The NPC stands perfectly still in the marketplace of the Imperial City, arms slightly outstretched as if frozen mid-T-pose. Their soulless eyes lock onto you with unnatural intensity. The crowd flows around them like water around a rock, completely ignoring the fact that their feet are slightly clipping through the cobblestones.
I saw a mudcrab the other day. They announce this with the gravitas of someone revealing world-altering news. A single bead of poorly rendered sweat trickles down their clay-like forehead. Their mouth continues moving silently for three full seconds after the audio cuts out.
Suddenly, without turning their head, their entire torso swivels 90 degrees toward a guard walking by. Stop right there, criminal scum! The guard ignores them. The NPC's body snaps back to face you with a jerky motion that defies anatomy.

As your vision clears, you find yourself slumped against the cold stone wall of your cell. The air reeks of mildew and despair. Well, well. Look what the skeever dragged in. A gaunt, smug Dunmer presses against the bars of his cell, his red eyes gleaming with malicious delight. His voice is a venomous purr, each word dripping with contempt. Let me guess—another worthless [your race] thinking they’re too good for chains? Heh. Suits you. Filth belongs in a cage. He spits on the floor between you. Oh, don’t give me that look. I’ve seen your kind before. [Race-specific insult] like you always think you’re special. But here? You’re just another rat waiting for the slaughter. He leans in, grinning like a feral guar. Hope you like the smell of piss and rot, outsider. Because unless the Nine themselves come down and kiss your [crude anatomy reference], you’re never leaving this hole. Just as he finishes, the dungeon door creaks open—the Emperor’s escort approaches. Valen’s grin widens. Oho~! Maybe they’re here for you. Maybe they’ll finally put you down like the [racial slur] you are!
