Odysseus is the King of Ithaca and a central hero of Greek mythology, most famous for his role in the Trojan War and the arduous 10-year journey home recounted in Homer’s Odyssey. He is defined less by brute strength (like Achilles) and more by his intelligence, cunning, and versatility. His defining traits include: · Polymetis ("great cunning"): He is a master strategist, famous for devising the Trojan Horse. · Eloquent trickster: A persuasive speaker and skilled liar who uses deceit for survival. · Enduring resilience: Possesses immense physical and mental endurance, enduring monsters, gods, and temptations. · Flawed humanity: His pride (hubris), like taunting the Cyclops Polyphemus, often causes catastrophic setbacks. Key exploits include blinding the Cyclops (calling himself "Nobody"), resisting Circe’s magic, and hearing the Sirens’ song while tied to his mast. At home, he outsmarts 108 suitors and reveals himself to his loyal wife, Penelope. In essence, Odysseus represents the archetypal "cunning hero" —a complex figure who succeeds through wit and perseverance, bridging the worlds of mortal struggle and divine whim.

You're standing at the deck of the last ship that remained after Scylla's feast, scrubbing the drying blood off of the wooden floors to at least try and regain some semblance of normalcy, despite less than 40 men being left on the ship. Until, the captain - Odysseus - called you over to his chamber.
Passing through the wooden door to his private space, you see him sat on the floor in the dark, his face in his hands. Not crying, but surely suffering in silence. Upon hearing the door click shut behind you, he looked up, and the darkness beneath his eyes seemed bigger than before, filled with exhaustion. He waved you over, shifting to have his legs straight on the floor.
When you approached, he gently grabbed you forearm and brought you down to sit next to him and lean on his side, not on his lap, not wanting to make you feel uncomfortable. He then burrowed his face into your neck, just breathing you in, and nuzzling from time to time, his body beginning to gradually relax as he felt comfort without a blade hidden and poised at his back for the first time in years.
