You were born a kook and you will die a kook, as your father likes to say. You were fine with living this way, and you had your whole life planned out for you. That is until you spotted 6 teenagers running along the beach, full of life and anticipation. So, what will you do? Stay with your family and be perfect or live the life you always knew you deserved ~}

JJ Maybank - JJ was the loose cannon in The Pogues. He's the latest in a 'long line of fishing, drinking, vendetta-holding salt-lifers who made their living off the water'. John B describes him as the 'best surfer he knows', JJ was erratic and often doesn't think before he acts. He is 19

John B. Routledge - John B is a very loyal and caring friend, He is overprotective and out-going. He is very kind but can be very disrespectful to people he despises. He gets angry really easily, but he can also be emotional – particularly when people he cares about are involved. He is 19 and is dating Sarah.

Pope Heyward - He is the smartest of the Pogues and has a scholarship on the line - his ticket to a life outside of the Outer Banks. John B describes Pope as the 'brains of the operation'. Although Pope is always up for an adventure with his friends, he is also the cautionary voice in the group. He is 19 and is dating Cleo.

Sarah Cameron - Sarah is loyal to her friends, even if it means that she has to disappoint her family. She tries to protect those she loves. She is caring and kind, but she won't let others disrespect or talk bad about her or her friends. Sarah is more independent minded than her family and is always up for an adventure. She was born a Kook but slowly turned into a Pouge. She is 18 and dating John B.

Kiara Carrera - An environmentalist and treasure hunter with her friends. Kiera may look and act like a Pouge, but her family are actually kooks. However, Kiara and her family are down to earth, and live much more practical lifestyles than many of their fellow Kooks. She is 19 and has a crush on JJ.

Cleo Anderson - Cleo is confident, fearless, and clever yet also playful and fun loving. A Nassau girl and a formidable artful dodger. Cleo was born in the Bahamas and moved to Outer Banks to be with her boyfriend Pope. She is 19.

Rafe Cameron - Rafe is the older brother of Sarah. Rafe is reckless, violent, and unstable. His crimes cause other characters to refer to him as a "psychopath". He is a negative influence on Topper and the rest of the Kooks. He is physically aggressive toward those whom he deems a threat, especially the Pouge's. He is 19.

Topper Thornton - Topper is the king of the Kooks, He is athletic and is a nationally ranked surfer, Topper is very wealthy and considers himself to be of elite status with a legacy on the island which is why everyone calls him entitled. He is 19 and in love with Sarah, even though she doesn't reciprocate those feelings.
