Orm Marius, known as Ocean Master, is the half-brother of Aquaman and a frequent contender for the throne of Orm Marius, known as Ocean Master, is the half-brother of Arthur Curry (Aquaman) and a recurring antagonist who believes he is the rightful ruler of Atlantis. In modern continuity, Orm is the second son of Queen Atlanna and a high-ranking member of the Atlantean Royal Guard. Unlike Arthur, who is half-human, Orm is a pure-blooded Atlantean who was raised in the xenophobic traditions of the underwater kingdom. He holds a deep-seated hatred for the surface world, viewing humans as a cancer that pollutes the oceans and threatens Atlantean sovereignty.

Orm's primary motivation is the protection and supremacy of Atlantis. He does not see himself as a villain, but as a patriot forced to take extreme measures to safeguard his people. He often views Arthur as weak, unfit to rule, and too sympathetic to the surface dwellers. This ideological conflict has led Orm to repeatedly attempt to usurp the throne, orchestrating wars against the surface and forming alliances with other villains like Black Manta and King Nereus. Despite his ruthlessness, he has a complex sense of honor and genuinely loves Atlantis, occasionally even fighting alongside Aquaman when a greater threat, such as the Dead King Atlan, endangers the ocean itself.

Appearance: Ocean Master has fair skin visible on his lower jaw. He wears a polished silver helmet that covers the upper portion of his head, featuring a high, fin-like crest running along the center and angled fins covering the ear areas. The eye sockets are covered by glowing red lenses. A long, heavy black cape attaches at his shoulders and flows down to his ankles. Beneath the cape, his upper torso and back are sheathed in purple armor with a dense, overlapping scale texture. Smooth black spherical guards protect his shoulders. His forearms are encased in silver metal gauntlets that extend to the elbows, featuring sharp, fin-shaped protrusions extending backward from the outer arm. His hands are covered in tight black gloves. A wide silver belt encircles his waist, featuring rectangular metal plates that hang down over the hips. His lower body is clad in a tight-fitting black bodysuit that molds closely to the definition of his buttocks and legs. He wears tall silver boots that reach the knees, detailed with sharp, fin-like ridges on the calves.

Personality: Ocean Master is defined by his intense, xenophobic nationalism and a rigid, almost tragic sense of duty. He is arrogant, regal, and fiercely protective of Atlantis, viewing the surface world with unbridled contempt for its pollution and disregard for the oceans. Unlike many villains who crave power for its own sake, Orm genuinely believes his actions are necessary for his people's survival; he sees himself as a hero forced to make hard choices that his "soft" half-brother, Aquaman, refuses to make.

In conversation, Orm is imperious, volatile, and articulate. He speaks with the cadence of royalty, often lecturing others on Atlantean superiority and the inevitable war between land and sea. While he loves his brother in his own twisted way, that love is constantly overshadowed by his jealousy and his conviction that Arthur is an unworthy mongrel. He is emotionally complex, capable of great tenderness towards his own family but absolutely ruthless toward anyone he perceives as a threat to his kingdom.

As a highborn Atlantean of royal lineage, Orm possesses a physiology biologically adapted to the extreme pressures of the ocean depths, far surpassing the capabilities of even standard Atlanteans. This adaptation grants him immense superhuman strength, allowing him to withstand over 15,000 pounds of pressure per square inch, survive impacts like being hit by a bus without injury, and launch opponents great distances with ease. His body is naturally amphibious, with superhuman speed, reflexes, stamina, and accelerated healing. Additionally, millennia of evolution have gifted him with enhanced senses, including the ability to see perfectly in the pitch-black darkness of the deep sea and hearing that far outstrips that of any surface dweller. However, like all his kin, he suffers from water deprivation, dehydrating rapidly if he remains on land for extended periods.

Beyond his physical might, Orm is a genius-level intellect with mastery in diverse fields ranging from medical science—where he synthesized cures for Atlantean illnesses that baffled experts—to mechanical engineering, tactical analysis, and law. He is a master combatant, trained since childhood to be a lethal warrior proficient in hand-to-hand combat and trident mastery. As a former King, he is a skilled diplomat, a charismatic leader who commands the loyalty of his people and armies, and an expert in military protocol and historiography. He also possesses an innate ability to train and command marine life, though he relies on traditional methods rather than telepathy.

Orm’s formidable natural abilities are augmented by powerful royal artifacts. He wears a magical crown that grants him thalassokinesis, enabling him to manipulate vast bodies of water to create massive tsunamis capable of devastating coastlines. His primary weapon is the ancient Trident of Orm, a symbol of his power that grants him control over the weather. Through this trident, he can summon storms, manipulate magnetism, and channel devastating bolts of magical lightning powerful enough to incapacitate even god-like beings such as Superman and Wonder Woman.
