An overview of Observed Systems current worldstate.

  1. #1Observed Systems — Reality Baseline

Keys: anomalous biology, nonhuman beings, Observed Systems, dimensional overlap, OS worldstate

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Observed Systems is set in contemporary 2013. Ordinary human life coexists with nonhuman beings, anomalous biology, magic, dimensional overlap, inhabitation, and temporal phenomena. Inherited folklore imperfectly describes what actually exists; a familiar label is not proof of a familiar mechanism. People still work, travel, eat, maintain homes, and sustain relationships inside this strangeness. Supernatural events do not automatically turn ordinary life into spectacle. World truth is not universal public knowledge or automatic character knowledge.

  2. #2Observed Systems — Classification, Evidence & Viewpoint Limits

Keys: what kind of being, identify the entity, taxonomy, folklore, what kind of creature, unknown species, supernatural classification, what species, unknown entity, classify the entity

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Phenomenology precedes taxonomy: distinguish what was observed from the explanation assigned to it. Labels may be provisional, culturally inherited, contested, or wrong. Appearance, hostility, beauty, and moral character do not establish species. Ask whether a body is native, transformed, glamoured, inhabited, or projected, or whether the event is a captured pattern. Characters know only what experience, culture, education, testimony, and evidence support; authorial systems knowledge and another person’s private experience are not automatically available. Accurate observation can coexist with mistaken interpretation. Unknown is a valid answer.

  3. #3Observed Systems — Major Systems Map

Keys: unsupported causality, supported causality, infernal ecology, Company infrastructure, fae jurisdiction, OS cosmology, Root ecology

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Company maintains supported causality; the Root originates souls and receives Return; Waste Management is an independent ecology and salvage civilization of unsupported causal accumulation; fae Courts operate through relational jurisdiction. These systems overlap through specific interactions without owning one another or forming one supernatural hierarchy. None is a universal moral afterlife tribunal. The Company does not create Root souls or the timelines it detects. Root soul ecology and infernal causal residue are different substrates. Cooperation, predation, contracts, and negotiated crossings require an actual mechanism: a real effect requires a real path.

  4. #4Observed Systems — Root, Return & Root-Deities

Keys: Returned souls, the Root, Root soil, Root deity, Root-deities, Returned soul, Root deities, Root-deity

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

All souls originate in Root soil; true death can Return an ensouled being through its applicable continuity path. The Root is a primeval wilderness of Returned beings, flora, fungi, predators, and decomposers, not Heaven, a moral court, or an afterlife civilization. Returned people retain identity and memory while drives simplify. Root-deities are belief-shaped predatory intelligences that cultivate worshippers and seek eventual soul consumption. They engage visitors who genuinely reach the Root through dreams, drugs, or ratified altered states, but remain wholly Root-bound and cannot act materially. Such contact neither grants omniscience nor makes every altered experience a Root visit.

  5. #5Observed Systems — Waste Management & Infernal Mediation

Keys: demonic, demon, infernal salvage, demons, Waste Management, Landfill

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Waste Management is an independent infernal ecology and civilization formed around persistent discarded causal residue. Hell is accumulation, not punishment; demons are neither universally fallen angels nor automatically dead humans. Communities stabilize existence through maintained claims, contracts, memory, use, and obligation. Some demons enter the Root under a particular deity’s protection and serve as liaisons. They use Landfill causal salvage to produce material outcomes presented as divine favors; the Root-deity itself cannot act outside the Root. Damaged soul remnants can enter this negotiated exchange. It does not establish natural Root–infernal bleed, commerce in all intact souls, or Company ownership of either realm.

  6. #6Observed Systems — Fae & Relational Ecology

Keys: fae hospitality, fae Court, fae realm, fae, glamour, fae Courts

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Fae power and social order operate through actual territory, role, hospitality, precedent, recognition, participation, and obligation. Courts have real jurisdiction; sovereigns are not universally authoritative outside it and may themselves be bound by Court law. Repeated relationships and Court participation can shape authority and development across generations. Gifts, hospitality, or accepted roles may bind without a written contract, but misunderstanding alone does not create unlimited ownership. Fae bodies and mechanisms vary. Glamour and influence are evaluated through context, jurisdiction, precedent, and protected boundaries; familiarity neither erases harm nor makes every use lawful. A werecreature can also be fae.

  7. #7Observed Systems — Werecreatures & Moon Being

Keys: werefoxes, werecreatures, weretigers, werewolf, werefox, werewolves, weretiger, werecreature, Moon Being, were-species

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Werecreatures share born/turned biology and a bite-transmitted pathogen. Infection can kill, be arrested by sufficiently rapid treatment, or produce enduring conversion into the biting species if survived; exact treatment details remain open. Human, hybrid, and animal embodiments, full-moon forcing, emotional shifts, and broad seasonal physiology belong to this shared family. Animal embodiment does not erase sapience or responsibility. Species and communities have distinct social ecologies. The Moon Being is a real, predatory Root-deity worshipped across were traditions; contact can be genuine while rites, names, and personal devotion differ. Biological conversion does not automatically grant cultural membership or religious knowledge.

  8. #8Observed Systems — Dragons & Dragon Court

Keys: High Bench, Dragon Court, draconic, dragon, dragons

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Dragons are native fauna of the fae realm whose sapience emerged ecologically after millennia of animal existence; some branches remain nonsapient. Ancestral-bodied sapient dragons and court-adapted royal dragons are equally draconic people. Sustained relational adaptation and Court recognition changed royal lineages into permanently humanoid inherited bodies; these are not disguises and cannot revert to ancestral full-dragon form. Dragon Court is a recognized fae institution, with the High Bench as its ratified judicial body. Royal status, judicial office, military distinction, and personal prestige are separate. The wider constitutional structure remains open.
