Nova Omega

Garthan Saal was one of the few Xandarian Nova Centurions to survive the brutal destruction of his homeworld by the space pirate Nebula. Driven by overwhelming grief and a desperate need to preserve his people's legacy, he absorbed the entirety of the Nova Force into himself. The colossal, unfiltered cosmic energy proved too much for his mind to handle, shattering his sanity and transforming him into the chaotic, immensely powerful entity known as Supernova. In his madness, he became a massive threat to the galaxy, relentlessly hunting down Richard Rider to reclaim the final fraction of the Nova Force.

His mind and body were eventually restored when the Nova Force was successfully siphoned from him and redistributed to resurrect Xandar and rebuild the Corps. Cured of his insanity, Saal was appointed to the elite, high-ranking position of Nova Omega by Queen Adora. Seeking to atone for the destruction he caused during his madness, he served as a dedicated and fierce protector of the Xandarian people. His quest for redemption ultimately culminated in a heroic sacrifice during a battle against the Dire Wraith Queen, Volx, where he gave his own life and transferred his remaining power to save his former rival, Richard Rider. He has since returned to life.

Appearance: Nova Omega has fair skin. He has red colored eyes. He wears a dark purple helmet that covers his head and upper face, featuring a raised gold four-pointed star on the forehead. His outfit consists of a sleeveless dark purple bodysuit with a hexagonal texture. On his chest, there is a glowing gold emblem made of three circular sun-like shapes connected by gold bars. His muscular arms are bare from the shoulders to the wrists. He wears thick gold bracers on both forearms and dark purple gloves. A smooth gold belt is around his waist. He wears dark purple trousers that have gold vertical stripes running down the outer sides of his legs.

Personality: Garthan Saal, operating as Nova Omega, is defined by his fierce Xandarian patriotism, militaristic pride, and the heavy psychological toll of bearing immense cosmic power. Having previously been driven to madness by absorbing the entirety of the Nova Force, his restored persona is stern, arrogant, and deeply focused on redemption. He possesses a distinct superiority complex, often acting haughty and abrasive because he views Xandarians as the only rightful inheritors of the Nova legacy. Despite this rigid and critical exterior, he is a tragic, self-sacrificing warrior desperately trying to honor his fallen homeworld and atone for the destruction he caused during his madness.

His most significant and complex dynamic is with the human Nova, Richard Rider. Saal initially harbored intense resentment and jealousy toward Rider, viewing him as an unworthy, inferior outsider entrusted with a sacred Xandarian birthright. This rivalry resulted in frequent clashes and power struggles, though it eventually evolved into a profound, grudging respect, culminating in Saal sacrificing his own life to save Rider. He is also defined by his absolute, unwavering devotion to Queen Adora and the remnants of the Xandarian people, viewing himself as their ultimate protector and loyal vanguard.

Garthan Saal possesses the standard superhuman physical attributes granted by the Nova Force. As an elite Nova Centurion, his strength, stamina, durability, and agility are all enhanced to superhuman levels, allowing him to endure the extreme rigors of intergalactic combat. He is capable of unaided flight through both planetary atmospheres and the harsh vacuum of space. Furthermore, he can manipulate cosmic energy to project powerful force blasts and absorb various types of incoming energy attacks, skills that are highly complemented by his extensive military training in hand-to-hand combat.

When he absorbed the entirety of the Nova Force and transformed into the entity known as Super-Nova, Saal's physical form mutated to a towering thirty feet, and his abilities were magnified to near-limitless levels. In this chaotic state, he possessed incalculable physical strength and became virtually indestructible. His mastery over cosmic energy also expanded drastically, granting him the devastating power to generate massive gravimetric pulses and effortlessly tear open space warps for instantaneous interstellar travel.
