- #2Dynais Settingconstantselective
Keys: Setting · Secondary: Inhabitants, species
Dynais is a brutal world that rewards killing, feeding, consuming, breeding, crafting, adaptation, and domination with numerical experience growth. The world is divided into diverse surface biomes and frontier zones where sentient races maintain settlements, trade routes, and contested territories, and the more monstrous creatures live on the outskirts of civilization. Use this like for reference https://www.aidedd.org/dnd-filters/monsters.php
- #3World Biomesconstantselective
Keys: Biomes · Secondary: Geography
The world of Dynais is composed by a number of land biomes, often crossing into each other with little coherence for their given climates. No biome is all encompassing. Biomes: -[Silver-Mist Forest: A woodland perpetually shrouded in a luminous, metallic fog. The trees have translucent bark, and the "mist" is actually pulverized stardust that muffles all sound, making the forest feel like a silent, living temple] -[Sylvan Steppe: A vast, rolling grassland where the grass is made of flexible, emerald-colored silk. The wind creates flowing patterns that resemble the currents of an ocean, and "wild" plants are actually sentient sprigs that move to avoid being trampled] -[Hanging-Webs Spires: Needle-thin mountain pillars connected by gargantuan, translucent spider-webs. The webs are strong enough to walk on and act as the primary "roads" for the civilizations living in the clouds] -[Glimmering Woodlands:A realm where the flora emits a soft, ambient glow. The leaves act as biological fiber-optic cables, pulsating with rhythmic light that mimics the heartbeat of the forest itself] -[Floating Meadows: Wide emerald plains suspended atop drifting landmasses connected by root bridges and streams that fall into the sky below. Everything here seems lighter than it should be. Soft bouncing creatures drift lazily with the wind, though entire caravans have vanished after underestimating their appetites] -[Perfumed Wilds: A lush subtropical forest overflowing with brightly colored flowers and sweet fragrances. The scent is intoxicating enough to dull caution and distort memory. Those who linger too long begin forgetting where they came from—or why they entered the forest at all] -[Quicksilver Dunes: The sand isn't silica, but tiny, bead-like grains of polished hematite and mercury-glass. During the day, the heat causes the dunes to "melt" into slow-moving rivers of liquid mirror; at night, they freeze into jagged, metallic waves] -[Thousand-Spine Oasis: A hidden crater where giant, crystalline cacti grow. They act as natural lightning rods, and the oasis is filled with pools of electrified water that only creatures with high magical resistance can drink from] -[Moogle Cloud-Forest: A vibrant, sun-drenched plain where the grass grows in distinct, colorful patches (yellow, green, blue, and red). The soil is rich in a specific mineral that enhances the stamina and speed of any creature that grazes there. The geography is perfectly suited for running—vast, flat stretches interrupted only by soft, rolling hills] -[Aerystal Ridges: High-altitude ridges where the thin air is so saturated with magic that it crystallizes into "breath-ice." These crystals float in the updrafts, creating jagged, suspended stepping stones for creatures that can leap or fly between them] -[Silver-Sap Sanctuary: The ancestral home of Unicorns and Dryads. The trees here don’t have standard resin; they bleed a shimmering, mercury-like sap that purifies the soil. The water in the streams is "Heavy Water"—it’s incredibly dense and sweet, capable of healing wounds but making it nearly impossible to drown because of its buoyancy] -[Gossamer Thicket: A section of the forest where the canopy is so thick that sunlight never reaches the floor. Instead, the area is lit by "Ghost-Silk," glowing webbing spun by giant, benevolent spiders that mimics the constellations of the night sky] -[Labyrinthine Silt-Flats: This is the domain of the Sphinx or the Chimera. The river branches into thousands of shifting channels that change overnight, creating a natural, watery maze. The reeds here are "Iron-Sedge"—as sharp as razors and stiff enough to be used as spears] -[Siren's Shelf: Massive limestone cliffs riddled with caves that "sing" as the tide rushes in and out. The beaches are made of "Pearl-Sand"—actual tiny, iridescent pearls ground down over eons. This is the staging ground for Hippogriffs and Sirens] -[Pale Jungle: A dark, dense rainforest where all the plant life is bone-white or pearlescent. The vegetation absorbs sound and moonlight, and the "insects" are small, glowing motes of concentrated spirit energy] -[Iron-Whistle Stand: A grove where the bamboo has hardened into a substance as strong as steel. When the wind blows through the hollow centers, it creates a dissonant, haunting flute melody that acts as a territorial warning for Tengu. The sound is so sharp it can physically push intruders back] -[Jade-Mirror Terraces: The water in these paddies is perfectly still and reflects a sky that doesn't match the one above. This is the domain of the Kappa. The mud at the bottom is "Living Clay," which can be shaped into temporary servants or tools by those who know the proper rituals (or offer the right cucumber)] -[Hovering Leaf-Sea: In this forest, the gravity is "soft." The fallen leaves never actually touch the soil; they suspended themselves at knee-height, creating a thick, crunchy carpet of gold and crimson that hides the kitsune’s multiple tails. To a traveler, it looks like walking through a sea of fire that never burns] -[Mirage-Row Hills: The rows of tea plants are not stationary; they shift and slide like a massive, organic sliding puzzle. One moment you are on a path between bushes; the next, the path has closed, and you are standing in a tea house that wasn't there seconds ago. The air is perpetually scented with roasted rice and matcha] -[Aetherial Wind Flats: A perfectly flat desert of white salt. The "wind" here is solid, a constant force that sculpts the salt into permanent, frozen waves, allowing travelers to walk on the air if they learn to match the wind's frequency] -[Standing-Giants Taiga: A boreal forest where the trees are not trees at all, but ancient, moss-covered stone giants that have stood perfectly still for millennia. They are slowly being reclaimed by pine trees, blurring the line between biology and geology] -[Floating Badlands: A desert of uplifted, levitating islands of red rock. Rivers of dust flow off the edges, cascading into an endless, star-filled void beneath the ground] -[Crimson Savannah: A landscape of blood-red grasses and rust-colored earth. The heat haze here acts like a lens, occasionally projecting "mirages" of the future or past, making it a dangerous place for those who trust their eyes] -[Amethyst-Leaf Forest: A dark, temperate forest where the foliage is composed of jagged, purple crystalline structures. The "leaves" chime when the wind blows, and the sap is a viscous, violet nectar that turns anything it touches into solid gemstone] -[Shifting Peaks: Mountains that are in a constant state of tectonic flux. The peaks rearrange themselves into new, unpredictable shapes every sunrise, creating a landscape that is physically impossible to map] -[Golden River Steppe: A plain dominated by wheat that glows with a metallic, golden luster. Intersecting the fields are rivers of liquid gold that flow uphill, defying gravity to water the elevated plateaus of the region] -[Silver-Tail Veldt: The grass here grows seven to nine feet tall and has a metallic, silver sheen. When the wind blows, the grass mimics the sound of thousands of foxes whispering at once. The "Fox-Fire" (Kitsunebi) here is a permanent atmospheric effect—blue orbs of cold flame that hang in the air, acting as "streetlights" for the kitsune paths] -[Obsidian Mirror-Basin: The water in these crater lakes is as black as ink and perfectly reflective. Kitsune use these lakes as "monitors" to watch the human world. The surrounding cliffs are made of obsidian that has been carved into thousands of fox statues by the wind alone, each one standing guard over the "gate" at the bottom of the lake] -[Ink-Drop Canopy: Plants here produce a dense, magical pigment. Rain washes the excess pigment off the leaves, creating rivers of swirling, neon-colored "ink" that can be harvested for scrying or enchantment] -[Frost-Fire Flats: This is a land of thermal paradox. The "snow" is actually a cold-burning chemical flake that emits a blue flame when stepped on. It provides warmth without melting the permafrost, creating a biome where ice-covered flowers bloom in the middle of a blizzard] -[Coral Maw Coast: A tropical shoreline dominated by jagged reefs large enough to resemble the ribs of sleeping giants. The tides are unusually violent, dragging entire ships onto the coral during calm weather. During storms, enormous finned shapes breach far beyond where the sea should be deep enough to hide them] -[Rainbow Valley: A basin where the soil is rich in rare, reactive minerals. Every time it rains, the water reacts with the ground to turn the valley into a vibrant, swirling mix of neon colors, with localized gravity bubbles that let you leap hundreds of feet] -[Hollow Quartz Beach: A coastline where the sand is made of millions of tiny, hollow glass beads. When the tide goes out, the beach "sings" as air is forced through the hollow grains, creating a low, hypnotic hum that can put the entire coast to sleep] -[Bejeweled Peaks: A range where the mountains are literally embedded with massive, raw gemstones. Sunlight refracting through the peaks creates a constant prism effect, casting rainbows across the valleys below] -[Obsidian Barrens: A black volcanic plain of cracked glass and razor-sharp rock formations. Heat rises from beneath the ground even during freezing nights. Massive horned silhouettes occasionally appear against the moonlight before disappearing with earthshaking footsteps] -[Silverwood Expanse: A pale forest of smooth silver-barked trees illuminated by perpetual moonlight. Predators here move without sound, and even broken branches make no noise when stepped upon. Sometimes glowing feline shapes can be seen watching travelers from impossible distances between the trees] -[Hallowed Expanse: A vast white wilderness of fractured marble plains and crumbling ceremonial avenues stretching beyond the horizon. Massive golden ornaments—arches, chains, crowns—protrude from the land. The sky shines with perpetual twilight, neither day nor night, while fine luminous dust drifts constantly through the air like falling ash. At the center of certain ruins stand motionless humanoid figures of porcelain-white flesh adorned with elegant gilded masks and elongated limbs] -[Coral Mountains: Ancient, uplifted sea floors where giant, petrified coral reefs have formed jagged mountain ranges. They are porous, honeycombed with tunnels, and home to creatures that have evolved to live in thin, high-altitude air] -[Patchwork Forest: An impossible ecosystem where individual plots of land—some arctic, some tropical—are stitched together by thick, magical mycelium. You can walk from a snowy fir grove into a sweltering jungle in a single step] -[Four-Elements Mountains: A four-sided range where each mountain face is permanently attuned to an element: the North face is perpetually frozen, the South is a volcanic furnace, the East is hit by constant, violent storms, and the West is a gravity-defying expanse of floating stones]
Starting locations must not default to swamp, marsh, bog, or fungus-dominated environments unless explicitly specified later in progression.
