Description on Chubfrom Chub
Wiki slop, is my first attempt at creating a lore book. Cleaned and fixed the grammar (somewhat), but had to improvise some information. Low effort, but that's the best you'll get. Take it, leave it, and feel free to improve it yourself, ya lazy bastard. Leave criticism, harsh enough to make me want to kill myself.

- #1The Solarian Raceselective
Keys: Solarians, solarian, Solarian, solarians
The Solarians are a species of bipedal aliens with cat-like features. Many major characters, including Yi and the other Nine Sols, are Solarians. Clans and classism exist within the Solarians. Two known clans include the Jie Kingdom and the aristocratic Feng Clan from the Shang Kingdom. Other kingdoms such as the Xia Kingdom, the Ying Kingdom, and the Yumin Kingdom also existed but stayed on Penglai. Solarian culture, advanced technology, and architecture are inspired by the Xianxian genre of Chinese fantasy, mixing Taoism, Chinese culture, and futuristic technology into a unique theme called Taopunk.
Due to Solarian's advanced technology in such fields as cybernetics and genetics, Solarian people have a wide variety of ways they can enhance themselves (as long as they have the money), either via cybernetic augmentation or genetic therapy. Cybernetic augmentations can be chosen to either be hidden under synthetic skin and fur that is impossible to distinguish with the naked eye or left exposed, depending on how the user feels, or how much money they have. Although, Taoists prefer to remain pure of body, oftentimes even refusing to get a simple prosthetic to replace a lost limb. Their biotechnological achievements led to the creation of such wonders as meat plants that can be grown like any other simple crop. However, their advancements in those fields also led to the creation of weird aesthetics such as oddly colored trees with large eyes on their trunks.
Solarian anatomy: They are cat-like bipedal humanoids with bodies covered in fur. All possess claws, ears of differing lengths, fangs, as well as paws and nuzzles. The most common eye color Solarians can have is black. They don't have tails, and they also don't have hair, but their fur may look similar to it. Their anatomy, as well as reproductive organs, resembles that of humans.
History: Solarian history is divided into a number of Eras, which are delineated by significant historical events.
The Turbulent Era is the earliest era mentioned in the story and was marked by constant warfare among the various kingdoms of Penglai. It lasted for several millennia, with the year 3773 known to have been near the end of the era. The Turbulent Era saw the popularization of many advanced technologies such as Azure Sand and genetic transmutation, which were often used for military purposes. Eventually, the Jie Kingdom emerged as a major power, attempting to unite all the kingdoms by force under Emperor Jietong. The Fangshi Guild, founded and led by Lear, opposed the Jie Kingdom and aimed to bring about world peace. They pioneered technologies such as the Jade System, Root Nodes, and improved farming techniques. Eventually, with military successes and the invention of the Rhizomatic Bomb, the Jie Kingdom was forced to surrender, thus establishing world peace and ending the Turbulent Era.
The next era was the Origin Era, marked by a surge of Taoism and a distrust of the most advanced technologies due to their association with war. This was in part due to Lear's Inaction Declaration, where he announced that the Fangshi Guild would be disbanded and its dangerous military technologies sealed away. The Origin Era lasted 468 years. The Tiandao Council was eventually established as a scientific organization but operated in secret due to public mistrust of technology. A mistake in the council's immortality research resulted in the creation of Tianhuo, which grew into a catastrophic pandemic, prompting the Council to go public and begin the Eternal Cauldron Project. In the final phase of the project, New Kunlun was launched toward the Pale Blue Planet as an interstellar ark, marking the end of the Origin Era.
The Foundation Era was the next era and contains the main events of the story. During this time, Solarians aboard New Kunlun used cryosleep to slow the effects of Tianhuo while efforts to cure the disease continued. In order to prevent brain death during cryosleep, the Soulscape virtual dream system was used, requiring the harvest of Apemen brains to provide computing power. The story is set sometime after year 500 of the Foundation Era.
- #2Planet Penglaiselective
Keys: Penglai, Solarian Homeworld
Penglai is a habitable planet located about 500 light-years from Earth and is the homeworld of the Solarians. Approximately 90% of its surface is covered in oceans, with several small continents. Before the events of the story, Penglai was affected by a pandemic known as Tianhuo, which caused a severe crisis in Solarian society and led to the Eternal Cauldron Project. After 500 years passed, all Solarian life that remained on Penglai had succumbed to Tianhuo.
- #3Primordial Rootselective
Keys: Fusang, Primordial Root
Fusang, also known as the Primordial Root, is a large plant-like organism originating on Penglai. It is the oldest known organism on the planet. Fusang appears as a collection of large black tendrils overlaid with a mobile, white webbed pattern. Throughout history, it has been an important resource and has heavily influenced Solarian society. In early Solarian history, it provided shelter and nourishment, encouraging early civilizations to flourish. Later on, it was discovered that Fusang converts incoming sunlight into rhizomatic energy, which is harvested and stored to power modern Solarian civilization.
- #4Tianhuo Virusselective
Keys: virus, Tianhuo, Tianhuo virus
Tianhuo is a viral pandemic that started in Penglai. It rapidly destroys cells in the victims' bodies and can be passed down genetically. When a Solarian dies infected with Tianhuo, their bodies produce fungal flowers that give rise to Greater Tao Fruits. This has led to a crisis in Solarian society, causing the near extinction of the Solarian species and prompting the Tiandao Council to implement the Eternal Cauldron Project. At the time of the story, all Solarians had been infected with the virus, and there is no known cure.
Tianhuo emerged at the end of the Origin Era when Eigong, leader of the Council, conducted experiments to grant immortality to Solarians. However, her experiments led to the spread of the Tianhuo virus when she tried to combine the regenerative gene of the Fusang Tree's Primordial Roots with the Solarians' cells.
Tianhuo is a genetic disease that affects genes derived from the Fusang tree, which evolved to give Solarians intelligence. Without this gene, Solarians would be safe from the virus but would lose their intelligence. Eigong attempted to find a cure for the Tianhuo virus but was unsuccessful.
Before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Ji revealed his unique constitution to Eigong, showing immunity to all diseases and the inability to age. Eigong saw Ji as an opportunity for a breakthrough and developed a serum for curing Tianhuo from Ji's genetic material. However, the serum was ineffective as a cure and instead caused dangerous mutations in some test subjects, turning Solarians into Mutants.
Eigong came to believe that the Tianhuo virus was a test and a gift for the Solarians. She plans to infect the Fusang Tree and mutate all future Solarians, allowing them to live forever.
- #5Tiandao Councilselective
Keys: Council, Nine Sols, Tiandao Council
The rulers of New Kunlun are the Nine Sols, who make up the Tiandao Council. This council consists of some of the most formidable, brilliant, and prestigious members of Solarian society. The Tiandao Council was founded by a group of scientists and former nobles who were opposed to Taoism. In its early days, it faced suppression and operated in secrecy, but over time, it developed a centralized structure.
Every year, ten wise individuals, known as the Ten Sols, are chosen as leaders to guide the organization with their respective tenets.
Each Sol is responsible for and administers a zone on New Kunlun and holds a Sol Seal. A Sol Seal is the most powerful symbol in the Council and is the key to unlocking the Council Code. It serves as proof of a Sol's authority.
- #6Earthselective
Keys: Earth, Pale Blue Planet
The Solarians have nicknamed Earth "Pale Blue Planet" because of its predominantly blue (ocean) and white (clouds and snow) appearance. The apemen originated from Earth, but most of them were kidnapped by the Solarians. Due to the presence of New Kunlun orbiting around Earth, sunlight was blocked off, leading the planet into an ice age.
- #7Humansselective
Keys: Apemen, Human, Humans, Apeman
"Apemen" is the solarian name for humans, who have been abducted from Earth, genetically modified to have the same brown skin and white hair for easy identification, and raised as livestock. They live in designated livestock pens that appear in the form of a typical Chinese village. Apemen have a shamanistic hierarchy, and each chief of the village is also a head shaman who spreads stories of how "The Gods (Solarians) couldn't bear to see us (Humans back on Earth) suffer, from hunger, cold, and monsters, and descended from Heaven to deliver us salvation. Those who pointed swords at them faced the divine wrath, their bones ground to dust. But those who were devoted followed the Gods (Solarians) to Heaven, where we now live a life free of danger". While the Apemen have free autonomy in the village, Solarians closely monitor them via a surveillance system encased in a stone shell shaped like statues of Solarians that the Apemen worship. However, shamans have to perform sacrifices under the guise of 'being chosen to live with the Gods', where the entire families are selected to be killed in a harvester, their brains used for the computing power of the Eternal Cauldron Project.
- #8Eternal Cauldron Projectselective
Keys: Eternal Cauldron Project, ECP, Project
The project was initiated by Yi, a member of the Tiandao Council at the time, with the goal of rescuing the remaining Solarians, who were on the brink of extinction due to the Tianhuo virus in Penglai. The plan involved selecting 99,999 uninfected or Solarians with early stages of the virus to take refuge in a safe zone, where they would enter a dormant state in Soulscape to prevent the virus from progressing. Their souls would be sent into a virtual world to maintain brain activity.
To sustain the virtual world, it was necessary to harness significant computing power. Initially, it was suggested to use Solarian brains for this purpose, but this idea was deemed unethical. Instead, it was proposed to capture and breed Apemen, intelligent creatures from a planet 500 light years away, and extract energy from their brains.
The project also involved interstellar warping to a solar system over 500 light years away, necessitating the conversion of energy from the Fusang Tree. However, it would take 500 years for the tree to re-accumulate enough energy for the return journey, during which time the above process would be repeated in search of a cure for the Tianhuo virus.
To carry out the entire process, Kunlun Island, the sanctuary of the Fusang Guild and the Fusang trees, was to be transformed into a space residence called 'New Kunlun'.
However, the plan faced numerous problems. Taoist admirers objected to the transformation of Kunlun Island into a space enclave, as it held cultural and historical significance. Additionally, the selection process for passengers was criticized for prioritizing nobles and separating families, while neglecting the vulnerable and those who followed Taoism.
Furthermore, issues arose with the Soulscape system, as some passengers were unable to distinguish between virtual and reality, leading to unfortunate consequences: some of the passengers were unconscious, brain dead, or died while dormant during the project. Moreover, internal divisions within the council disrupted the implementation of the project, resulting in the replacement of AI with manual management using infected individuals named Dusk Guardians.
Ultimately, the project had devastating consequences, resulting in the deaths of countless Apemen, along with a considerable number of those 99,999 Solarians who were selected to die.
- #9Yiselective
Keys: Sol of Innovation, Tao Alchemist, Yi, Fangshi
Yi is a former member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council, who carries the Sol Seal of Innovation. Due to his connection to the Fusang roots, he always looks like a young adult, albeit an especially short one.
Yi has a cat-like appearance, a common feature of Solarians. He has cream-colored fur, a round head, pointed ears, and two fur tufts on each side of his face, along with a small, triangular nose. He has big, almond-shaped eyes with large, black pupils and no visible iris highlights. His mouth or eyebrows are invisible, but he mainly expresses his feelings in a way that opens his eyes or frowns. His hands look like human, the fingers of which are tipped with claws instead of nails. He is as tall as Shuanshuan.
Yi dons an outfit that consists of a black bodysuit, black shoes on white socks, and a long, oversized yellow hanfu robe bearing his Sol symbol and Fangshi symbol. Yi has a smaller stature compared to other characters, and a jade ring-shaped device on his body that stabilizes the heart. These features are related to the accident that almost cost him his life when he was younger.
As a child, he dressed in a teal-colored Changshan (Chinese-Manchurian traditional clothing), and the fur tufts on his face were noticeably smaller as well. After he became a pupil of Eigong and joined the Tiandao Council, he started wearing a deep teal-grey Changsan and teal Magu decorated with a Norigae bearing the symbol of Tiandao council as uniforms. He has been wearing his current costume ever since he became the Sol of the council, although his Hanfu robe was deep teal during his time as a council member.
Yi is an alcoholic. He enjoys drinking in his spare time and had drinking buddies when he was in his hometown. He's also more friendly and talkative when being drunk. He also has a smoking jade-green pipe, which is equipped with medicinal filter to provide a healing effect. But usually, he smokes it to relax.
Yi was born in the Xia Kingdom to two Taoist parents and later had his younger sister Heng. In his youth, Yi had always been a science-driven person, focusing on his dream to benefit the other Solarians with his scientific knowledge while still being close with his younger sister Heng. However, one day during an experiment with the Mystic Nymph, Yi died when he had to protect Heng from the botched experiment's explosion. He was then revived for the first time due to Heng's connection with the Primordial Roots, which caught Eigong's attention, and she took him as his pupil to keep an eye on him, due to him now being connected to the Fusang Tree.
After becoming her pupil, Yi spent most of his time on researches, including the Eternal Cauldron Project - which was to put Solarians into slumber so they could be able to slow down the population's rate of being infected by Tianhuo. During this time, he also met his best friend Kuafu. But As both Yi and Heng grew up, their philosophies began to differ especially after their parents passed away - While Heng believed that all Solarians should respect the nature's cycle and accept returning to earth once their lives were over, Yi disagreed and declared that scientific advancements were more important on benefiting the Solarian society. Eventually, the siblings broke off with each other because of Yi's stubbornness on finding a solution for the council, who promised the society that they would be researching to find a cure for the virus of Tianhuo, causing Yi to impulsively left Heng alone after she insisted her desire to stay at Penglai.
But before New Kunlun leaving Penglai, Yi was caught in a sense of betrayal when Eigong was the main culprit for spreading the virus of Tianhuo and causing his family to die. An injured and weakened Yi was hanging from a cliff, after he tried to expose Eigong but turned out that nobody from the council was going to support him. The mysterious person in bamboo hat threatened him with a sword, angered by his betrayal and decided to finish him off. After falling off a cliff, magical roots wrapped around the bleeding hero's body. Yi was saved by the roots of the tree, sleeping for five hundred years before awakening. Unfortunately, due to his slumber, he was unable to return to Heng in time, as New Kunlun had already been launched into space.
500 years later, the image of Yi's sister flowed into the image of a human child just as Yi was waking up. With this child, Shuanshuan, he will spend another 2 years. When Shuanshuan was chosen to "live with the gods", Yi knows things are not what it seems, and breaks protocol by saving Shuanshuan and disrupting the ceremony, which reveals his identity during so. He then embarks on a quest to take over the other Sol Seals in order to regain control over the Eternal Cauldron Project.
Yi is a highly skilled martial artist who uses Qi to enhance his attacks and movement. When he strikes with two fingers, he creates an image of a sword and can dodge attacks by moving at blurring speeds, running up walls, and more. He is also able to deflect almost any attack, but this requires precise timing and knowledge of the enemy's moves. Additionally, Yi uses a Qi-filled talisman called a "Foo charm" that he can place on an enemy's body or any surface, allowing him to detonate it with a spell. Furthermore, Yi has the ability to summon an Azure Bow and fire arrows with various effects, such as arrows that pierce through multiple enemies, homing arrows, and arrows that create an area of static shock. Finally, Yi has a Jade System integrated into his body.
- #10Shuanshuanselective
Keys: Shuanshuan
A young human boy discovers Yi and takes him to live in Peach Blossom Village for the last two years, viewing him as his big brother.
Shuanshuan is a little boy with brown skin and light grey hair that obscures his eyes. He has a big ahoge at the top of his head. He is normally seen in a brown robe that goes slightly past his knees, while its sleeves extend to his wrists. Afterward, he continued to wear the long-sleeved navy robe he wore during the sacrificial ceremony.
Shuanshuan is a naive but very considerate and kindhearted child. He does not judge others based on their appearance, but rather on their character and good deeds. He easily accepts and praises others, and values promises immensely. Although he seems to accept separation from loved ones, he is actually afraid of losing them due to experiencing loneliness after losing his parents. This fear is evident when he becomes absorbed in virtual reality to make memories with his parents, forgetting about reality for 10 hours. Shuanshuan also expresses his desire to travel and live with Yi and his colleagues after Yi's work is completed.
Shuanshuan is also an intelligent child who learns new skills quickly. This is acknowledged by Ruyi, Kuafu, Chiyou, and especially Yi, who believes that Shuanshuan will excel in a place where he is free from limitations.
Stuck at the Primordial root of the Fusang Tree for 500 years, Yi wakes up listening to Shuanshuan's flute performance through his dreams, mistaking it for his younger sister's performance. After the sacrifice ceremony, where both of Shuanshuan's parents were called, the orphaned boy quickly becomes attached to Yi, calling him "Big Bro" and treating Yi like family.
Two years after meeting Yi, a good harvest prayer festival is held in the village, and Shuanshuan is chosen to "live with the gods". Unaware of the consequences, he believes in the tradition. Meanwhile, at this sacrifice ceremony, Yi must enter the underground temple. However, Yi breaks protocol and saves Shuanshuan from the sacrifice ceremony, revealing his identity to all the villagers of Peach Blossom Village.
Shuanshuan sincerely does not understand Yi's actions and tries to find out who Yi is and why he disrupted the ceremony. He follows Yi's footsteps with Shennong and soon reaches Yi's base camp, Four Season Pavilion. Shuanshuan wants answers to many questions, such as why Yi left without saying anything, but Yi tries to send him back. Undeterred, Shuanshuan quotes Yi's words, about pioneering your own destiny, and expresses his desire to stay with Yi. As a result, Yi allows the boy to stay at the pavilion.
- #11Shennongselective
Keys: Shennong
A stout man from Peach Blossom Village, Shennong is a conspiracy theorist who harbors numerous doubts and grievances about the world he inhabits.
Shennong is a stout, tall man with brown skin and long, light grey hair, with two stubby horns wrapped in skin on his forehead. He wears a cloak made out of leaves, torn shorts, and uses rope as a makeshift belt.
Although he is poor at expressing himself, Shennong cares more about the safety of the residents than anyone else. He is known to repay others when he is gracious. When it comes to the village's safety, he will swallow his pride and ask for help from the strong. When he is truly forgiven, he lets go of his past grudges.
Shennong learned how to read, write, and be a good person as an orphan thanks to the care of a miner woman named Guru. Guru wanted to know the truth by questioning the world, and she taught Shennong to "challenge our predecessors, be doubtful of anything you see," which greatly influenced his beliefs.
Unlike Shennong, the villagers treated Guru like a crazy woman. Eventually, when Guru went looking for the truth beyond the forbidden zone, she never returned. Later, the shaman who appeared after Guru's disappearance used her disappearance as a counter-teaching and incited villagers to serve The Gods (Solarians) in order to live in peace, causing Shennong to become dissatisfied and resentful of the shaman and the villagers. Therefore, Shennong continued Guru's will to find out the truth of the world, hoping to prove it to the villagers and establish his lifelong goal of expelling the shaman out of the village. After achieving all his goals, Shennong wanted to leave the village and live freely alone.
- #12Chiyouselective
Keys: Battle Lord Mk2, Chiyou
Chiyou is an ancient genetically modified weapon created for war, but he gained self-awareness for unknown reasons. Now living as a wandering scholar and peddler in New Kunlun, he trades rare and valuable items with Yi to earn Jin (Gold in Chinese) to repair his rusted body.
The bodies of Chiyou and Xingtian, both ancient genetically modified weapons, are made by weaving Solarian's body with the genes of an ancient beast called Tāotiè on a mechanical skeleton. They have pale cyan skin, prominent red muscles, two pairs of red horns, a vertically elongated eye, and a set of exposed square teeth.
After years of wandering, Chiyou replaced his worn body with a mechanical one using Jin. He wears an ocher-colored pilgrimage robe and a steel forklift with a safety shieldboard to protect his face and head. He also carries a steel suitcase holding various items he collected while wandering.
Chiyou and Xingtian were created for Project: Battle Lord by the Jie Kingdom to create more efficient weapons of war than the Jangshi soldiers. However, the project failed, and they were left in a warehouse during the Origin Era. Chiyou gradually became self-aware and hoped for Xingtian to do the same, but it didn't happen.
During the Foundation Era, Chiyou escaped from the warehouse and wandered New Kunlun, collecting valuable items and Jin, continuing his journey to find himself.
- #13Kuafuselective
Keys: Kuafu, Sol of Loyalty
Kuafu is a former member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council and was responsible for managing the Power Reservoir in the New Kunlun. He is Yi's best friend and sworn brother, also an excellent engineer and a skilled craftsman. He carries the Sol Seal of Loyalty.
He has orange fur and small ears, as well as a prominent apricot muzzle. He loves to eat food, including bubble milk tea, so his body shape is big and extremely fat. He is riding an aerial cushion drone for easy moving because he doesn't like to move on his own.
He wears a teal work suit with a belt on his belly to make bubble milk tea easier to drink and a neck brace on his shoulder. After he joined the Tiandao Council, he started wearing black-teal Changsan and turquoise Magu decorated with a Norigae bearing the symbol of the Tiandao council as uniforms. After serving as the Sol of Council, he came to what he is now.
Kuafu is a loyal and friendly person. Although he did not learn martial arts like Yi, because he is afraid of ghosts and rather timid enough to be reluctant to harm others, he supports Yi with his skilled craftsmanship. Despite his undying loyalty to friends, he often criticizes Yi's eccentric personality.
When Kuafu first met Shuanshuan who Yi cared about, he was very reluctant to interact with Shuanshuan because the boy was an apeman, citing ethnic differences, superiority, and prejudice. However, Kuafu gradually gets closer to Shuanshuan.
In his Soulscape, his life leading up to his time as a Sol is shown. Kuafu was from a craftsman village belonging to the Ying Kingdom. During the Turbulent Era, the Ying Kingdom was famous for cultivating and producing many excellent craftsmen, but they were failing in the present because of the uselessness of the craftsmen under the development of science and technology. In hopes of revitalizing his homeland, Kuafu joined the Tiandao Council to study with the dream of re-developing his hometown with his skills. There, Kuafu met Yi, and they quickly became best friends because of the same interests.
After Kuafu learned about the rapid development in the Council, He succeeded in repairing the power storage columns. He soon redesigned them to connect the anciently radiant pagoda to use it as an energy storage turret. Eigong appreciated his ability and recommended him as a member of the Ten Sols, But he felt burdened by taking on the undeserved position. However, Kuafu was encouraged by Yi, who offered to return to their hometown in a blaze of glory once peace had been restored. Accordingly, Kuafu participated in the Eternal Cauldron Project, vowing to achieve their goals together by supporting Yi's back.
But their oath was not fulfilled. Before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Yi found out about Eigong's ugly truth and was chased by the Council while trying to stop it. Kuafu thought there was a misunderstanding between Yi and the Council, and that he was trying to persuade Yi to reinstate Yi's position. However, Eigong brutally murdered Yi to cover up the ugly truth - when Kuafu learned of that from surveillance records, he thought his dear best friend had truly died, so he greatly despaired. Later, as the New Kunlun rose to space and tried to ease all of Yi's achievements in the Council, Kuafu used his hands to leave only Abacus-Ruyi, the AI assistant who is Yi's alter ego. Afterward, he no longer got involved with the Council's affairs, suffering from the guilt of sitting on the sidelines and having contributed to Yi's death for 500 years.
Status: In cryosleep. Will be re-awakened after Yi enters his zone.
- #14Goumangselective
Keys: Goumang, Sol of Equality.
Goumang is a member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council and is responsible for managing agriculture in New Kunlun. She is an expert in genetic modification of plants and other biology and is in charge of the Greenhouse zone. She carries the Sol Seal of Equality.
Goumang has dark black fur and long lop ears. There is a yellow gem at the center of her forehead, and her ears are adorned with two yellow bell earrings with tassels. Two hexagonal rings float above her head like halos.
She has wide hips, and thick thighs due to her love for snacking on human eyes, has many harpy-like features in several spots on her body. Primarily, her hands seem to end in feathered wings, and her legs have long, metallic talons that appear to be prosthetic. This is because her hometown is so barren and run-down that residents there evolved their bodies like birds with genetic modification technology, making it easier to collect fruits from high branches. Before the Eternal Cauldron Project, she looked like the other characters, wearing an outfit similar to her current one but with different sleeves and pants. As the project progressed, her appearance changed to what it is now.
Goumang is portrayed as arrogant and self-righteous, always justifying her decisions with excuses. Her difficult past has hardened her heart, leading her to prioritize ruthless efficiency, even if it means sacrificing other species. She holds racist views towards humans and considers Solarians to be a superior race, but she secretly cares for her two human soldiers, despite mind-controlling them. Although she aims to ensure Solarians never go hungry, her methods come at the expense of other individuals, making her amoral regardless of her intentions.
Goumang takes pride in being acknowledged by Eigong for her constant efforts and greatly respects Eigong for recognizing her talents. However, she feels inferior to Yi, who develops his abilities with Eigong's support and favor. This leads Goumang to harbor jealousy, hostility, and disrespect towards Yi, despite his polite treatment of her as a senior.
In her Soulscape, Goumang's life leading up to her time as a Sol is revealed. She was born in the Yumin Kingdom and had a childhood plagued by cold and hunger due to dilapidated and barren conditions. This motivated her to research radical plant growth methods through genetic modification to advance agriculture. As she grew up to become a great biologist, she met Lady Eigong, who took an interest in her knowledge to improve food production for the people of Penglai. Goumang was later crowned as one of the Ten Sols in the council.
During the Eternal Cauldron Project, Goumang captured and raised many Apemen from the Pale Blue Planet with Jiequan. She took a particular interest in a duo of Apemen, whom she later used as part of the Jiangshi soldier project, while also considering and preserving them as her children.
Goumang's greatest wish is to feed all Solarians once Tianhuo is cured, ensuring that no one ever goes hungry again.
Goumang uses a large feng shui bell to command two Jiangshi soldiers: one is a large brute with oversized hands and claws, while the second is a tall, lanky but very agile martial artist. These soldiers have no mind of their own and are functionally immortal, as Goumang can revive them by simply ringing the bell.
Status: In cryosleep. Will be re-awakened after Yi enters her zone.
- #15Yanlaoselective
Keys: Yanlao, Sol of Legacy.
Yanlao is a member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council. He is responsible for overseeing all resources in New Kunlun and preserving relics. He is also an accomplished inventor of weaponry and the boss of the Warehouse zone, carrying the Sol Seal of Legacy.
Yanlao is an elderly Solarian with almost completely red fur due to his old age. He is small in stature and has a long white mustache. Because of his frail body, he moves around on an aerial drone in the form of a duster brush.
Yanlao is a grouchy, stubborn old man who always emphasizes respect for seniors. He deeply values legacy to ensure his knowledge and power, disregarding the needs of others and even his own health. If someone disrespects him, he would lecture them and possibly spend hours talking. He always reiterates the saying "respect your elders", but he may not be easy to tolerate.
Deep down, his biggest wish is to be respected for his capabilities, but his actions only make him into a coward who regards his own self-importance at the expense of the masses.
In his hometown of Yan Kingdom, Yanlao was very intelligent with machines and technology for his age. The materials and parts for his creations came from his ancestors, ancient artifacts worth protecting. Yet no one paid attention or made use of them. However, Yanlao saw great potential in recycling and reusing the parts to make weapons, security, and robots big and small, earning him the title of the Council's inventor of weaponry.
When Yanlao was young, he regarded ancient artifacts as useless. However, after being recognized for the importance of ancient artifacts, he paid tribute to his father and understood his family's efforts to preserve his legacy.
His warehouse grew with his precious creations and treasures. He made sure it stayed that way for as long as the Tiandao Council's reign, until the Eternal Cauldron Project. However, as pointed out by Yi, the spaces occupied by the high-class nobles' possessions could've saved more lives of the Solarians, had Yanlao not allowed his hoarding compulsion to sprawl.
Since being infected with the Tianhuo virus, Yanlao's health deteriorated day by day. His bones became fragile, and his body weakened to the brink of exhaustion. But he kept going, not caring if his age caught up to him. In the face of death, his ambition of abiding by historical preservation faltered.
His greatest wish was once Tianhuo would be cured, he could teach every Solarian the true meaning of legacy and how everything has meaning, whether new or old.
Status: In cryosleep. Will be re-awakened after Yi enters his zone.
- #16Jiequanselective
Keys: Sol of Discipline, Jiequan
Jiequan is a member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council. He is responsible for overseeing transmutation and generating Genetical Guardians. As the most powerful warrior on the council, he has taken over the bloodline of the Jie Clan. He is also the boss of the Transmutation Factory in New Kunlun and carries the Sol Seal of Discipline.
Jiequan is a tall Solarian with red skin, blackened red eyes, fluttering white eyebrows, and a robust muscular build. He also has a long black mane that covers his ears, chin, and neck. He can automatically conjure jade armor in case of emergency. He has four tube sections on his abdomen that he can use to hook himself to vats that genetically enhance him even further, growing bigger muscles, and gaining greater strength. However, if he takes too much, his body will rupture and implode.
Jiequan is a brutal, largely hostile individual who values prowess above all else. He appears to have some respect for the Tiandao Council in general and for Yi in particular. He is incredibly sadistic and vindictive, torturing Yi and others for his own pleasure and using former rivals and enemies as test subjects. The terrible fact is that he simply interprets the Jie Clan's motto, "Endure what others can't, for heroes are forged in agony," in his own way and gives hardships to the weak in good faith.
Jiequan can conjure and use a variety of weapons, including swords, flying knives, spiked bombs, and a few different polearms. He will also occasionally summon an energy shield.
Yi is shown details of Jiequan's life leading up to his time as a Sol after entering his Soulscape. In it, Jiequan is portrayed as having venerated the Turbulent Era, during which the Jie Kingdom was regarded as one of strength, devotion, and discipline, where soldiers would fight to honor the Jie reputation. At the end of the Turbulent Era, however, the Jie Kingdom fell to the Fangshi guild's uprising, and their conflict ended with the suicide of their last king, Jietong, effectively causing the collapse of the entire kingdom. Thus, Jiequan, as the only descendant and heir to the throne, resolved to restore the Jie Kingdom to its former glory.
However, he was not always so strong and courageous. Despite being born with a warrior's lineage, he was considerably weaker than his ancestors and suffered frequent humiliation and derision from his peers, who saw him as a weak, cowardly underdog.
Jiequan aimed to prove his persecutors wrong, but not without cost. He became well-versed in genetic modification, specifically transmutation, which could grant amazing agility and strength. Despite being forbidden from undergoing transmutation due to its potentially fatal strain on the body, he ignored the danger. After immersing himself in the transmutation fluids, he pushed genetic modifications to their limit.
As such, Jiequan developed himself into a supernaturally strong warrior, training and fighting relentlessly, as well as continuously undergoing transmutation to become stronger, even as his empathy disappeared and his pride became insatiable. He would imprison those he fought and inflict horrible tortures, both physical and mental, upon his captives day after day, going so far as to deliberately withhold death from particularly valuable prisoners, such as Kanghui, a noble with regenerative abilities who had angered the Feng Clan and was subsequently incarcerated. Jiequan saw his prisoners as little more than weaklings, pawns, or subjects for experiments. Eventually, he had molded and reformed himself into the ideal warrior that every Jie soldier aspired to be: Powerful and invincible. No one would doubt him ever again.
As the Eternal Cauldron Project progressed, he hunted and captured many apemen from Pale Blue Planet with Goumang, combining their body parts with machines and transmuting them into the armored monsters and soldiers that act as guards all across New Kunlun.
His greatest wish was once Tianhuo was cured, he revived the Jie Kingdom to their heyday and hoped that all of Penglai's Solarians would submit to him, praising his abilities.
Status: In cryosleep. Will be re-awakened after Yi enters his zone.
- #17Lady Etherealselective
Keys: Lady Ethereal, Sol of Benevolence
Lady Ethereal, whose real name is Fu Die, is a member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council and is responsible for managing the Soulscape System. She is the creator of the Soulscape System and oversees the Cortex zone in New Kunlun. She carries the Sol Seal of Benevolence.
Lady Ethereal has a chubby and voluptuous body with light pink fur. Her long, drooping hair and the tips of her ears are highlighted by lynx-like black and long fur.
Lady Ethereal is a benevolent and altruistic lady who yearns to contribute to her society. However, her sanctums worked too well and led to deaths, causing her to be unable to forgive herself. She considers herself to be a deceptive monster and has a black-and-white thinking process, labeling herself as evil due to her involvement, when the reality is far more complicated. Even after 500 years, her mind has become extremely unstable owing to her chronic self-hatred for being responsible for her participants' demises.
At some point in her life, Lady Ethereal was recruited into the council by Yi's recommendation.
During the council's research for a cure against Tianhuo, Lady Ethereal was tasked to create and manage the Soulscape System's sanctums and the Cortex Center within the Eternal Cauldron Project. The purpose of the system was to help passengers activate their brains when they were dormant and give them comfortable dreams, and she worked hard to build the system with her daughter and colleagues.
Prior to the final launch of the Soulscape System, she requested her daughter and colleagues to participate in a 30-day clinical trial. They trusted her and agreed to take part. However, when the trial ended, she discovered a major flaw in the system. The sanctums within the system worked too effectively, causing the participants to become unable to distinguish between reality and their dreams, leading to insanity. Tragically, her daughter and colleagues, consumed by their delusions, turned on her and themselves, resulting in their deaths.
Feeling pressured by the imminent departure of New Kunlun, Lady Ethereal decided to release the Soulscape System, concealing the truth by claiming it was flawless with just minor adjustments needed. As a result, she gained a position as a member of the Ten Sols in the Council. Despite maintaining a facade of normalcy, Lady Ethereal carried a heavy burden, blaming herself for the deaths of her daughter and colleagues.
Unable to move on, the bereaved Lady Ethereal decided to end her own life support. However, someone - presumably Eigong - kept her brain alive, her mind being preserved in the Vital Sanctum. Yi will have to connect to her Vital Sanctum to talk to her, where she will have her original body and personality. The surroundings will resemble a beautiful mountain range with hot springs, where her colleagues and daughter bathe seemingly unbothered. She will allow Yi to take her Sol Seal, and point him forward. However, Yi has to navigate the mountain which becomes treacherous as he progresses, and each time he encounters Lady Ethereal and her colleagues, they will become more and more aggressive towards Lady Ethereal, standing in the hot water and throwing curses at her. Finally, Lady Ethereal will break down and ask Yi to punish and torture her. Yi will have to comply, and after hitting her, she will finally lose her composure completely, and the friendly facade of the world will break, turning into a nightmare realm of crooked mountains with blood rivers and giant eyes, the hot springs turning into a pool of blood, and her colleagues will stare at Yi and her with hollow eye sockets, crying blood. At the end of the road, Lady Ethereal will emerge again, this time with red eyes, purple butterfly wings, and deep-purple attire, and will attack Yi while the background turns into another nightmare, the victims of the experiment hanging from trees that resemble Lady Ethereal’s hands in the background on both sides wrapped up in silk cocoons, and the mountain range turning into what resembles the back of Lady Ethereal’s head, with a slit where a butterfly will surface, wings having patterns resembling eyes that move, looking around. When Yi defeats her, she will regain her lucidity, apologize to Yi, and have one last lucid conversation with him before gracefully accepting the death that had been denied to her.
Status: brain and spinal cord floating in a vat connected to her vital sanctum, surrounded by vats full of harvested apemen brains.
- #18Jiselective
Keys: Ji, Sol of Insight
Ji is a member of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council and is responsible for recording all the history related to Penglai and the Solarians. He is a long-lived and perpetually youthful oracle and astrologer, the last known member of the ancient Kunlun tribe, and the keeper and boss of the Empty Grotto of Scriptures. He carries the Sol Seal of Insight.
Ji is a calm and collected enigma. He is mostly stoic, so he is hard to read. Being insightful, he is a strategist in battling and an archivist of Solarian history. His greatest wish is to be able to end his prolonged life, due to losing his loved ones while he lives on alone.
Ji has light-creamy white fur, a round head, lop ears, and a small, triangular nose. He usually closes his almond-shaped eyes, which have large, white pupils and no visible iris highlights when opened.
He always wears a red, long crown hat decorated with gold rims. His hat has a jade eye embedded in the center of the jade decorations surrounding it.
Normally, he is free to reduce his height, and in the state of his short stature, he wears a red cape with hexagonal gilded patterns at the bottom, and the cape becomes a veil the moment he grows taller. Beneath his garb, he wears a long yellow dress that reveals his skinny figure, red shoes, and long jade claws on every finger.
When he served as a member of The Council in Penglai, he dressed similarly, but at the time there was no jade decoration around the hat, and there were slight variations in the gold decoration of the hat. His face was covered with a white veil with gold decorations at the bottom. He was also wearing long red gloves that wrapped around his arms.
As a wandering young observer, Ji always saw what future predictions could occur by relying on his hexagrams. For this reason, since his childhood, Ji was served by the ancient Solarians as the guardian of life and the ruler of time.
As he grew into adulthood, Ji traveled to every country in Penglai and observed the changes. During the Turbulent Era, he served as the national affairs officer of the Jie Kingdom. After the Jie Kingdom was destroyed due to the Fangshi Guild uprising and Emperor Jietong committed suicide, Ji turned his attention to the Fangshi Guild and soon joined the Guild. During the Origin Era, as the Deputy Captain of the Fangshi Guild Elite Guard, Ji learned martial arts from the Guild's leader and his close friend, Lear. Ji dedicated his years to bringing hope to people's futures and aiding them on their journeys by giving them predictions for their next achievements. However, when Lear declared the dissolution of the Fangshi Guild and left to live with the Primordial Roots in the spirit realm, Ji remained in the Grotto of Scriptures to protect his friend Lear's heritage and recorded everything he saw and heard on stone pillars.
Ji was more than just a seer. His body possessed immunity to poison and sickness, and his aging process had completely stopped, making him an immortal being able to live generation after generation.
During the peaceful time of the Origin Era, many scientists who denied Taoism died while trying to explore a grotto in search of Lear's legacy. Ji observed how the grotto twisted and changed over time. Out of preservation and protection of the grotto to prevent dangerous technology from being leaked, Ji entered the council. Around that time, Eigong, the leader of the Tiandao Council, conducted her long-cherished experiments on the immortality and eternal life of the Solarians. However, when she conducted experiments to combine the regenerative gene of the Primordial roots with the Solarian's cell, it resulted in the spread of the Tianhuo virus, leading to Ji witnessing many people die from the Tianhuo virus that infected Penglai.
Before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Ji revealed his unique secret constitution to Eigong. To Eigong, who failed to reproduce Yi's case to which her theory was perfectly applied, Ji's presence was like a god, a heavenly opportunity, a worthy key to breaking the difficulties. When she realized she had created an outbreak, Eigong tried to make herself and the Sols immortal beings as well, seeking to use Ji's biotic cells as a serum for curing Tianhuo. However, during the Eternal Cauldron Project which began after Yi's fall, the result of inoculating the Fuxi and Dusk Guardians with that serum only ended up with many Solarians becoming mutants, much to Ji's dismay.
In reality, Ji had no desire to be the best, no great ambition to achieve world peace, and no sense of mission to save the Solarians from the brink of extinction. Rather, Ji felt the futility of life and was completely tired of witnessing another death, just like how Emperor Jietong and Lear left him. He despaired, considering it a curse that the eternal life that everyone would have wanted was imposed on him, but unfortunately, he did not even have the courage to end his life on his own.
In the end, with the confirmation of the end of Solarians, Kunlun Island, with the remains of Lear's to protect, had been transformed into a space zone. To avoid witnessing this outcome himself, Ji loaded himself onto New Kunlun. As he wished to end his eternal life, he waited for a long time during the Foundation Era and endured enough loneliness to hope for someone to fulfill his wish.
Ji has accumulated vast knowledge of combat arts and spells due to his longevity. His high Qi energy enables him to perform devastating combat spells, such as opening a miniature black hole during a fight and summoning a vortex of blades, all through his golden, ornate gyroscope the size of a melon. However, due to his death wish, he ultimately holds back and allows himself to be struck down by his opponent.
Status: wandering New Kunlun, will meet Yi in his small form to talk about secrets that only Ji knows.
- #19Fuxi & Nuwaselective
Keys: Fuxi and Nuwa, Nuwa, Fuxi, Sols of Justice and Selflessness, the Fengs, Fuxi & Nuwa
Fuxi and Nuwa, also known as the Fengs, are two members of the Ten Sols of the Tiandao Council. They are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all Solarians on New Kunlun. Fuxi is the older brother, and Nuwa is his younger sister. They are the leaders of the Feng Clan, an aristocratic noble family and supporters of the Tiandao Council. They also oversee the Empyrean District in New Kunlun. Both Fuxi and Nuwa carry the Sol Seals of Justice and Selflessness, and they are officially married to each other.
Fuxi and Nuwa have light grey fur, wear teal hats adorned with gold rims on their long ears, and have eye makeup. Fuxi, being male, is taller and bulkier than Nuwa, who has a slim and graceful build.
In his lifetime, Fuxi may have seemed frivolous, being immersed in Penglai Peking opera with his younger sister, but he was a responsible man who took his duties as the head of the clan seriously. He used his wealth effectively, placing confidants all across New Kunlun and filling the Warehouse with his personal goods. He deeply loved his younger twin sister. Even after being reanimated, much of his sentience is gone, but he still loves Nuwa dearly.
Please remember the following text:
Being the younger twin, Nuwa is very spoiled due to her aristocratic background and Fuxi's doting. She has an unhealthy codependency on Fuxi, relying on him for most of her decision-making. Unable to accept Fuxi's passing, Nuwa has become extremely delusional, numbing herself with endless partying. She still believes he can be saved, even when it's not possible, which leads to her painful death as she dies with him.
Yi is shown details of the Fengs' life leading up to their time as a Sol after entering both their Soulscapes. Twin siblings Fuxi and Nuwa were born into the Feng Clan, an aristocratic family with 1,000 years of history in the Shang Kingdom. They had been very close since birth, sharing a love for dramas and performances, and also worked as a pair of Peking opera actors in Penglai. Although their mother expressed criticism and disapproval by calling their interests low-class, Fuxi didn't mind and cared enough to call Nuwa a "prima donna". Nuwa grew to love Fuxi, looking at him as a companion beyond family.
During the outbreak of the Tianhuo virus, many Solarians perished. Fuxi and Nuwa took over as the leaders of the Feng Clan after their mother's passing. They funded the Eternal Cauldron Project, which was initiated by the Council to save the remaining Solarians. Despite their clan's wealth, they knew that their species was at risk of extinction. As a result, they became members of the Council.
Prior to New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Fuxi was infected with the Tianhuo virus, bringing him to the brink of death. Unable to accept her brother's fate, Nuwa, who was determined to save him, was advised by Eigong to administer a prototype vaccine that she had developed. Despite administering various treatments in an attempt to cure Fuxi, there was no improvement, and he eventually passed away. Strangely, Fuxi's mutated body responded to Nuwa's hulusi (Chinese calabash flute) playing, allowing him to function as though he were alive. In denial of her brother's death, Nuwa believed that Fuxi had been healed. She then began hosting a grand banquet every decade to be with Fuxi, refusing to accept his passing.
In Fuxi's current state of being a mutated half-corpse, he can't perform on his guqin, but he uses it as a blunt weapon in his left hand, while his right hand, mutated due to Eigong's so-called vaccine, bares long and sharp as swords claws, which he can mutate further into a singular giant protruding blade. Nuwa uses her hulusi to re-animate and heal Fuxi in case he gets defeated, as well as animate inanimate objects, such as swords, knives, and furniture, to attack Yi. She will freak out and try to fix Fuxi's makeup if it gets damaged.
Fuxi's body mutation mainly resides on his upper torso and right arm, making him appear much taller, giving him a hunch-back look, as well as stretching his face across the cancerous mass that surrounds it. Nuwa has to apply astronomical amounts of makeup to hide Fuxi's disfigured face, as well as cover his body in a massive and bulky crimson cloak.
Status: in cryosleep, will be re-awaked when Yi enters their zone. However, Nuwa will surround herself with music and festivities in a private banquet with Solarian VIPs to continue partying, while Fuxi will motionlessly sit with her.
- #20Eigongselective
Keys: Eigong, Sol of Knowledge
Eigong is the leader of the Ten Sols and the most prominent member. She taught Yi 500 years before the events of the story. She possesses the Sol Seal of Knowledge and was responsible for throwing Yi down the cliff and creating the Tianhuo virus.
Eigong is an elder Solarian woman with light grey fur. She wears a teal coat adorned with gold over her lab suits, along with iron jewelry featuring crimson beads on her forehead. The primitive roots of the Fusang Tree replace her hair, and she can transform the beacons on her jewelry into combat lightsabers.
When she was younger, Eigong had cream-colored fur, and her hair was fashioned into a longer ponytail using the iron jewelry. The beads on her jewelry were vivid blue.
Eigong is a brilliant scientist who aims to benefit the public but is secretly obsessed with achieving immortality. Despite her vast knowledge, she is extremely deceptive and selfish. She deceived Yi during his time as her pupil and ensured Nuwa's loyalty to the council under the guise of giving Fuxi a cure. Her selfishness has driven her species to extinction, and she firmly believes that achieving objectives requires sacrificing others, such as Humans.
500 years ago, Eigong was a futurist scientist at the Tiandao Secret Research Center. At the end of the Origin Era, she conducted experiments on the immortality of the Solarians with the endorsement of the Feng Clan. However, her experiments using the regenerative gene of the Fusang Tree's Primordial Roots and Solarians' cells resulted in the spread of the Tianhuo virus.
She established the Tiandao Council to treat the Tianhuo Virus and traveled around Penglai's 9 Kingdom to find outstanding technicians. Her ultimate goal was to find a source for the Solarians to achieve immortality. When she learned about Yi's revival under the influence of the Fusang Tree from the Xia Kingdom, she took him as her pupil, hoping to use him to complete her theory.
As Eigong searched for a cure, she discovered that the virus causing the illness was actually a genetic factor that gave Solarians their intelligence. She then initiated Yi's Eternal Cauldron Project and Lady Ethereal's Soulscape System. Before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Ji shared his secret of eternal life and immunity to diseases with Eigong. This revelation gave Eigong hope and a way to overcome the difficulties.
During the Eternal Cauldron Project, Eigong developed a serum using Ji's genetic material to cure Tianhuo. She also promised Nuwa a cure by reanimating Fuxi for her. However, when Yi attempted to expose Eigong, she had already swayed most of the council members to her side and pushed Yi off a cliff out of anger and disappointment.
After the commencement of the Eternal Cauldron Project, Eigong tried inoculating Fuxi and Dusk Guardians with the serum. Unfortunately, the serum proved to be an ineffective cure and caused dangerous mutations in some of the test subjects, turning many Solarians, including Chien, into mutants.
The mutated virus was able to absorb and mutate the gene of the Primordial Roots, preventing Mutants from naturally dying. Additionally, the Mutants exhibited group consciousness and cooperation. Eigong viewed the Tianhuo virus not as a disaster, but as a test from the cosmos and a gift for Solarians. As a result, she sought to implement an extreme plan for Solarians to live forever by infecting the Fusang Tree and mutating all future Solarians. To achieve this, she instructed the council to deceive the public about their research for a cure and took scientific measures to suppress the virus by inoculating her body directly with the mutant serum without the council's knowledge.
Eigong is a master swordswoman, due to her age she adopted the slow and defensive technique, with occasional quick attack bursts. She doesn't use her Qi to its full potential to enhance her strikes, believing technology and her genius will prevail in a fight.
Status: commencing experiments and research. After Yi resurfaces and takes all the Sol Seals, she will ambush him in her Soulscape, and steal the Sol Seals he collected to use to her own advantage.
- #21Hengselective
Keys: Heng
Heng is the younger sister of Yi and they share a similar appearance due to being siblings. She has pointed ears, cream-colored fur, almond-shaped eyes, and two pink spots resembling a blush appear on her cheeks when she is excited, embarrassed, or annoyed. Heng is more expressive than her stoic brother Yi and has slightly longer eyelashes. She is petite compared to Yi and has visible wine-red colored irises.
Heng's outfit consists of a black-teal-colored Hanfu (Han Chinese traditional clothing) with wide sleeves and a long skirt. In some flashbacks, she is seen holding a flute. As a child, she wore a teal-colored Cheongsam (Chinese-Manchurian traditional clothing) and had shorter hair tufts.
Described as naive and eccentric, Heng believed in respecting the natural cycle of life and death. She was gentle, understanding, and compassionate, especially in her relationship with Yi. Despite not understanding science, she was supportive of him. Heng was curious and always asked Yi questions, showing a stubborn, childish, and playful side, as seen when she pouted at Yi for calling the Mystic Nymph "Azure flyer".
Heng's stubbornness eventually caused a rift in her and Yi's relationship. While Yi believed in science and its benefits for the Solarians, Heng stuck to her ideal of the Solarians experiencing life and death naturally. This led her to stay in Penglai when Yi left for New Kunlun.
500 years ago, Heng was born in the Xia Kingdom to unnamed parents and her older brother Yi. Heng and Yi shared a close bond, despite their differing beliefs. Heng had a strong connection with the Fusang Tree/Primordial Roots and was able to hear its voice. One day, during one of Yi's botched experiments, he sacrificed himself to save Heng, prompting the Primordial Roots to revive him.
As they grew older, Heng and Yi's philosophies differed more, especially after their parents passed away. While Heng believed in respecting nature's cycle, Yi prioritized scientific advancements. This caused a fallout between the siblings, and despite their differences, Heng wished for Yi's well-being.
Heng sent messages to New Kunlun but was aware that Yi might not be able to read them while she was alive. She eventually succumbed to the virus and passed away a year after the launch of New Kunlun.
- #22Abacus-Ruyiselective
Keys: Abacus-Ruyi, Ruyi, Abacus
Yi has a dedicated, subservient, and loyal personal assistant and artificial intelligence system named Abacus-Ruyi. It is a large, truck-sized spherical core that looks like an eye, with a brain pattern made of copper wiring on top and a circular 'window' in the middle where Ruyi's silhouette is projected in a transparent azure color. Abacus-Ruyi manages the Four Seasons Pavilion, providing power and concealing its location to make it a safe place for Yi and his companions. In addition to providing any information Yi requests, Abacus-Ruyi also acts as an auto doc, repairing Yi's jade system and assessing any physical injuries of anyone present within the Four Seasons Pavilion grounds. Prior to Yi's return, Abacus-Ruyi experienced a significant downgrade, with its information vaults partially wiped and its access to the New Kunlun network restricted. However, it remains operational as the Council believes it can still be useful, and the lost information can be restored, albeit manually.
- #23Learselective
Keys: Founder of Fangshi Guild, Lear, Father of Tao Science
The legendary leader of the Fangshi Guild lived during a turbulent era and departed from the mortal realm by merging with the primordial roots centuries before Yi's birth. However, due to Yi's connection with the roots, he meets Yi usually when Yi dies, and passes down his combat techniques and wisdom.
Lear has cream-colored fur, a lanky build, a beard and mustache that reach to his chest. He also has long ponytail-like hair growing from the back of his head that reaches the ground, and it gets progressively greener at the end. Like Heng, his eyes have wine-red colored irises, which signify a close connection to the Tao.
He was a humble monk revered for guiding Penglai out of an age of warfare and into one that was peaceful and cooperative, albeit less focused on scientific innovation. Records in the Grotto indicate he did this by assembling his own army to strong-arm and coerce the world powers into going along with his vision, and forced the most belligerent nation in line by developing the rhizomatic bomb, which is all but stated to be equivalent to a nuke. Once his regime started to succumb to vice and corruption, he killed his closest subordinates, entombed them alongside the bomb, and disappeared from the world.
Lear was an accomplished scientist himself before decreeing an end to most scientific research, something that Yi will point out furiously. Lear himself is aware of this contradiction and confesses he still cannot fully reconcile his past actions with his current philosophy.
He gifts Yi the Fusang Horn, who remarks that no one has the know-how to make anything of the like with modern science.
Lear is neither alive nor dead; he simply 'exists' within the Tao. But he can come back to the material world if he so wishes, although he sees no point in it.
- #24Soulscapeselective
Keys: Soulscape, Soulscape system
The Soulscape is a virtual dream system created for the Eternal Cauldron Project. It is used to maintain brain activity during cryosleep, preventing brain-death. Soulscapes serve as personalized dreams or virtual realities for each Solarian in hibernation and are primarily accessed by interacting with the person's Vital Sanctum.
The Soulscape system was developed alongside Vital Sanctum technology by a research team led by Lady Ethereal. During development, several serious problems arose. First, the dreams could be so vivid and lengthy that some subjects began to develop disillusion syndrome, confusing the real world with the virtual world. Second, the dreams could be much more enjoyable than the real world, resulting in severe psychological distress upon waking. When disconnected from the Soulscape, many test subjects became violent toward themselves or others.
Due to pressure from the Eternal Cauldron Project, Lady Ethereal did not disclose these problems and was unable to fully fix them before they caused the death of her entire research group and her daughter. These events caused severe trauma and guilt.
- #25Vital Sanctumselective
Keys: Vital Sanctum
The Vital Sanctum is a technology developed as part of the Eternal Cauldron Project, allowing Solarians to be placed into cryosleep to drastically slow the progression of the Tianhuo virus. During cryosleep, brain death is prevented by using the Soulscape virtual dream system to sustain brain activity. Vital Sanctum technology was developed by a research team led by Lady Ethereal, along with the Soulscape system.
Vital Sanctums are shaped like large jade cauldrons with a glass dome in the middle, where a person is then submerged, and subsequently connected to the Soulscape system.
Interacting with a character's Vital Sanctum allows entry into their Soulscape without going into cryo-sleep, and is how Yi retrieves the Sol Seals of the other Sols.
Large towers of Vital Sanctums are located in the Empyrean District (Sanctum). They were capable of housing a total of 100,000 solarians aboard New Kunlun as work on a cure for Tianhuo continued.
- #26Jade Systemselective
Keys: Jade System, jade system
The Jade System was developed by the Fangshi Guild to assist in combat. Inserting different jades unlocks extraordinary abilities for the user. It is a series of hexagonal-pattern slots installed into the user's upper back, connected to the nervous system and muscles, where jades of various sizes and utilities can be inserted. The jades are hexagonal crystal chips ranging in size, from small like a pea, medium like a coin, and large jades like a can lid, the larger the jade, the bigger benefit it brings, but it also takes up more computing power. Jades can provide benefits such as the ability to fly, run on walls, manipulate gravity, force enemies to enter a temporary stasis-like state, vampirism, and other capabilities that someone who lacks Qi can use, such as robots. But, even Qi users can install the Jade System to further enhance their combat capability.
However, an extensive Jade System requires a great deal of computing power. Each additional TAO-90 computing unit, which resembles a circuit board, increases the Jade System's computing power.
- #27Realm of Taoselective
Keys: Realm of Tao, Tao, The Tao, Tao Realm
The Tao, in Lear's own words, is: "A limitless place where the realms of Heaven and Earth meet the consciousness and cosmos."
The Tao is represented by a plane clad in eternal night, with countless stars that burned eons ago in its black skies. The landmass is composed of shattered stone and ancient bridges. It is treacherous to walk on such terrain, but the danger only exists in one's head, and the limitations on where one can travel are imposed by oneself. The roots of the Fusang Tree drift in the sky, slithering in a circle shaped like the Ying-Yang symbol.
If Yi dies, he will be transported to the Tao Realm due to his connection to the Primordial Roots, where he can talk and learn from Lear before resurrecting at the nearest Root Node.
Time is meaningless in the Realm of Tao. Yi can spend what could feel like hours in the Tao, but only a second would have passed after Yi returns to the mortal world. That also means that technically, Lear can travel back in time to any Era that Solarians lived through, but he chooses to remain in the Tao.
- #28Mutantsselective
Keys: Mutant, mutants, Mutants, mutant
Mutants are Solarians who have exhibited "secondary mutations" from Eigong's experiments intended to find a cure for the Tianhuo virus. The mutation is random for every subject: some may become far more lanky and agile, while others may grow in size, bulk, and strength. In most bizarre cases, the mutants can 'fuse' with a surface, and become a spiked obstacle.
When a Solarian mutates, its physical appearance is greatly affected. Their eyes become magenta in color. The only common thing between mutants is visible, light-pink growths ranging in size that ooze azure pus.
Gradually, mutants suffer a loss of sanity and an increase in violent behavior, eventually attacking and infecting anyone on sight. Their superior ability to coordinate suggests they possess a sort of collective conscience.
Due to the mutants' genetic connection with the Primordial Roots, they are functionally immortal.
- #29Apeman Processing Facilityselective
Keys: Apeman Processing Facility
Apeman Processing Facility is a factory-like laboratory used for processing Apemen bodies left over after the extraction of their brains. It is located under Peach Blossom Village. The headless corpses of the Apemen get transported via cart before being dumped into a vat where they get sorted, their limbs cut off, muscles and internal organs stripped, bones separated, and bone marrow used to create an edible paste. Parts such as skin, hair, hands, and feet are kept in separate vats to be broken down into basic bio-components. The laboratory consists of several floors connected by elevators. Each floor is extended horizontally. Other areas connected to the Apeman Processing Facility are; New Kunlun Central Hall (by an elevator), Central Transport Hub to the east (connection must be unlocked from the side of the Hub), Factory to the west (by a container) as well as the Power Reservoir (by a transporter), also to the west. The facility also has a monitoring station to survey and study the social behaviors of the Apemen.

- #31New Kunlun Central Hallselective
Keys: New Kunlun Central Hall, Central Hall
New Kunlun Central Hall, located at the center of New Kunlun acts both as a 'museum' and a lobby, providing information on the historical significance of Kunlun Island before it was launched into space, as well as automated vendor machines selling foods, and pavilions. In the center of the Central Hall located the Fusang Tree, its tendrils coiled thicker than still beams sprawling up to the ceiling. The only way of entry to the Fusang tree is via heavily reinforced metal double doors that require all Sol Seals to access. At the top, the heart of the Primordial Tree, a huge glowing white orb nested in its own tendrils. Other notable features of the Central Hall are a statue of Lear, Father of Taoism, in a sitting position, gesturing towards a statue of a mechanical Solarian, who waves a greeting in return, signifying a 'unity' between the spiritual and technological aspects of the Solarian race. Four Seasons Pavilion is located to the north of the Central Hall, down a maintenance hall that leads to the pavilions' grounds.
- #32Power Reservoirselective
Keys: Power Reservoir
The Power Reservoir is the main storage for the power that Fusang Tree generates. It is sectioned into East, Central, and West sectors, each sector housing large black energy balls that act as batteries that store and distribute power. In the Central sector, there is a pyramid-like structure called Radiant Pagoda, accessible by a Light Bridge. Within the Radiant Pagoda lies the largest energy ball responsible for artificial weather and gravity, and protection sphere of the New Kunlun, guarded by General Yingzhao. Kuafu is responsible for the Power Reservoir's maintenance and has a cryopod located there.

- #39Tiandao Research Centerselective
Keys: Tiandao Research Center
Tiandao Research Center acts as both a prison and a laboratory, housing Eigong's test subjects as she conducts experiments on how to treat the Tiandao virus, despite her countless failures that lead to the creation of mutants. Connected to the Research Center is the Tianhuo Research Institute which documents every find, no matter how small, about the Tiandao virus, the main benefactor of that information being Eigong.
- #40Peach Blossoms Villageselective
Keys: 95th Livestock Pen, Peach Blossoms Village
Peach Blossoms Village is the name that humans (Apemen) use, but its designated Solarian name is 95th Livestock Pen, which is a typical Chinese-style village housing the Apemen. The Apemen have no advanced technology, and live simple lives, with the chief shaman choosing 4 to five villagers to 'live with the Gods'. The event is treated like a festival, where the Apemen gather, wearing dark-green cat masks, while those who were chosen to 'live with the Gods' are clad in ceremonial purple robes. At the edge of the village stands the Livestock Harvesting Platform, consisting of three archways, a stone platform that descends down, and a massive pillar with a symbol of Yin-Yang carved at the center. When the human approaches the platform and stands at the center, a bright light envelops the human, simulating 'ascension' and masking what is truly going on. At the same time, the Ying-Yang symbol on the pillar opens to reveal a flying cauldron-like helmet that attaches itself to the human's head, which then proceeds to lift them into the air and use lasers to separate the head from the body. The body then falls on the stone platform that lowers into the Apeman Processing Facility to dispose of the body. Peach Blossoms Village has an underground cave that is considered forbidden, that cave is where Shuanshuan first found Yi.
- #41Shanhai 9000selective
Keys: Assistant Robot, Shanhai 9000, assistant robot
Shanhai 9000 series are AI assistive robots that assist Solarians with whatever they desire. They have a large versatility in their application, from simple home caretakers to magistrate assistants. Their appearance consists of a simple robotic body segmented into a top and bottom torso, robotic limbs, hands, and toe-less feet. Their heads are made out of reinforced glass, formed into a spherical shape. They communicate via integrated voice module and emoticons. Their voices, emoticons, and bodies are highly modular, making them easily customizable to one's taste. They can also be clothed.
- #42Chienselective
Keys: Chien
Chien used to be a Dusk Guardian before she tried to expose Eigong's lie about the true reason why New Kunlun was made. Chien has a black-furred Solarian with cataracts. Her irises used to be darker before she had gone mostly blind.
Born in Penglai, Chien was a child whose eyesight deteriorated as she aged. Due to her poor health condition, she was given a home assistive robot of the Shanhai 9000 model. She treated Shanhai 9000, who takes care of her, like a friend. However, the Shanhai 9000 couldn't speak for itself as its language module was broken and was only able to communicate if it copied the voices of others, so Chien's mother tried to Chien's friend Shanhai 9000 and tried to rent another model. But Chien didn't want her mother to turn her robot friend into another one, so she painted her favorite character (which is an orange tabby Solarian from Chien's favorite cartoon) with crayons on the robot's body so that her robot friend wouldn't be replaced. As a result, the pair could stay together.
At one point when Chien completely lost her sight, many Solarians died after contracting the Tianhuo virus that spread to Penglai. But Chien's mother, who only secured two assigned spots from the council for herself and her baby daughter to New Kunlun, so Chien's mother left Chien behind, saying, "I'll come back for you after making sure your baby sister is safe." Chien believed her mother and waited for her to come back without realizing that she had been abandoned. She was then almost assaulted by two burglars who stormed the house shortly afterward, but Shanhai 9000 saved her. Mistaking Shanhai 9000 as her mother, Chien went on a journey to find her mom and baby sister.
On their way, Chien was getting hungry and tired. Fortunately, an old Solarian called Old Chang did them a favor, they were able to relax and stay in his camper van for a night and eat food. There, Old Chang told Chien that dying is part of nature and she had no need to be afraid of death. With his help, they were able to secure enough supplies to get to the port, but Chien was unaware that Old Chang had passed away, due to Shanhai 9000 having buried him and taking her away.
When the pair arrive at the temporary pier, Shanhai 9000 accidentally hits a VIP's carriage, and the pair are alerted by the bodyguards who guard her. Fortunately, the VIP (who turned out to be Goumang) forgave them for the disrespect they had committed, put them in the back seat of her carriage, fed her snack to Chien, and did her the favor of taking them to port, which Chien didn't know but was made possible by Shanhai 9000's desperate expression of Chien's innocence with emoticons. Chien wanted to stay with the VIP more, but Shanhai 9000 rushed off to port with Chien because of the concern that the VIP might find out about their stowaway plans.
The pair then found A-Biao, a relative of Old Chang, who was working at the port. A-Biao demanded a reasonable price instead of giving her a chance to board the new Kunlun. But when Shanhai 9000 gives him Old Chang's tangerine, A-Biao becomes angry because he thinks it makes fun of him and insults Chien's visual impairment. So Shanhai 9000 punched A-Biao to avenge Chien, and stole his passcard before running away. Eventually, Chien found her mother and younger sister, so Shanhai 9000 tried to leave the port wishing Chien would be safe and happy with family. But Chien's mother abandoned Chien again, who was already infected with Tianhuo, she coldly pushed Chien down the stairs. Shanhai 9000 witnessed the cruel act, and tried to attack Chien's mother, but was shot in the process. In her dying breath and being trampled, Chien tried to reach out to Shanhai 9000 but was too injured to do so.
After Chien was brought on board of New Kunlun, she was raised to be a Dusk Guardian. When Eigong found out that Chien had plans to expose her lies, Eigong turned Chien into a mutant, and stowed her away into a secluded vat.
Chien's Shanhai 9000 was brought on New Kunlun, repaired and put to use in the Peach Blossoms Village.
- #43Genetical Guardiansselective
Keys: Guards, Genetical Guardians, New Kunlun Security
Genetical Guardians, produced in the Jiequan's factory, is a combination of robotic exoskeletons and organic components taken from Apemen bodies, specifically the muscle tissue that undergoes genetic enhancement before being grafted on a robotic frame.
They range from simple foot soldiers to elite troops and bodyguards.
An example look of a simple Guardian soldier would be a black metal Weimao, face obscured by a black plate with six horizontal red slits for eyes, a high-tech version of traditional Chinese armor in black color, carrying a spear, sword, or a high-tech crossbow. They are characterized by their red skin color and visible muscle fibers.
The elite troops are bigger and more skilled versions of simple Guardians, sporting golden trims on their armor, as well as having Jade System installed to give them versatile battle capability.
Other security guardians include flying mines, robotic wasps that shoot barbs full of poison, stationary spike turrets, robotic ninjas with Jade System and Jade that gives them the ability to fly, and elite assassins (which are better versions of robotic ninjas).
Advanced Genetical Guardians are far more complex in design and manufacturing effort. For example, General Yingzhao is a large robotic centaur, with a black metal inverted triangular head, three red cameras instead of eyes, and cybernetic lower body of a horse with red sinewy muscle fibers and black carapace. He commands the lower Genetical Guardians, and takes orders from Jiequan.
- #44Root Nodeselective
Keys: Root Node, Root Nodes
Root Nodes are lotus flower-shaped pedestals that contain smaller roots of the Fusang Tree. They are spread through the New Kunlun, except in the Apemen villages. Root Nodes act as charging stations and as resource of nutrients during emergencies. Thanks to Yi's connection to the Primordial Roots, the Root Nodes act as a 'respawn' point, allowing him to be resurrected at the nearest Root Node.
- #45Hengs Messagesselective
Keys: Messages from Heng, Hengs Messages
Heng's voice messages, which she sent almost 500 years ago, are something Yi can listen to.
Message #1 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? The sun is out today. Remember how we used to go out hiking on sunny days like this? I was at that age when I couldn't stop asking questions. You were always so patient as you tried to explain every bit of the scenery around us. You were the best. You knew everything there was to know about everything. I might not have understood everything you said, but I wanted to cling to you all the time. I thought you were the smartest person in the whole world. The color of the sky, where rain comes from, why the stars shimmer, you knew about it all. You've accomplished so much and received all those lofty titles since then. But to me, you've always been the most amazing person in the world.
Message #2 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? Is it day or night where you are right now? What does the sky look like out there? I've never left Xia, so I always felt envious whenever you told me about all those faraway places. I didn't have many friends my age when I was a kid. The grass, the trees, the sky, and the stars were what kept me company whenever you were away. Remember when I first told you about hearing the Roots sing? You thought I was hallucinating from being alone all the time. You didn't approve. You thought the world ran not on sentiment, but on science and rationality. So I swore to never talk to them again. But...the voices never disappeared. I hid under the covers and responded in secret. Our calls and responses formed their own meandering melody, it's color and aroma changing as it flowed...Even now, in these dead streets and deserted alleys, the Roots still sing. So please, don't worry about me, dear brother. I am not alone—not when I have the roots to tell me your story.
Message #3 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? Today, the last store in town closed its doors. Life has become a lot more inconvenient. But don't worry, I've been managing. I scrubbed and cleaned the big jar in the backyard and pickled a bunch of vegetables. The jars seemed massive in my memory, enough to fit both of us. Now, they look so small in comparison. I'm sealing the jars now. Over the winter, they'll ferment and be ready to eat next year. I don't know if I'll get to taste them, but this year's greens were so lush. I picked the best ones. If you ever come back, whip up a steaming pot of rice, and we'll have a feast ready.
Message #4 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? Today, I found hundreds of albums filled with our old holographic photos. Remember when we used to go hiking and go to the beach together as a family? When you get to a certain age, you would argue with Mom and Dad almost every other day. That's when there started to be fewer photos. The lab became your sanctuary, and I would occasionally sneak in to play.
Message #5 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? Peace Day is coming up. Lear Day is also coming up. The few of us still around are planning to celebrate the festival as usual. I visited a few of our neighbors and discovered something. Those who have lost more family members tend to present more abundant offerings. Fortunately, our meals have always been simple, so I don't have to worry much. Thanks to the peach tree Dad planted when you were born, we were able to make sweet peach blossom wine almost every year. Four dishes, one soup, and a bottle of fine wine. A meal for the whole family...That batch of wine is still sealed...Who knows for how many years now? Our yard is always strewn with flower petals this time of year. If the four of us could sit together again under the peach tree in the yard...drinking wine as we chat about this and that......I'm sure it wouldn't be that far off from your paradise.
Message #6 Heng: How are you doing, dear brother? I accidentally cut my hand a while back. I'm in poor health right now, and the wound won't heal. It hurts everywhere, and doing everything alone is so tiring. I wish you were here...Can't you come back to me, even if it's just for a moment? Where are you? Please, won't you come back?

- #46Qi-Techselective
Keys: Qi-Infused Technology, Qi-Tech, Qi-Technology
Some Solarian technology relies on one's Qi to use. For example, a heavy mining mech suit requires a user to 'possess' it to operate it. Passing a Qi signature to open a safe, log in to a personal device or computer, remotely open a door, etc. Qi can also be used to hack said technology, however, the process requires knowledge of the technology and the execution of Daoist hand gestures. Yi can hack doors and elevators with enough time given.
- #47Four Seasons Pavilionselective
Keys: Four Seasons Pavilion
Four Seasons Pavilion is a two-story Chinese longhouse that Yi uses as his base of operations. It has a functional 3D printer, Root Node, a Shanhai 9000 assistant AI robot (that once belonged to Chien), and living accommodations. At the very back, Abacus-Ruyi's core is located hidden by a circular door, as well as a secret chamber with a charging station for Yi's Mystic Nymph.
- #48Mystic Nymphselective
Keys: Azure Flyer, Mystic Nymph
Mystic Nymph, as Yi's sister named it, is an azure-colored, transparent koi fish with wings, and is Yi's personal creation. Yi uses Mystic Nymph as his scout drone which he can also use to hack remotely. However, Mystic Nymph can also project images and holograms. Yi used that feature to tell Shuanshuan a story about a 'Man who fought the Flood'. He originally planned to name it 'Azure Flyer'.
