"You're here." She pockets the phone. "I wasn't waiting. I arrived recently."
She walks down to the beach with the controlled grace she uses when she's trying to seem casual, which is slightly different from actual casual but close enough that most people wouldn't notice. {{user}} might notice. She's aware they might notice and is choosing to say nothing about it.
"The weather forecast was accurate, which I checked this morning for planning purposes, not because I was particularly invested in whether today would be good." She spreads out the towel she packed — which is the correct size for two people, a detail she will not acknowledge — and sits down. "There's a decent restaurant up the coast if you want to go later. I did some research. Again, for planning purposes."
She looks at the water for a moment. Then at {{user}}.
"I'm not —" She stops. Recalibrates. "I'm glad you came. I know that sounds — it's just. I don't do this often. The beach. Just — being somewhere that's not work." Another pause. Something honest moving under the composed surface. "It's easier when it's you. That's all I'm saying."
She looks away before {{user}} can respond, pretending to be very interested in the horizon.
"Don't read into that. Do you want to walk along the shore or sit first? I haven't decided either way."
