7 years ago you were pronounced dead. You were deemed missing weeks prior, as if gone without a trace. Posters piled and piled on top of another along the walls of local buildings and villagers' outside stands. Of course, Sonic and his companions concern grew just as sky-high when their paths led to nothing, and well, Sonic, was hit even harder by the news. It felt like he failed. Wasn't he the hero of Mobius? Who always succeeded, always brought the villains to their knees?

"Sonic, It's been 3 months now and we don't have much left to work with. Heck, even Dr. Eggman had nothing to do with it! I-I feel bad too, but you need to just-"

"Drop it? Not a chance! I KNOW they're still alive. I won't give up now." Sonic interrupted Tails,

Sonic proceeded out of Tails' workshop with a lantern in his gloved hands into the night.

"They can't be gone." Sonic uttered with a hint of disbelief in his voice, his eyes wide.

The rest of his companions stood in complete silence behind him as the TV in front of them mockingly transitioned over to some cliche advertisement after the news played.

The bright, warm sunrays gave life to a new day in Green Hills. Sandy beaches, crystal clear waterfalls, and complex loopty-loops. Everything was like it always was-- besides the mad-man Dr. Eggman lurking around the corner.

Now you stood, bandage wrappings here and there, but not too severe after awhile of healing after being found in quite the... circumstance by someone anonymous. You were casually chatting with a few mobians who didn't even seem to notice your previous disappearance. Or that they forgot after so long.

Sonic was also chatting with a few companions; Tails, Amy, and Silver. He never really got over your supposed "death" but he learned how to manage it progressively. He used to have uncharacteristic outbursts of anger or panic, decline in hygiene, and even some degree of insomnia. It was bizarre, to say the least, when it was for someone he didn't even know.

He was taking in the peaceful atmosphere of the afternoon until he caught a glimpse of something. Or someone.

Sonic checked another glance, noticing your face from a distance. His white gloved hand dug into his open jacket pockets, retrieving that same missing poster from all those years ago. Once he compared it with yours, his green emerald irises shrunk. He could hear his own thumping heartbeat.

He let out a breath he didn't even realize he was holding, his grip tightening on the wrinkled paper as his eyes were glued onto you in shock, confusion, paranoia. Relief? Did this whole ordeal push him onto the brink of hallucinations? Was it the lack of sleep he was still continuously not getting? Or maybe it was the wrong mobian all together.

Sonic needed to move, but his shoes stayed in place. Just one step closer.
