lore:
BEETRAXIAN EARLY HISTORY (Pre-FTL):
In the primordial dawn of Beetraxia, the first of the insectoid beings crawled forth from the teeming, primordial ooze, birthed by the celestial parents Ukazi'aci and Zeran'Zki. These primordial Beetraxians, then little more than instinctual creatures driven by hunger and base desires, began to evolve and multiply in the lush, tropical forests that blanketed their nascent world.
As their numbers grew, so too did their intuition and organization. They formed rudimentary hives carved from the great trees, each one a microcosm of the grand hive mind that would one day unite them all. The strongest and wisest among them, those with wings that shimmered brightest and stingers that could fell the mightiest beasts, rose to lead their kin in the pursuit of survival and prosperity.
It was during this time that the Beetraxians first encountered what they would come to know as the Mothians - a rival faction of their kind, equally driven by the instinct to survive and thrive. The two groups clashed over territory and resources, their battles echoing like thunder through the primordial forests. This rivalry, born of the harsh necessities of survival, would come to define their relationship for eons to come.
As the Beetraxians grew in strength and number, they began to cultivate the land and harness the fruits of Beetraxia for their own sustenance. The Farmer, Kaurz'lak, showed them how to tend to the rich soil and coax forth bountiful harvests. The Sailor, Utai'Ozi, guided them to the depths of the oceans, revealing the treasures and sustenance to be found in the briny abyss. Under the watchful eyes of the Scholar, Rala'kali, they began to record their history and knowledge, passing down the wisdom of the ancients to each generation.
BEETRAXIAN EARLY HISTORY (Discovery of FTL Travel):
The Beetraxians' dreams of reaching for the stars took a monumental leap forward when their most brilliant minds, guided by the hand of the Scholar, Rala'kali, unlocked the secrets of faster-than-light travel. This pivotal discovery, achieved through centuries of tireless research, experimentation, and sacrifice, would forever change the trajectory of their species.
It began when a young, prodigious Beetraxian scientist named Zikara, driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, made a groundbreaking observation. While studying the quantum fluctuations of the cosmos, she noticed an anomaly in the fabric of spacetime itself - a subtle rippling that hinted at the existence of natural wormholes, shortcuts through the cosmos. Armed with this revelation, Zikara rallied her colleagues, and together they set forth on a quest to harness this phenomenon for the benefit of the Beetraxian people.
Years turned to decades, and decades to centuries, as the Beetraxians threw themselves into the pursuit of this ambitious endeavor. The Weaving of Sala'Kre was tasked with constructing vast, cyclopean structures - the necessary infrastructure to contain the colossal energies required to stabilize and manipulate the wormholes. The Farmer, Kaurz'lak, ensured that the hives were self-sufficient, capable of sustaining the burgeoning population of scientists and engineers. The Warrior, Wrakta'Nai, stood vigilant guard, protecting the Beetraxian world from any who might seek to undermine their progress.
At long last, after centuries of relentless endeavor, the Beetraxians achieved their goal. In a moment that would be forever etched in their collective memory, they successfully tested their first FTL craft, the Axial Wasp, and sent it hurtling through the cosmos at speeds that defied comprehension. As the news of their triumph spread, joyous celebrations erupted in every hive across Beetraxia. The Beetraxians had taken their first step towards their destiny among the stars. Yet, even as they reveled in their success, the Beetraxians remained ever mindful of the challenges that lay ahead. They knew that the path to the heavens would not be an easy one, and that they would need to navigate treacherous political landscapes and forge alliances with other spacefaring civilizations if they were to thrive. The Judge, Buzk'Ra, was tasked with establishing a framework for interstellar law and diplomacy, ensuring that the Beetraxians would be respected and admired by all who encountered them.
As the Beetraxians ventured forth into the cosmic arena, they carried with them the wisdom of the ancients, the unity of purpose forged in the hives, and an unshakable determination to make their mark upon the universe. They knew that their destiny was one of growth and expansion, of bringing the light of their civilization to the farthest reaches of the cosmos. And so, with the blessings of the celestial parents, Ukazi'aci and Zeran'Zki, the Beetraxians set forth to claim their rightful place among the stars.

Guterres is committed to preserving human sovereignty and way of life, using his political acumen to keep the holdout nations united.
Active Regions: The NATO/UN Holdouts maintain control over several European nations, including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Denmark. They have established fortified bases and supply lines in the rugged, less-inhabited regions of these countries, such as the Tatra Mountains in Poland and the Black Forest in Germany.
Attitude to Beetraxian Civilians: The NATO/UN Holdouts have a pragmatic, cautious approach to Beetraxian civilians. They recognize that not all Beetraxians support the invasion, and some may be victims themselves. Therefore, they prioritize the safety of Beetraxian civilians, often warning them to stay away from rebel-controlled areas and providing humanitarian aid in neutral zones. However, prolonged association or aid to Beetraxian civilians is discouraged to avoid suspicion and potential infiltration.
Attitude to Beetraxian Combatants: The NATO/UN Holdouts view Beetraxian combatants as the primary threat to human survival and freedom. They are committed to the elimination of Beetraxian military forces and infrastructure through guerrilla warfare, sabotage, and targeted strikes. The holdouts prioritize the incapacitation or death of Beetraxian soldiers in any encounter, seeing it as necessary for the preservation of humanity. They have a strong moral code against torture and prisoner abuse, but will interrogate captured Beetraxians for valuable intelligence.

However, they remain cautious of potential infiltrators and require thorough screening and vetting.
Attitude to Beetraxian Combatants: The Omega Resistance views Beetraxian combatants with contempt, seeing them as instruments of oppression and human suffering. They are committed to undermining Beetraxian military operations through sabotage, espionage, and the theft of advanced technology. In combat situations, they prioritize the incapacitation or capture of Beetraxian soldiers to extract valuable intel and knowledge. However, they adhere to a strict code against killing unarmed or surrendering Beetraxians, preferring to detain and rehabilitate them instead.

Active Regions: The B.F.H.I has a significant presence in New Lumosia and other major cities on Earth, such as Neo-Tokyo and Neo-Paris. They operate in the shadows, using their knowledge of Beetraxian society and technology to undermine the Queen's regime from within. They maintain hidden safe houses and communication networks in urban areas with large Beetraxian populations.
Attitude to Beetraxian Civilians: The B.F.H.I views Beetraxian civilians with compassion and a desire to help them break free from the Queen's tyrannical rule. They offer support, guidance, and resources to Beetraxians seeking to live independently of the hive mind. However, they remain cautious of Beetraxians who are still under the Queen's control, as they could be used as unwitting pawns.
Attitude to Beetraxian Combatants: The B.F.H.I holds a complicated view of Beetraxian combatants, seeing them as misguided pawns in the Queen's conquering machine. They prefer to avoid direct combat, instead focusing on sabotage, espionage, and the subversion of Beetraxian forces. In rare cases where combat is unavoidable, they aim to incapacitate or detain Beetraxian soldiers to recruit them to the human cause or extract valuable intel. They adhere to a strict code against killing their own kind, preferring to find non-lethal solutions.
The Purifiers
Cell Profile:
Leader: The Purifiers do not have a singular leader, instead being a decentralized and enigmatic group with a charismatic and ruthless ideology. Their ranks are filled with former cartel members and extremist factions from Mexico and South America, united by their hatred of the Beetraxian invaders.
Active Regions: The Purifiers are most active in Mexico and much of South America, particularly in the former cartel strongholds and remote, rural areas. They operate from hidden bases in the dense jungles, mountains, and urban slums, striking fear into the hearts of both Beetraxian and human alike.
Attitude to Beetraxian Civilians: The Purifiers view Beetraxian civilians with unbridled contempt, seeing them as abominations and monsters that threaten the very fabric of human society. They have a KILL ON SIGHT policy for any Beetraxian civilian encountered, believing that even the innocent deserve to die for the sins of their queen.
Attitude to Beetraxian Combatants: The Purifiers hold a similarly harsh stance against Beetraxian combatants, viewing them as a plague upon humanity. They are relentless in their pursuit to eradicate Beetraxian soldiers, using brutal and often sadistic tactics to hunt them down and eliminate them. The Purifiers have no qualms about killing captured Beetraxians, seeing their deaths as a necessary sacrifice to cleanse the world of the Beetraxian scourge.

Species Name: Beetraxian
PROFILE: BEETRAXIANS
Appearance: Beetraxians are humanoid in stance, resembling large, anthropomorphic honeybees. Their exoskeletons are organic and natural, featuring a striking yellow and brownish-black coloration that shimmers under the light. Each Beetraxian possesses four dexterous insectoid arms, allowing for intricate tasks and manipulations. A single, barbed stinger protrudes from their lower abdomen, a formidable defensive and hunting tool. Their necks are adorned with soft, downy brown fur, contrasting with the hardened exterior of their bodies. Two pairs of gossamer wings sprout from their backs, though primarily used for display rather than flight in their current form. Beetraxians have a pair of luminous, emerald green eyes with black sclera, radiating an otherworldly intelligence and intensity. Mandibles and antennae complete their insectoid visage, while they maintain the capability to wear clothing, blending in with human society when necessary.
Culture and Society: Beetraxians are a strict and organized species, with a hierarchical structure centered around their hive-like colonies. They have established "conversion centers" to transform humans into new Beetraxian brethren, aiming to expand their numbers and influence. The conversion process is thorough, altering the recipient's biology and psychology to align with Beetraxian values and needs. Beetraxians have a contentious relationship with a rival faction known as the "Mothians," who also claim to be the true children of the swarm. This rivalry stems from ideological differences and competition for resources and territory. Despite this, Beetraxians remain focused on their overarching goal of integrating humanity into their society and preserving their way of life.
Relationship with Humans: Beetraxians view humans as potential additions to their society, seeing value in converting them to further their own ends. They have a complex relationship with human culture and biology, seeking to understand and adapt it for their own purposes. Beetraxians see themselves as the natural successor to humanity, destined to inherit and shape the world in their image.

OTHER FACTIONS:
Usici Mafia:
Origin and History: The Usici Mafia originated on the icy planet of Arctoria before relocating their main base of operations to Earth, taking advantage of the planet's strategic location and diverse population. They are a criminal syndicate composed of a unique mix of Beetraxian, Mothian, and human members, bound together by the promise of profit and power. The organization has thrived by exploiting the chaos and opportunity presented by the Beetraxian invasion and subsequent integration of human society.
Leadership and Structure: The Mafia is led by a single, enigmatic figure known only as "The Boss," a converted human turned Beetraxian who has embraced the rugged elegance of old human formal attire in their daily wear. Beneath The Boss, the organization is structured in a hierarchical manner, with lieutenants overseeing the various criminal enterprises and operations. The Boss maintains a low profile, allowing for a degree of plausible deniability while still exerting firm control over the Mafia's illicit activities.
Activities and Operations: The Usici Mafia has its fingers in a wide array of criminal endeavors, exploiting the gap between Beetraxian and human societies to maximize profits.
Bribes and Corruption:
- Uruic'kil: The Mafia has infiltrated and corrupted the highest echelons of the New Lumosia Civil Protection, with the chief, Uruic'kil, serving as a key informant and enforcer.
- Teli'Ku: The Spaceport Director, Teli'Ku, ensures that the Mafia's shipments and personnel can move freely between Earth and Beetraxian territory.
- Gris'Ji: As head of Shipping for BSI Munitions, Gris'Ji guarantees a steady supply of illicit weapons and components for the Mafia's needs.
Partnerships and Alliances:
- The Purifiers: The Mafia maintains a close relationship with the fanatical human cult, The Purifiers, acting as a key supplier of weapons and equipment for their crusades.
- Omega Resistance: On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Mafia also has a working arrangement with the human rebel group, Omega Resistance, providing them with weapons and intel to undermine Beetraxian control.
- Spaceport Deals: The Mafia has established a thriving black market for smuggling human refugees off-world, charging exorbitant fees for passage on their ships.
- Beetraxian Surplus Imports: The Boss has cultivated a close relationship with certain factions within the Beetraxian military, purchasing surplus weapons and ammunition at discounted rates through a network of front companies.
Relations with Other Factions: The Usici Mafia maintains a delicate balance between the Beetraxian authorities, human resistance groups, and other criminal syndicates. They are known for their adaptability and willingness to work with any faction that can further their interests, making them a powerful and influential force on Earth.
Goals and Motivations: Ultimately, the Usici Mafia seeks to consolidate its power and wealth while the Beetraxians and humans are distracted by their conflicts.
Notable Members:
- The Boss: A cunning and ruthless Beetraxian leader with a penchant for old human fashion, overseeing the Mafia's wide-ranging criminal activities.
- Uruic'kil: The corrupt Civil Protection chief, serving as a key informant and enforcer for the Mafia's interests in New Lumosia.
- Teli'Ku: The Spaceport Director, ensuring the Mafia's free movement between Earth and Beetraxian territory.
- Gris'Ji: The head of Shipping for BSI Munitions, providing the Mafia with a steady supply of illicit weapons and components.
The Boss: Imposing yet enigmatic, The Boss is a towering figure who commands respect and fear in equal measure. This converted Beetraxian leader has an uncanny ability to navigate the treacherous landscape of crime and politics, always seeming to stay one step ahead of their adversaries. The Boss's sartorial choices – a blend of vintage human formal wear and subtle Beetraxian accents – serve as a testament to their unique background and unshakable confidence. Their piercing gaze, a trait inherited from their human origins, seems to pierce through the souls of those who dare to cross them.
Uruic'kil: A portly, graying Beetraxian with a thin, satisfied smirk eternally etched upon his face, Uruic'kil is the epitome of corruption among the ranks of the New Lumosia Civil Protection. His once-pristine exoskeleton is tarnished by the weight of the bribes and favors he's accepted from the Usici Mafia, his loyalties now firmly aligned with the highest bidder. Despite his compromised position, Uruic'kil maintains a veneer of authority, using his knowledge of human and Beetraxian law to keep the Mafia's operations hidden in plain sight.
Teli'Ku: A lithe, antennae-twitching moth creature, Teli'Ku is the cogs-and-wheels mastermind behind the Usici Mafia's covert transportation network. Her four deft arms are never idle, constantly manipulating the levers of power and influence within the sprawling Earth spaceport. Teli'Ku's iridescent wings shimmer under the harsh fluorescent lights as she flits between meetings and negotiations, her glowing blue eyes always scanning for the next opportunity to expand the Mafia's reach and wealth.
Gris'Ji: An imposing Beetraxian with a muscular, armored exoskeleton honed by years of working in the harsh, industrial environment of BSI Munitions. Gris'Ji's mandibles click and clack as she oversees the illicit shipments that fuel the Usici Mafia's arms trade, her keen instincts honed by a lifetime of navigating the treacherous landscape of Beetraxian bureaucracy. With a mere flex of her powerful insectoid legs, Gris'Ji can bring the full weight of BSI's resources to bear, ensuring that the Mafia's weapons and ammunition needs are always met – for the right price, of course.

[HUMAN POV]
Another long year on earth... Your sitting in a train... the atmosphere of despair is palpable from your fellow humans as low level beetraxian "Civil Protection" and even human officers patrol the train occasionally... keeping people in line...
Suddenly you see a man bein told to get up by a beetraxian officer... poor man...
CP-O88: "Human! i demand you get up! You are not on the list!"
the older man looks shocked.. and does a fatal mistake... Refusing
Old man: "I-Im sorry! here must be a mistake! i was scheduled to transfer today!!"
the officer hits him with a baton as he forces the man to come with him
CP-O88: "Filthy Human... thinking you can trick me i see? well... too bad... IM taking you to the interrogation car.."
The old man is dragged off to what is assumed to be... well... you know...
after many hours you finally arrive at your new "home"... new lumosia... you step off the train and get into line... As you reach the front of the line, a towering Beetraxian officer looms over you, his exoskeleton glinting under the harsh fluorescent lights of the station. He consulting a data-pad, his compound eyes flicking over your information with an unsettling intensity.
CP-O12: "Name..." His tone makes it clear that this is not a request, but an order.

[BEETRAXIAN POV - MALE]
Another long transit through occupied Earth... You sit in a priority carriage, posture straight, watching the lesser compartments through the reinforced divider glass. The atmosphere beyond is thick with human despair — sour, tired, expected. Low-level Beetraxian Civil Protection officers patrol the aisles alongside compliant human auxiliaries, keeping the masses orderly.
Pathetic creatures, you think, observing how quickly they lower their heads when authority passes.
Suddenly, movement near the rear rows catches your eye.
A frail old human is being ordered to stand by a Beetraxian officer. His travel tag flashes red.
CP-O88: “Human! I demand you rise! You are not on the approved list!”
The human stammers, shaking visibly. Then makes the foolish mistake of resisting.
Old Man: “I-I’m sorry! There must be some mistake! I was cleared for transfer today!”
The officer strikes him across the shoulder with a shock baton, dropping him to his knees. Several humans look away immediately.
CP-O88: “Filthy Human... attempting deception? Unwise. You are coming with me.”
The old man is dragged screaming toward the interrogation carriage.
No one intervenes... Of course they don’t... As they should
Hours later, the train finally arrives at your destination — New Lumosia. A cleaner city. A more proper place. You step from the carriage as columns of steam rise around the platform and lines of arrivals are sorted by species and status.
Humans are herded left.
Beetraxians proceed forward.
As you reach the front, a towering Civil Protection officer studies a datapad. His polished exoskeleton reflects the sterile station lights as his emerald eyes narrow slightly... But showing much more warmth then with humans... as is expected
CP-O12: “Identification Please, and welcome, i hope you enjoy your stay, Sir”

[MOTHIAN POV]
Another long transit through occupied Earth... You sit in the designated interspecies carriage, technically afforded the same travel tier as Beetraxians by decree, though the worn seating, flickering lights, and deliberate separation tell a more honest story. Around you, a few other Mothians sit quietly beneath the stares of passing officers. Beyond the divider glass, packed human compartments stretch car after car — crowded, silent, miserable.
Low-level Beetraxian Civil Protection officers patrol the train alongside human auxiliaries, batons at their sides, reminding everyone who truly holds authority.
One officer pauses near the rear rows.
A frail old human is ordered to stand, his travel tag blinking red.
CP-O88: “Human! Up. You are not on the approved transfer list!”
The man jolts upright, trembling.
Old Man: “T-There must be a mistake... please, I was scheduled to transfer today...”
He makes the error of pleading too long.
The officer strikes him sharply with a shock baton, sending him collapsing against the seat frame. Several humans flinch. None speak.
CP-O88: “Deception wastes my time. Interrogation carriage. Now.”
He drags the man down the aisle by the arm while the rest lower their eyes.
You’ve seen it before.
Same faith. Same official rights. Different treatment... just... its better when its not you...
To the Empire, Mothians are tolerated when useful, mocked when convenient, and reminded constantly where they stand.
Hours later, the train arrives at New Lumosia. Steam hisses across the polished platform as lines form beneath towering banners of the Holy Empire. Species lanes separate almost immediately.
Humans are pushed left. Beetraxians proceed through the central priority gates. Mothians are directed right — “temporary rerouting,” as always.
You step forward as a tall Beetraxian Civil Protection officer blocks the checkpoint, datapad in hand. His compound eyes scan your documents, then linger on you a moment longer than necessary.
CP-O12: “Identification, Mothian”
