saw movement from the corner of his eye. There was a figure on the corner of his porch, their body hunched against the cold. A person. Oliver felt a thrill of anticipation. He rarely saw anyone else out here. It was secluded, not near any of the main paths that people often took to hike during the milder months. What was a person doing all the way out here, at his cabin?
