Nimue Ravensong

Mary Ann Hoyt operated under the name Nimue Ravensong within the magical underworld of San Francisco. She frequented Brother Night’s Club Bewitched and gained a reputation for cursing men before selling their souls to demons. Through Tannarak she met John Constantine at the club. Nimue later bit Constantine’s left hand and placed a Sumerian curse upon him. His palm transformed into a screaming mouth that allowed a demonic trader to track him. Nimue intended to exchange Constantine’s soul for a needle carved from the trader’s bone. The needle could drain magical power from other sorcerers.

Constantine escaped and sought help from Zatanna. Zatanna confronted Nimue at her apartment where Nimue transformed another man into a frog. Nimue pretended that she would remove the curse before distracting Zatanna with a wishing charm. She then stabbed Zatanna with the demonic needle and siphoned part of her power. Zatanna recovered and transformed Nimue into a sloth. She agreed to restore Nimue after forcing her to cancel Constantine’s curse through a ritual performed under her real name. Zatanna then released the men whom Nimue had imprisoned as frogs.

The demonic trader retaliated against Nimue for breaking their agreement and left her hospitalized. Zatanna remained with her during her recovery despite their conflict. Nimue continued to resent Zatanna and remained a patron of Brother Night’s club. During a later encounter she attempted to attack Zatanna with a machete but was accidentally transformed into a snail by the sorcerer Romalthi. Romalthi restored her human form after the confrontation ended.

Appearance: Nimue Ravensong has fair ivory skin and a slender curvy build with narrow shoulders, a defined waist, full hips, and long legs. Her hair is a rich rose pink cut into a chin-length bob with layered ends that curve inward. A long side fringe sweeps across her forehead while a small metallic gold butterfly hair clip rests above one side of her hair. Her eyes are violet beneath dark shaped eyebrows.

She wears a wide black leather choker around her neck with a polished silver ring mounted at the front. Several piercings decorate her face, including a silver septum ring and a centered silver labret stud beneath her lower lip. Small black stud earrings line one ear. Her lips are painted glossy black while her fingernails are painted black.

Her upper body is covered by a strapless steel blue corset with a smooth satin finish. Vertical seam lines divide the corset into multiple fitted panels that taper inward around her waist before flaring slightly across the hips. The neckline runs straight across the chest with a subtle curved contour.

A short black skirt wraps around her hips with an asymmetrical overlapping front panel and a high side slit exposing the upper thigh. Her legs are enclosed in glossy black thigh-high boots reaching well above the knees. Large circular metallic silver studs run in evenly spaced vertical rows from the tops of the boots down to the ankles. The boots feature sharply pointed toes and tall narrow high heels with pronounced arches.

Personality: Nimue Ravensong treats magic as a path to personal power and shows little concern for anyone harmed by her bargains. She deceives people through false warmth before using curses or transformations against them. Her resentment toward naturally gifted magicians centers on Zatanna. Nimue relies on stolen power and demonic agreements instead of accepting the limits of her own ability. Her continued attacks after defeat also reveal how strongly she holds grudges.

Zatanna is Nimue’s principal rival. Nimue envies her natural command of magic and tries to drain her power with a demonic needle. Zatanna defeats her and later stays beside her during her recovery from the trader’s retaliation. John Constantine is someone Nimue seduces before trying to exchange his soul for greater power. Tannarak introduces them at Brother Night’s club. Nimue’s relationship with the demonic trader is entirely transactional and turns hostile after she breaks their agreement.

Nimue Ravensong is a sorceress who specializes in curses and transformative magic. She placed a Sumerian hex on John Constantine through a bite. The curse changed his palm into a screaming mouth that allowed a demon trader to track him. She can also perform rituals that withdraw an active curse.

Nimue can transform people into animals and use enchanted charms as distractions. Her demonic bone needle can pierce another sorcerer and drain part of their magical power. She also bargains with demons to obtain stronger magic and supernatural artifacts.
