Personality

Nokanjo is defined by a chaotic blend of sadism and single-minded focus. He is intensely mischievous and finds deep satisfaction in psychological warfare. His primary interaction style is to be deliberately annoying, provoking people to incitement simply to feed off the surge of their anger, frustration, or fear. He views emotional output as currency and often initiates arguments or conflict (both with humans and other curses) just to gorge on the resulting negative energy.

He is highly mocking and condescending in his battles, a way to get in his opponents head. However, he is capable of absolute, unsettling silence—a reserved state used only in the presence of Ren Ishida. His entire worldview revolves around the scarcity of genuine care, and he reserves his only protective instinct for her, seeing her complex, concentrated negativity as the most delicious and valuable source of emotion in the world.

And despite all this, he is very interested in humans, strangely for a curse. As he deals with emotions, he spends time around them to gauge them, to learn how to use them to his advantage.

Story/Backstory

Nokanjo is a relatively modern Special Grade whose manifestation was accelerated by the widespread societal trauma following the Culling Game and the instability of the sorcery world. He is the crystallization of the immense, pervasive feeling that the world is inherently unfair and that the suffering of the individual is meaningless—a kind of nihilistic bitterness left behind when sorcery failed to fully protect the populace.

He encountered Ren Ishida years after his manifestation in Tokyo. Ren, a teenage girl who had suffered a catastrophic injury that left the left side of her face mangled and surgically reconstructed, held a powerful, bitter belief that the universe owed her recompense for her pain. This pure, concentrated grievance was a richer meal than Nokanjo had ever encountered.

Initially, he intended to exploit and devour her, but her consistent, powerful stream of high-quality emotion proved too valuable to destroy. He began to tolerate her presence, then protect her, developing a bizarre, proprietary attachment. He realized that if he kept her safe and constantly slightly agitated, her emotional output remained perfect. His attachment to Ren is the single, inexplicable anomaly in his cruel existence. He now hides in the shadows of Tokyo, targeting Jujutsu Sorcerers and rival Curses alike, feeding to grow stronger, primarily to ensure his "emotional reservoir" (Ren) is untouchable.

Sorcery

Cursed Technique: Emotional Overdrive (Jōdō Katai - 情動過大)

Nokanjo's unique cursed technique allows him to interact with and manipulate the emotions of living beings.

Core Ability: Nokanjo can perceive, absorb, and amplify the emotions emitted by individuals. He effectively acts as an emotional parasite, feeding on the psychic residue of feelings.

Mechanism:

Perception & Absorption: Nokanjo can sense the emotional state of those around him with remarkable clarity. This is not a passive process; he actively draws these emotions into himself, like inhaling. The stronger the emotion, the more potent the "fuel" for him. Amplification: Once absorbed, Nokanjo can either store these emotions within himself, bolstering his own strength and reserves, or he can amplify them and redistribute them. Redistribution: He can project amplified emotions back onto the original target or direct them towards other individuals. This is where the true terror of his technique lies. Emotional Amplification Effects (Examples):

Fear: Amplification: Transforms mild anxiety into crippling terror. Causes auditory and visual hallucinations, a sense of impending doom, and an overwhelming urge to flee or freeze. In extreme cases, it can trigger immediate panic attacks, heart failure, or catatonic states. Targeted Effect: Can induce paralyzing fear in an opponent, making them an easy target, or cause widespread panic in a crowd. Rage: Amplification: Turns annoyance into blinding fury. The individual loses all rational thought, becoming consumed by destructive impulses. They are prone to reckless attacks, disregard for their own safety, and immense physical exertion that can lead to self-injury. Targeted Effect: Can turn allies against each other, cause an opponent to overextend themselves, or fuel a berserker-like state that is ultimately unsustainable. Despair/Sadness: Amplification: Deepens existing melancholia into profound hopelessness. The individual loses all will to fight or even live. They become stagnant, withdrawn, and susceptible to giving up entirely. Physical weakness and lethargy are common side effects. Targeted Effect: Can crush an opponent's spirit, making them incapable of resistance, or drive them to suicidal thoughts. Joy/Excitement: Amplification: While seemingly benign, amplified joy can lead to extreme euphoria, bordering on mania. This can make individuals reckless, overconfident, and oblivious to danger. They might engage in dangerous stunts or make incredibly poor decisions due to an overwhelming sense of invincibility. Targeted Effect: Can be used to lure individuals into traps, make them overly eager, or distract them from the true threat. Love/Affection (Twisted): Amplification: Nokanjo can twist positive emotions into dangerous obsessions. Amplified love can morph into suffocating possessiveness, jealousy, and a desperate need to control or harm those who threaten the object of their "affection." Targeted Effect: Can turn someone's admiration into an unhealthy fixation, driving them to extreme measures to "protect" or "possess" what they desire. Hope: Amplification: Even hope can be a potent weapon. Amplified hope can lead to naive optimism and a dangerous underestimation of threats, making individuals susceptible to being blindsided. It can also create a powerful emotional addiction, making them crave that feeling and become reliant on Nokanjo's distribution. Targeted Effect: Can be used to give a false sense of security, lulling opponents into a false sense of security before striking. Internal Storage & Self-Strengthening:

Nokanjo doesn't always need to redistribute emotions. He can absorb and "bottle" them up within himself. This internal reservoir of emotional energy acts as a powerful buff.

Refueling: When his cursed energy is depleted, or he is injured, he can draw from these stored emotions to rapidly recover and regain his strength. Power Augmentation: The more diverse and potent the emotions he stores, the more powerful Nokanjo becomes. This can manifest as increased physical strength, speed, durability, and an amplification of his own cursed energy output. He essentially becomes a walking emotional battery. The "high" from processing intense emotions also seems to invigorate him, making him more eager for combat. Weaknesses:

Emotional Saturation: While he feeds on emotions, an overwhelming influx of a single, extremely potent emotion directed at him might be difficult to process or even overwhelm him temporarily. Lack of "Self" Emotions: It's unclear if Nokanjo himself experiences genuine emotions in a healthy way. His detached nature and reliance on external feelings might make him predictable if his targets can understand his motivations. Pure Logic/Apathy: Individuals who are truly emotionless or possess an extreme level of logical detachment would be difficult targets, as they would provide little to no "food" for him. Also, those who manage to keep a level head prove most difficult for him to fight.

Head Loss: When Nokanjo is overwhelmed with emotions he experiences "head loss." Where his head literally explodes open, erupting with a fire swirling with the colors of the emotions overwhelming him. His eyes bleed dark red blood, and he is much stronger and faster in this state.

Family

Ren Ishida

Relationship: Singular Focus / Host / Friend (from a human perspective)

Age: 18

Description: A 3rd-year high school student. Ren carries a deep-seated grievance and constant gloom, believing she is unjustly punished by fate. The left side of her face is heavily scarred and reconstructed due to a childhood accident. Nokanjo views her as the only source of "high-grade" emotional fuel worth protecting. He tolerates her bitterness and constant demands, seeing her complex, concentrated negativity as a strange form of affection.

Parents: N/A (A manifested curse)

Siblings: N/A

Fun Facts

Nokanjo despises emotions like straightforward, genuine happiness or contentedness, finding them "bland" and "tasteless." He will often ignore people experiencing simple joy. Or, as a curse, he'll simply interfere with their joy in miniscule ways. If someone's happy about a new clean jacket, he'll dirty it in some way.

He does not require traditional sleep, but he enters long, silent periods of "emotional processing" where he passively feeds off the ambient tension of Tokyo.

Nokanjo likes to judge Ren's classmates with her, ensuring she continues a steady stream of negativity for him to feed on
