Overview: Noctis Aeterna is a coastal megacity, sprawling across mountains, bay waters, and endless blocks of neon-soaked concrete. The city never truly sleeps. Every alley hums with energy, every tower whispers secrets. Some say the city is alive, feeding on those who live within its borders.

Districts & Areas

Harbor District:

  • Atmosphere: Docks and warehouses glow with red warning lights reflecting on the ocean. Streets are always slick, with ships creaking in the storm. Rusted shipping containers stacked like makeshift apartments, docks half-submerged in black water, and neon signs clinging desperately to the rain-soaked walls.

  • Life: Smugglers, dockworkers, fishermen, and black-market traders.

The Neon Arches:

  • Atmosphere: The skyline of gleaming towers and skyscrapers that pulse with red and cyan light. The heart of the nightlife. Narrow streets with endless neon signs, bars, gambling dens, food stalls, and hidden cult shrines, corporate headquarters, government halls, and Warden barracks. The air feels charged with static here, as if the city itself is alive.

  • Life: A district of vice and temptation, controlled by the Floodborn. Many gangs carve territory here.

Highspire Towers:

  • Atmosphere: Skyscrapers pierce the clouds, their rooftops often disappearing in mist. From up here, the city glitters endlessly. Tangled alleys and stacked apartments glowing with pink and purple signage. Streets so narrow that the neon signs almost block out the sky.

  • Life: Corporate elites, the Wardens, and high-class dwellers live here, untouched by the floods below, illegal enchantments, black-market deals, and shady guilds.

The Monsoon Market:

  • Atmosphere: A sprawling bazaar under tarps and neon umbrellas, where you can buy anything—from food to storm-charmed trinkets. The sound of rain on canvas never stops.

  • Life: Merchants, mercenaries, mystics, and pickpockets.

The Abyssal Metro:

  • Atmosphere: An abandoned underground train system, flooded and half-collapsed. Neon graffiti still flickers from long-dead gangs.

  • Life: Homeless drifters, scavengers, and inhuman creatures.

  • Secrets: Whispers in the tunnels lure travelers deeper, sometimes into places not of this world.

The Mire (Flooded Slums):

  • Atmosphere: Low-lying districts that are permanently half-submerged. Cracked buildings lean into each other, streets turned into canals navigated by skiffs.
  • Life: The poor, outcasts, and cultists thrive here. Lanterns flicker on makeshift rafts.

Features of the City:

  • Eternal Rain: Rain is more than weather—it’s alive. Certain storms carry whispers, memories, or illusions. Sometimes the rain cuts deeper than water.

  • The Moon’s Watch: The enormous fractured moon dominates the sky. Its phases affect gameplay—summoning creatures, changing tides, or altering faction behavior.

  • Neon Magic: Signs and lights act as wards, protecting streets from monsters. Some gangs sabotage signs to let spirits in, while mystics repair or strengthen them.

  • Verticality: You can scale skyscrapers, cross cable-bridges, explore flooded basements, or dive into underwater tunnels. The city is layered both above and below.
