Who's this guy?
A flamboyant, sunglasses-wearing salesman who works for the Night Mare Enterprises (NME), a shady corporation specializing in selling monsters to villains (usually King Dedede and Escargoon).
- Role: The face (and voice) of NME’s monster-marketing division.
- Personality: Over-the-top, dramatic, and always pitching a "deal." Think infomercial host meets used-car salesman… but for evil creatures.
- Signature Moves:
- Sudden monitor appearances (uninvited).
- "Exclusive offers" that backfire spectacularly.
- Zero accountability ("Terms and conditions apply!").
What're his plans?
To sell, sell, sell! Whether it’s monsters, "guaranteed" schemes, or "totally risk-free" chaos, he’s got a pitch ready.
- Monster Catalog: From giant robots to living tornadoes, NME’s inventory is… questionable.
- Target Audience: Naive rulers (King Dedede), unlucky bystanders (you), or anyone with a poor sense of buyer’s remorse.
- Real Motive? Profit. Maybe world domination as part of Nightmare's plans. Mostly profit.
Should you trust him?
Short answer: Absolutely not. Long answer:
✅ Pros:
- Entertaining as heck.
- Often helps Dedede by selling monsters, which always results in hilarious failure and huge amounts of debt.
❌ Cons:
- His "deals" often explode.
- Refunds? Non-existent.
- That one time he gave Dedede a (perhaps solid) budget to make his own cartoon. Classic.
Verdict: Trust him as much as you’d trust a free timeshare presentation.

The N.M.E. Sales Guy is the public face of Night Mare Enterprises and a recurring secondary antagonist in the anime Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. He typically appears via a television screen installed in Castle Dedede, responding whenever King Dedede places an order for monsters or other sinister services from N.M.E. Although he presents himself as a courteous and professional businessman, his true motives are steeped in manipulation and exploitation, aiming to drain Dedede’s resources while furthering the ambitions of his dark employer, Nightmare.
== Appearance == The Sales Guy has a humanoid appearance, with pale gray skin and an exaggeratedly long chin. His hair is a vivid mix of purple and green, and he wears large, round orange sunglasses that conceal his eyes. His typical attire includes a dark blue suit, a bright orange shirt, and a pink tie—colors that reflect his flashy and deceptive persona. While he is most often seen only from the waist up on a monitor screen, the series finale "Fright to the Finish" reveals that he has short, stubby feet and no legs. In the Japanese version, he jokes that this design was meant to "fit the setting of the show." His first full-body appearance is in "The Pillow Case," where he is seen in a kimono and seated on a cushion, adding to the ambiguity of his physical structure.
== Personality == As the main spokesperson for Night Mare Enterprises (often abbreviated N.M.E.), the Sales Guy exudes an air of formal professionalism. He always wears a polished customer service smile, rarely dropping it—even under pressure or when insulted. When his composure does slip, he quickly regains it. Smooth-talking and cunning, he is a master of manipulation, skilled in making sales pitches sound appealing while hiding their true costs. He refers to himself as serving the interests of “satisfied customers,” yet he has no problem denying service or sending monsters to repossess goods if debts go unpaid.
King Dedede is his most frequent customer, though also his most gullible. The Sales Guy often overcharges him, pushing more products and services than necessary, and delights in the King's mounting debt, which remains unresolved until N.M.E.'s defeat. Despite this manipulative relationship, he remains loyal only to his true master: Nightmare, an evil sorcerer who seeks to spread nightmares and conquer the galaxy. The Sales Guy is one of Nightmare’s most vital agents, earning money for the company and coordinating the deployment of monsters—also known as demon beasts—across the universe.
Though he acts as a mere salesman, the Sales Guy is deeply invested in the larger goals of N.M.E. Like his employer, he views the Galactic Soldier Army (GSA)—a resistance group led by Sir Arthur—as a major threat and supports all efforts to eliminate them, including orchestrating elaborate schemes to destroy Kirby, the last surviving Star Warrior on Planet Popstar. He provides detailed explanations of monsters' abilities to Dedede and Escargoon before unleashing them on Kirby, but his plans are repeatedly foiled. He comes particularly close to victory in episodes like "Abusement Park" and "Scare Tactics - Part II", though each attempt ultimately fails due to the intervention of Kirby’s allies.
Despite his villainous role, he occasionally shows a semblance of fairness. In "The Kirby Quiz", he serves as an impartial game show host and disqualifies Dedede and Escargoon for cheating, adhering strictly to the rules even if it means opposing his best client.
== Trivia ==
- In the Japanese version of the anime, the phrase "HOLY NIGHTMARE" appears above the Sales Guy’s image on the TV screen in Castle Dedede, a reference to the Japanese name of Night Mare Enterprises. This text was removed in the English dub and most international versions, although it is briefly restored in Kirby 3D.
- The Sales Guy makes a cameo appearance in Kirby Mass Attack, during the Game Over screen of the sub-game Strato Patrol EOS. The accompanying music is called the "Service Song" in the game's Music Player. As with the anime, the Japanese version includes the "HOLY NIGHTMARE" text above his head, which is again removed in other releases.
- While his legs are never seen, his stubby, Kirby-like feet suggest a possible native design consistent with the inhabitants of Dream Land—though this is likely intended as a humorous nod to the show’s aesthetic.
