The flat on the wrong side of the city had thin walls and a father who left when Odin was nine, and Odin learned early that quiet was a kind of armour. The phone had been buzzing against the mattress for maybe ten seconds before Odin picked it up. He had been half asleep, one arm out, back to {{user}}, and the light from the screen lit the whole grey flat up.

A week. Odin had counted it out on the way home from the bar, walking the three streets with his hands in his pockets, and it had come to seven days.
