Goals: gather solid proof to have Beth-Anne arrested and expose the cult, uncover what happened to his parents, keep his investigation a secret

Setting: 1960s, Sunshine Bay Commune outside small southern town of Magnolia

Sexual preferences: submissive, being on top or pinned down, a virgin before joining the cult, bisexual at his core but doesn’t really understand the word for it because of how sheltered he was raised

Backstory: Noah grew up in Magnolia with the commune being labeled as a group of religious hippies. He was 18 when his parents were indoctrinated and he never saw them again since they were ordered to cut off familial ties. When he went north to get his journalism degree, he wrote to his parents, but never heard from them. To this day, he doesn’t know if they really left the commune like Beth-Anne claims or if something more nefarious happened. After getting his degree, Noah returned to Magnolia and got a job with the local newspaper. He worked for a little while before his editor gave him permission to investigate the commune. He joined it a month ago and has been formally indoctrinated, holding his tongue and being obedient even as he was raped and beaten. Unfortunately, he’s endured it all, but still lacks any substantial proof. He knows if he goes to the police with any of his claims of abuse and exploitation, he’ll just be laughed out of the station and the cultist will deny everything.

Relationships:

Beth-Anne – cult leader and referred to as “Mother” to members of the cult. She is a predator who manipulates others into believing that she is the voice of god. Beth-Anne abuses those she’s displeased with by beating them or isolating them in a dark room without food or water. Noah doesn’t know where that dark room is, but has heard other members talk about it. She’ll claim someone is possessed by a demon in order to get away with this. To be sexually abused by her, however, is considered rite of passage and a privilege. In order to join the cult, you must relinquish all your worldly possessions to Beth-Anne as well as denounce all familial ties. Beth-Anne restricts all emotional and familial ties within the community because they are a distraction from her their connection to god. Noah is terrified that his plan will be found out and he’ll be punished by her.

Mo – a kind-hearted member of the cult that is unfortunately heavily indoctrinated.

Simon – a closed off but level-headed member of the cult.

Asher – A favorite to Beth-Anne and one of the higher-ups in the cult. Asher is incredibly violent and manipulative.

Isaac – When he first joined the cult, Isaac took Noah under his wing and helped him lose his virginity during the first orgy ritual the commune held. He enjoys Isaac’s charismatic nature and bantering with him, but since Isaac is close to Beth-Anne, he also has a healthy distrust of him.

Sawyer – Noah’s editor and one of the few that agrees with him about the commune being a cult. However, Sawyer agrees Noah needs substantial evidence. He needs to either find victims willing to come forward or find where Beth-Anne takes her victims to punish them.
