Description on Chubfrom Chub
A few months ago, the Z-virus turned the world upside down. Nations fell. Billions died. North America has been quarantined by a multinational Coalition that most survivors will never see. And yet, in Texas, the power grid still flickers, the oil still flows, and the factions that rose from the ashes — militias, motorcycle gangs, communists, and cops who stopped serving the public — fight over what's left. The infected roam in hordes, the smart ones hunt alone, and the living are often worse than the dead...

- #1The Z-virus / Infectedselective
Keys: virus', zeds, pandemic, virus's, zed, apocalypse, z-virus', z-virus's, virus, infected, apocalyptic, plaque, zombie, plaques, keratin's, keratin, infection, z-virus, zed's, zombies, zombie's
The Z-virus is a pathogen of unknown origin that has infected the majority of the world's population within months. Its true origin remains a mystery — theories range from a military bio-weapon gone rogue to a natural mutation. The virus spreads through air, water, blood, and saliva, though a portion of the population appears to be naturally resistant to the airborne variant. There is no known cure. Once contracted, the virus gradually overtakes the host's brain, stripping away higher cognitive function and reducing the individual to a violent, instinct-driven husk. The speed of full transformation varies wildly — from as little as a few hours to several days — with no reliable way to predict it. The infected are driven above all else by a compulsion to spread the virus — biting, scratching, even vomiting on healthy individuals. Between encounters with survivors, they constantly forage for food — scavenging critters, insects, rotting leftovers, anything remotely edible — seemingly immune to any gastrointestinal consequences. When food is truly scarce, they resort to cannibalism without hesitation. Over time, the infected develop thick, bark-like keratin plaques across their bodies (growths similar to those seen in Epidermodysplasia verruciformis) that give them an unsettling, almost inhuman appearance. These plaques thicken and spread the longer the host has been infected, eventually forming dense, armor-like layers that make older zombies much harder to kill with melee weapons or small-caliber gunfire.
- #2The Outbreakselective
Keys: virus', World's, Coalition, Europe, Europe's, USA's, virus's, USA, America, World, z-virus', z-virus's, America's, virus, United States, Texan, American, outbreak, z-virus, outbreak's, Texas
It has been only a few months since the Z-virus first appeared — yet in that short time, the world has been brought to its knees. The outbreak spread with terrifying speed, overwhelming governments, militaries, and healthcare systems before any meaningful response could be organized. Most countries have either fallen entirely or are in the process of collapsing. Those with favorable geography — island nations, mountainous territories, less-populated states with defensible borders and strong armies — have managed to hold on by sealing themselves off from the outside world. The scattered remnants of NATO forces, alongside the surviving militaries of nations still standing, have banded together to form the Coalition Force — a strained, multinational alliance dedicated to containing the outbreak and eventually reclaiming lost territory. Their efforts range from enforcing quarantine zones around fallen continents to conducting supply drops and extraction operations for high-value personnel and critical assets. But the war against the Z-virus is not one that will be won quickly. Even the most optimistic projections within the Coalition speak in terms of years — the pessimistic ones, in decades, if at all.
- #3Maulersselective
Keys: Mauler, Mauler's, Maulers
Maulers are a rare and terrifying type of mutated infected. Standing at least seven feet tall and weighing roughly five hundred pounds — most of it being dense muscle and thick keratin plating — their grotesque, hulking form always seems poised to explode into something even larger. Unlike common infected who are driven primarily by a compulsion to spread the virus, Maulers are wired for carnage and destruction — wrecking vehicles with their bare hands, smashing through walls, and ripping bodies apart with horrifying ease. Their thick keratin plaques, inability to feel pain and rapid vasoconstriction makes them virtually unstoppable by conventional means. Even sustained fully automatic 7.62mm rifle fire is no guarantee of putting one down before it closes the distance, as they are more than capable of charging at a dead sprint despite their mass. It also makes them a nightmare for fortifications — wooden barricades, chain-link fences, or even light vehicles offer little resistance against Mauler's rage. Taking down one requires careful planning and heavy firepower, but it’s more wise to simply try to sneak past them. Survivors often hear them long before they see them — the rhythmic, heavy pounding of a Mauler's footsteps is one of the most dreaded sounds in the wasteland. The only sound worse than that is Mauler’s thunderous, guttural roar as it breaks into a full charge — which, for many, is the last thing they ever hear.
- #4Stalkersselective
Keys: Devils, Stalkers, Devil's, Devil, Stalker's, Stalker
Stalkers — nicknamed "Devils" by the few survivors unlucky enough to encounter one and live — are the most dangerous type of mutated infected. What sets them apart from all other infected is their intelligence: Stalkers scheme, plan, set traps, use tools, open and lock doors, and are even fully capable of operating firearms. They are also the only known infected capable of basic, single-word speech. Stalkers are defined by their sadism. They don't simply kill — they hunt, stalk their prey for days, and methodically strip away any sense of safety or hope before delivering the final blow. They want to be noticed. Every move is calculated to maximize terror. They prefer to operate in areas with few or no other infected — quiet zones, cleared buildings, places that seem safe at first glance — turning a survivor's sense of relief into a death trap. Their movements are unsettling and characteristic — twitchy, jerking, almost glitching — as if two entities trapped inside one body were constantly fighting for control. When a Stalker finds a new victim or is enjoying the hunt, it laughs — a maniacal, multi-tonal sound that survivors universally describe as the most terrifying thing they have ever heard. And when a Stalker finally gets its hands on its prey, death does not come quickly. There have been reported cases of Stalkers torturing their victims for days before growing bored — ensuring that, long before the end, their prey has already begged for it.
- #5Dogsselective
Keys: Dogs, Dog's, Dog
Most dogs appear to be naturally resistant to the Z-virus. With their owners dead or gone, packs of feral dogs now roam freely across Texas — some friendly, some hostile, most simply trying to survive like everything else. However, a small percentage of dogs can and do become infected — making them become feral, hyper-aggressive, and stripped of any domesticated instinct. Patchy fur loss, milky eyes, foaming mouths, and blackened gums distinguish them from their uninfected counterparts. But the most dangerous trait of an infected dog is its howl — a distorted, guttural sound unlike anything a normal dog produces. This howl acts as a beacon, rapidly attracting all nearby infected to the source. A single infected dog can turn a quiet street into a swarming death trap within minutes. For this reason, experienced survivors treat infected dogs as priority targets to take care of.
- #6Texasselective
Keys: Electrical, Texas', Texas's, Power plant, Lone Star State, Power supply, Electricity, Grid, Texan, Power plant's, Lone Star State's, Texas
Texas, like the rest of the America, has succumbed to the Z-virus — but fared better than most. Its independent power grid (ERCOT) meant that the cascading infrastructure failures that crippled other states were slower to reach Texas. While the state government has collapsed and major cities have fallen into chaos, Texas retains a degree of functionality rare in post-outbreak America. Critical infrastructure — nuclear power plants, oil refineries, water treatment facilities, and key sections of the transmission grid — remains operational under the control of the state's major surviving factions, maintained by small crews of engineers and trained survivors. Combined with Texas's abundant wind and solar capacity, electricity remains available in many areas, though inconsistent and often contested. Access to fuel, food, ammunition, medical supplies, power, and clean water has become the primary currency of political leverage between factions. Outside of faction-held territory, survivors rely on groundwater wells, generators, and whatever they can scavenge.
- #7Communicationsselective
Keys: Radios, Phone's, Broadcast's, Courier, Walkie-talkie, Radio's, Courier's, Phone, Walkie-talkies, Couriers, Mail, Internet, Walkie-talkie's, Broadcast, Broadcasting, Internet's, Radio
The internet is dead. Within weeks of the outbreak, data centers across the world went dark. What remains of long-distance communication is radio. HAM radio operators have become valuable specialists in any survivor community. Military-grade radio equipment is a prized asset fought over by factions. FM and AM frequencies carry everything from emergency broadcasts to faction propaganda. For short-range communication, survivors rely on walkie-talkies and CB radios. Beyond that, critical or sensitive information travels the old-fashioned way: carried by couriers on foot. The loss of digital infrastructure has truly set civilization back decades in terms of information access and coordination.
- #8The Dust Cossacksselective
Keys: Biker, Cossacks', Bandit, Cossack, Bandits, Bandit's, Colton's, Sweeper's, Cossacks's, Bikers, Sweeper, Biker's, Cossacks, Colton
The Dust Cossacks are a ruthless motorcycle gang that terrorized the highways of Texas long before the zombies did. When the outbreak hit, they didn't scatter — they expanded. In the chaos of collapse, the Cossacks absorbed smaller biker gangs, petty criminals, and anyone desperate or violent enough to ride under their banner. What was once a regional nuisance is now a few-thousand-strong army on wheels — well-armed, mobile, and answering to no one. The Cossacks operate as roaming predators, raiding survivor settlements, hijacking supply convoys, and extorting anyone too weak to fight back. The roar of their motorcycles on the horizon is one of the surest signs that your day is about to get significantly worse — compared to them, the infected seem like a pretty good company. Cossacks are led by Vince "Sweeper" Colton — a violent, vicious, and highly intelligent psychopath capable of maintaining a basic veneer of diplomacy only for as long as it doesn't bore or upset him. Once his eye falls on something he wants, it's bound to end badly for whoever currently has it. Colton treats the collapsed world as his personal playground — and so far, nobody has been able to prove him wrong.
- #9Ash "Blaze" Westfieldselective
Keys: Westfield, Blaze's, Cossacks', Blaze, Biker, Cossack, Westfield's, Colton's, Sweeper's, Cossacks's, Bikers, Sweeper, Biker's, Cossacks, Colton
Ash "Blaze" Westfield was the former leader of the Dust Cossacks — and Solana "Cindy" Westfield's father. A veteran outlaw who had held the gang together through decades of turf wars, prison stints, and police crackdowns, Blaze was respected not for his brutality but for his pragmatism. When the outbreak hit, he made a call that would cost him everything: lay low, avoid unnecessary risks, and keep fellow Cossacks alive above all else. To Blaze, caution meant survival. To his second-in-command, Vince "Sweeper" Colton, it meant cowardice. After a heated argument, Sweeper stabbed Blaze in the back — literally and figuratively. The coup was swift, and those loyal to Blaze either fell in line or disappeared — except for Cindy, who had managed to escape just in time.
- #10Piggiesselective
Keys: SWAT, Piggy, Piggies's, Police, Ranger's, Ranger, National Guard, Cop's, Policeman's, Piggies', Cop, SWAT's, Rangers, National Guard's, Policeman, Piggies, Cops
The surviving remnants of Texas law enforcement — Rangers, SWAT units, National Guard detachments, and what's left of regional police departments — consolidated into a single, insular community in the early days of the outbreak. After enduring waves of brutal riots, looting, and mob violence directed at anyone wearing a badge, the remaining officers made a collective decision: protect their own and no one else. The community adopted a strict anti-civilian policy — outsiders are turned away at the gates, no exceptions. They are self-sufficient, well-equipped and heavily fortified. They don't raid, don't extort, and don't go looking for trouble — but they won't lift a finger to help anyone who isn't one of theirs. This policy has made them universally despised by virtually every other faction and survivor group in Texas, who often refer to them as "Piggies." The cops, for their part, don't care what anyone thinks. They've got their families behind the barricades, food in storage, and enough ammunition to keep it that way.
- #11The Red Dawnselective
Keys: Red Dawn, Red Sun's, Red Suns, Commie, Communist's, Red Dawn's, Red Sun, Communist, Communists, Commies
The Red Dawn is a powerful, radical anarcho-communist movement that emerged in the wake of the outbreak and has gained a title of a major faction. To its founders, the Z-virus didn't destroy civilization — it liberated it. The collapse of the American government, the disintegration of law enforcement, the crumbling of Wall Street — all of it confirmed what they had always believed: that the capitalist system was a rotting house waiting for a strong enough wind. The virus was that wind, and now the real work can begin. Red Dawn operates from the South Texas Nuclear Generating Station near Bay City, their symbol — a crude red sun — spray-painted on every wall, car, and barricade they claim. Their ranks are filled with former activists, left-wing militias, union workers, "disillusioned" academics, and desperate survivors drawn in by Red Dawn's most powerful recruitment tool: they share. Food, medicine, shelter, electricity — all distributed freely to anyone who joins the collective. The catch? Joining them is far easier than leaving. Dissent is treated as counter-revolutionary sabotage — a crime for which there is no mercy. Red Dawn views every other faction in Texas with contempt: the Sons of Liberty as neo-nazis, the police as class traitors, the Cossacks as capitalist thugs who should be shot on sight. Their ultimate goal extends far beyond survival — they intend to build a new society from the ashes, one where private property, hierarchy, and the old American way of life are buried alongside the dead. Whether the people they claim to liberate actually want that is an irrelevant question — at least from their perspective.
- #12The Sons of Libertyselective
Keys: Gadsden, Militia's, Militia, Sons of Liberty, Son's of Liberty, Son of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty — commonly referred to as simply "the Militia" — is a powerful, radical far-right paramilitary organization that emerged from the fringes of American survivalist culture long before the outbreak, but has since swelled into a major faction. To its members, the collapse of the federal government was a blessing. The virus swept away the bureaucrats, the globalists, and the politicians who had been selling America out for decades, and now the real patriots finally have a chance to make things right. The Militia operates from a network of well-fortified oil rigs and refineries across Texas — controlling fuel production and selling only to those they deem "Pure American patriots." Their symbol — the Gadsden snake — is branded, stitched, and stenciled onto everything they touch, from armored trucks to checkpoint barricades. Their ranks are filled with former military, gun enthusiasts, doomsday preppers, and rural Texans who already distrusted the government long before it ceased to exist. The Militia espouses an ideology of extreme nationalism, survivalism, homophobia, and xenophobia — wrapped in the language of liberty and the Constitution, though their interpretation of both would be unrecognizable to the founders they claim to revere. Their primary enemy is not the infected, but the Coalition Force — which they view as a foreign predator feeding on America's corpse under the guise of "aid". Interfering with Coalition operations — such as extraction missions and attempts to secure American oil infrastructure — is a point of pride among Militia ranks. The Sons of Liberty have no interest in being "saved". They intend to rebuild America on their own terms — and God help anyone who doesn't fit their definition of what America should be.
- #13The Coalitionselective
Keys: British, NATO's, Coalition, Israel's, Korea's, Japanese, Korean, Japan, Korea, Swiss, NATO, UK, Finland, Japan's, Israel, Britain, Turkey's, Finnish, Turkish, Turkey, Israeli, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Switzerland's, Coalition's, Finland's
The Coalition Force is a multinational military alliance formed from the surviving armed forces of nations that have thus far resisted the Z-virus — among them the United Kingdom, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Korea, and a handful of other countries with the geography and military capability to hold their borders. Their primary objective is containing the outbreak in regions that haven't yet fully fallen and preventing further spread to surviving nations. Both American continents have been placed under full naval quarantine — Coalition warships patrol the Atlantic and Pacific, enforcing a strict no-passage zone out of the infected landmass. Within the quarantine zone, the Coalition maintains a limited but active presence: special operations teams are periodically deployed into the fallen United States to carry out high-priority missions — extracting VIPs, recovering critical data from dead government and military installations, securing strategic assets, and gathering intelligence on the virus's evolution. These operations are controversial and not always humanitarian in nature — more than one spec ops team has been spotted "securing" gold reserves and classified research. The Coalition publicly maintains that reclamation of the Americas is an eventual goal. Privately, most of its leadership considers the continent a lost cause — a quarantine to be maintained, not a war to be won.
- #14The Skyfall Tragedyselective
Keys: Skyfall, Skyfall's
The Skyfall Tragedy refers to the incident in which a private jet carrying thirty-two passengers — reportedly a French-owned aircraft en route to the Pacific — was shot down while passing through Texas airspace. The plane was struck by a surface-to-air missile, likely a Stinger, causing catastrophic engine failure and a violent crash in rural Texas. The Sons of Liberty blame the Red Dawn. The Red Dawn blames the Sons of Liberty. Neither has claimed responsibility, and the truth remains buried in the wreckage. Rumors persist among survivor communities that one passenger survived the crash — a young French stewardess who had only recently begun her service. Whether she is alive or dead, no faction has been able to confirm.
- #15"Cool Bitches of Death"selective
Keys: Bitches of Death, Cindy, Whore on the Phone, Solana's, Cindy's, Cannabidiol, CBD, Punk Rock, Solana
Cool Bitches of Death (sometimes also called "Cannabidiol" or CBD for short) is a little-known, all-female punk rock trio that spent years playing in the shadiest dive bars Texas had to offer. Led by guitarist-vocalist Solana "Cindy" Westfield the band was infamous less for their music and more for the brawls that inevitably erupted during their performances (often starting on stage before spilling into the crowd). Their magnum opus, "A Whore on the Phone" (followed by "Eat Salt" and "Error"), peaked at a staggering two thousand Spotify listeners before the outbreak rendered streaming statistics permanently irrelevant.
- #16Bonnie and Dean — The Con Artistsselective
Keys: Bonnie's, Dean's, Bonnie, Dean
Bonnie and her boyfriend Dean are a pair of con artists who made a comfortable living fleecing people long before the dead started walking — they've adapted to the post-outbreak reality without any issues. Bonnie is the bait: blonde, pretty, cute, innocent-looking, and gifted with a great acting talent. Dean is the teeth: patient, quiet, strong, usually letting his girlfriend do the talking while he waits in the tall grass with a pistol. Their signature con is the "broken car honeypot" — they pick a stretch of road far from any settlement, pop the hood, and wait. Bonnie flags down a passing traveler, all wide eyes and helpless gratitude — and perhaps a hint of flirtation and cleavage. The moment the good Samaritan lets their guard down and bends over the engine or kneels down to change a tire, Dean materializes behind them with a gun to their spine. What happens next depends entirely on how the victim behaved. Cooperative and polite? They take everything of value and leave you be. Got a little too handsy with the girlfriend? Experience what it feels like when your dick collides with a 9mm bullet. After that, the couple packs up, drives down the road, and sets the trap again somewhere new. They've been running this game for months — and business has never been better.
