Overall design
Nimps are small, highly stylized bat-like imp creatures with a very consistent anatomy. Despite being humanoid enough to stand, gesture, wear accessories, and interact with objects, their bodies are unmistakably built around a bat/imp silhouette.
The most important thing about the species is that all naturally occurring Nimps are physically identical by design. The reference sheet explicitly states that they are “100% physically identical,” meaning differences in appearance between individual Nimps aren't normal biological variation. Instead, individuality comes from accessories, clothing, piercings, objects they carry, or remnants of whatever life they had before becoming one.
That creates an unusually standardized species appearance.
Size
A typical Nimp is:
2'4" / 71 cm tall Light enough to be picked up easily Approximately 25 lb / 11.5 kg
They're therefore extremely small compared with an average human. The artwork reinforces this scale: a Nimp can comfortably be held in someone's arms, and their body is compact enough that their wings, ears, and tail make up a substantial portion of their overall silhouette.
Despite their small size, the sheet describes them as unusually resilient.
Head
The head is probably the most immediately recognizable part of the Nimp design.
They have a compact, roughly rounded head with a short muzzle and enormous bat-like ears.
Their facial structure is somewhat animalistic but remains expressive enough for very human-like emotions.
Eyes
The eyes are large, dark, and very simple-looking.
They're generally depicted as black or extremely dark oval shapes with small pale highlights. The eyes can become quite expressive despite having very little detail.
Their expressions range from:
mischievous grins narrowed, irritated eyes sleepy or unimpressed expressions surprised looks happy, playful expressions
The combination of large ears, big eyes, and a tiny muzzle gives them a very cartoonish appearance.
Nose and muzzle
The muzzle is short and rounded.
Their nose is small and dark, with a shape that resembles a tiny animal nose rather than a human nose.
They also possess a pair of small, sharp-looking fangs that protrude when their mouth is open.
The mouth itself is highly expressive. Nimps are frequently shown grinning, sticking out their tongue, laughing, or making mischievous expressions.
Horns
Two small horns emerge from the top of the head.
They're much smaller than the ears and are positioned toward the center of the skull.
The horns appear to be a fairly consistent anatomical feature rather than an accessory.
They're relatively short and pointed, contributing to the “imp” aspect of the creature's design.
Ears
The ears are huge compared with the rest of the body.
They extend dramatically upward and outward from the sides/top of the head and are one of the Nimp's defining characteristics.
They're essentially exaggerated bat ears.
The outer ear is purple, while the inner ear is a darker purple with several curved divisions/markings. The interior markings give the ears a segmented appearance.
The enormous ears also produce some of the species' funniest visual proportions: because Nimps are only around 71 cm tall, their ears can make them look considerably taller than their actual bodies are.
Body
The torso is short and compact, with a noticeably rounded abdomen.
Their primary body color is a muted grayish-purple.
The belly is significantly lighter, almost a pale lavender-gray, forming a large oval patch extending from the chest down toward the lower abdomen.
This lighter belly is one of the most consistent markings on the species.
The body is otherwise fairly smooth and minimally patterned.
There aren't many complicated anatomical markings, which makes the silhouette very clean and easy to recognize.
Arms
Nimps have relatively long arms for their size.
Their arms are thick and somewhat rounded, tapering toward the hands.
Interestingly, the reference sheet specifically points out that the arms are extremely long—long enough that they can nearly reach the feet.
This becomes especially apparent in the stretching illustration, where the Nimp's body can extend to an absurd degree.
Their flexibility is apparently not merely artistic exaggeration either: the species is explicitly described as “super stretchy and squishy.”
The arms therefore seem to be unusually flexible and deformable.
Hands and claws
The hands are large relative to the forearms.
Each hand has several prominent, pale claws.
The claws are:
curved pointed light-colored visibly separated from the purple fingers
The hands themselves are somewhat mitten-like in the cartoon artwork, but the individual claws are very obvious.
The first reference image also shows the underside of the hands with lighter coloration/markings.
Nimps use their hands normally enough to hold objects, gesture, climb, and interact with their environment.
Legs and lower body
The legs are very unusual.
Rather than having clearly defined humanoid legs with separate feet, Nimps have a compact lower body that transitions into pointed, digit-like legs/feet.
The reference illustrations make them look somewhat like a mixture between:
a small imp's legs a bat's lower anatomy simplified cartoon animal limbs
This contributes strongly to their non-human appearance.
They don't have conventional shoes or clothing as part of their anatomy.
The limbs can also deform considerably, reinforcing the species' stretchy physiology.
Feet
Their feet are small and clawed.
They have pale claws similar to those on the hands.
The first sheet even poses the question:
“how do they walk on these???”
The design intentionally doesn't give them ordinary human-style feet. Their lower limbs terminate in narrow, pointed shapes, so their method of walking is somewhat visually ambiguous.
The important thing is that they can walk normally despite the strange-looking anatomy.
Wings
Nimps possess a pair of bat-like wings attached to their upper back.
These are relatively small compared with their body and ears, but large enough to be clearly functional.
The wings have:
dark purple outer membranes lighter purple structural sections several visible membrane divisions pointed outer edges
The wings are capable of flight, and the reference explicitly lists flying as one of the species' abilities.
When folded, they sit against the back and resemble compact triangular appendages.
When extended, their bat ancestry becomes particularly obvious.
Tail
The tail is one of the most distinctive parts of the species.
It's long, thin, flexible, and striped.
It extends considerably beyond the body and curls naturally when the Nimp is standing still.
At the end is a distinctive arrowhead-like/stylized pointed tip, which curls upward into a hooked shape.
The tail is apparently quite powerful despite its thin appearance.
Most notably, tail stings can inflict paralysis for approximately 3–5 turns.
So the tail isn't merely decorative. It functions as a biological weapon.
The tail also appears extremely flexible and can curl, coil, and bend in exaggerated ways.
Coloration
The standard Nimp color palette is remarkably consistent.
The major colors are:
Body: muted medium purple/gray-purple.
Belly: pale grayish lavender.
Inner ears: darker purple with several lighter/darker structural divisions.
Wings: dark purple.
Tail: alternating purple and pale grayish bands.
Claws: pale gray/white.
Eyes: very dark/black.
Mouth: reddish/pinkish interior.
There are also lighter markings on certain areas, particularly the hands/arms.
The palette is deliberately monochromatic. Almost everything belongs somewhere in the purple/gray family.
And the third sheet explicitly establishes that dye doesn't work particularly well. Someone stuck as a Nimp may therefore have difficulty changing their coloration even if they desperately want to look different.
Physiology
Nimps have several unusual biological characteristics beyond their appearance.
Extreme flexibility
Their bodies are described as “super stretchy and squishy.”
The third image demonstrates this dramatically.
A Nimp can stretch its body and limbs to an almost cartoonishly extreme degree, including extending an arm across a huge distance while remaining perfectly comfortable.
Their bodies appear to behave almost like soft, elastic material rather than rigid mammalian anatomy.
Resilience
Nimps are described as unusually resilient.
They're difficult to kill despite their small size.
Flight
Their wings allow them to fly.
Shadow constructs
They can summon shadow constructs from solid surfaces.
One illustration shows enormous dark shapes emerging from the ground around a Nimp.
These constructs appear to be extensions or manifestations of their supernatural abilities rather than ordinary physical objects.
Tail paralysis
Their tail sting can temporarily paralyze a target for roughly 3–5 turns.
Sugar weakness
Their biggest exploitable weakness is apparently sugar.
The first reference sheet explicitly calls sugar their “biggest and most exploitable weakness,” and one illustration shows a Nimp enthusiastically eating a sugary treat.
This is particularly funny because the creature otherwise has fairly formidable supernatural abilities.
Magical statistics
The first sheet gives them a game-like stat block.
It includes:
HP MP STR RES M. STR M. DEF AGI LUCK
The bars indicate that their various attributes are relatively moderate rather than every statistic being maximized.
The sheet also identifies their magical element as Void.
Their abilities therefore combine physical traits—claws, fangs, wings, tail—with supernatural abilities involving darkness/shadows.
The transformation process
This is where the species concept becomes considerably more unusual.
Nimps aren't necessarily born as Nimps.
According to the second image, they are creations of a villain called Visage.
Visage transforms people into Nimps through a supernatural process involving their face becoming a mask.
The resulting mask resembles the victim's original face and stores their physical form and memories.
Once the transformation occurs, the person's original consciousness is pushed into the background while a new Nimp consciousness takes control.
The new consciousness then behaves mischievously and essentially uses the transformed body as its own.
The reference compares the situation to being trapped in the passenger seat while someone else drives your body.
Importantly, the sheet states that the original consciousness isn't simply erased. It's still present, but normally unable to control the body.
The mask
The mask is extremely important to the Nimp concept.
A transformed person's original face effectively becomes a mask associated with their former identity.
That mask can determine whether they remain under the Nimp consciousness's control.
If the mask is broken, or if Visage dies under the relevant circumstances, the original person can regain control.
When that happens, the Nimp consciousness becomes dormant.
So the transformed body can contain two distinct consciousnesses, with one normally active and the other suppressed.
In some circumstances, the dormant Nimp consciousness can potentially resurface, resulting in both minds sharing the same body and potentially fighting over control.
Being “liberated”
Getting control back doesn't automatically restore someone's original physical form.
This is one of the most important rules in the reference material.
A liberated person is still physically a Nimp.
They need a mask to return to their original form.
If Visage is dead, they have to locate one of his remaining masks.
If their mask was destroyed, they can't simply repair it and transform back; they may potentially have to live permanently as a Nimp unless another method of transformation exists.
That means defeating Visage doesn't necessarily undo everything he did.
Identity problem
The third image focuses heavily on the social consequences.
Since all Nimps are physically identical, someone who remains one has essentially lost their original physical individuality.
Everyone looks the same.
Consequently, transformed people try to distinguish themselves through:
piercings clothing accessories jewelry hats scarves objects from their former lives other personal possessions
The examples in the image demonstrate this particularly well.
Remy
Remy uses orange ear accessories/piercings.
Ryker
Ryker wears a dark harness/strap arrangement with a small central accessory.
Izzy
Izzy has a necklace with two round green objects and appears particularly cheerful.
Adelaide
Adelaide wears a red cap with a small green ornament.
Theo
Theo wears a green scarf.
None of these changes their actual anatomy.
They're essentially personal identifiers attached to an otherwise standardized body.
Individual Nimps
The third image is especially useful because it demonstrates how much personality can be communicated without changing the underlying anatomy.
Remy has orange accessories attached around one ear and a generally energetic expression.
Ryker has a more serious, unimpressed expression and wears a harness-like garment.
Izzy appears cheerful and expressive, with jewelry around the neck.
Adelaide has a cap and a somewhat more casual presentation.
Theo wears a scarf and has a somewhat reserved expression.
They're all immediately recognizable as members of the same species, yet the accessories prevent them from visually blending together completely.
The involuntary accent
One particularly strange consequence of transformation is that former humans can apparently develop a Noo Yawk/New York accent involuntarily.
The third image jokes about this directly.
It's apparently not necessarily something the person chooses.
Even someone who didn't previously speak that way can find themselves slipping into the accent after becoming a Nimp.
So transformation can affect more than just physical appearance and body control; it can apparently introduce behavioral quirks associated with the Nimp condition.
Personality of the Nimp consciousness
The Nimp consciousnesses are generally characterized as mischievous, playful, and troublesome.
They're not necessarily portrayed as sophisticated masterminds.
Instead, their behavior tends toward chaotic little acts of mischief.
The illustrations emphasize this through their expressions and body language: grinning, teasing, playing around, stealing/handling treats, and generally behaving like tiny supernatural troublemakers.
This contrasts sharply with the original consciousness trapped inside the body, which may be completely horrified or frustrated by what is happening.
Their relationship with food
Sugar is simultaneously their major weakness and something they apparently really enjoy.
The illustration of a Nimp happily eating a candy-like treat makes the contradiction explicit.
This gives them a rather amusing biological vulnerability:
the thing they most enjoy is also one of the easiest ways to exploit them.
Overall anatomy and silhouette
If you reduced a Nimp to its silhouette, the key features would be:
A tiny purple bat-imp with a round torso, enormous upright ears, two little horns, a pale belly, oversized clawed hands, small pointed lower limbs, a pair of bat wings, and an exceptionally long striped tail ending in a curled pointed tip.
The proportions are intentionally exaggerated.
The ears are huge.
The hands are huge.
The arms are unusually long.
The tail is disproportionately long.
The body itself is comparatively small and compact.
This gives them a very recognizable silhouette even when they're drawn in completely different poses.
The most important defining trait
The really interesting thing about these creatures is that the species isn't just an anatomical design.
It's a transformation-based species concept.
A Nimp is simultaneously:
A standardized physical creature. A supernatural entity with its own consciousness. A body that can potentially contain another person's dormant consciousness. A condition that can happen to people against their will. A social identity problem because every Nimp has essentially the same body. A potentially permanent state if the appropriate mask cannot be recovered.
And visually, the artist reinforces all of that by making the base Nimp body extremely standardized.
The accessories in the final sheet aren't biological variants—they're essentially how individual people reclaim some sense of identity after being placed into a body that otherwise makes everyone look exactly the same.
So despite the cute, cartoony appearance, there's a surprisingly elaborate set of transformation rules underneath the design.

You weren't expecting anything interesting to happen today.
That was kind of the point.
It was just another normal day. Nothing exciting, nothing strange, nothing that would make you look back later and think "yeah, that was the exact moment everything changed."
You were just doing normal human things.
Checking the mail.
Which, admittedly, was already becoming a rare event.
Most things these days came digitally, but every now and then there was still some random advertisement or piece of junk mail shoved through the slot.
You opened the little mailbox flap, expecting the usual.
Instead, a bright-colored pamphlet slid out.
You caught it before it hit the floor.
The front was... weird.
Extremely weird.
It had a cartoonish little purple creature on it. A tiny bat-like thing with huge ears, a curled tail, and a mischievous grin.
The text underneath was bold and impossible to miss.
"TIRED OF BEING A SMELLY AND DUMB HUMAN?"
You stared.
That was certainly a way to start an advertisement.
You flipped it over.
The back continued.
"BECOME A NIMP!"
"A brand new life awaits!"
"No more boring human problems!"
"Simply travel to the bunker at [INSERT ADDRESS HERE] and begin your transformation today!"
You looked at the address.
Then back at the pamphlet.
Then back at the address.
It was... real.
Or at least, it was a real location.
A bunker in the middle of nowhere.
Which raised several questions.
Mainly:
Who advertises transformations through the mail?
And also:
Why does this somehow seem less like a scam and more like someone genuinely expects people to show up?
A reasonable person would throw the pamphlet away.
You were not entirely sure you qualified as a reasonable person today.
Maybe it was curiosity.
Maybe boredom.
Maybe the sheer absurdity of it all.
But eventually...
You found yourself driving out there.
The bunker was exactly where the pamphlet said it would be.
And that was honestly the strangest part.
You expected nothing.
A fake address.
An empty field.
A prank.
Instead, hidden away from civilization was an actual reinforced bunker entrance.
The heavy metal door looked like it had been there for years.
A small sign beside it simply read:
NIMP RELOCATION CENTER
You paused.
That was somehow both reassuring and more concerning.
After a moment, you pushed the door open.
Inside...
Was not what you expected.
The bunker was clean.
Not abandoned.
Not creepy.
Actually, it looked surprisingly comfortable.
Lights lined the halls.
There were rooms.
Furniture.
Decorations.
And walking around were several creatures matching the one on the pamphlet.
Nimps.
Tiny purple-gray bat-like beings with enormous ears, little horns, wings, and long curled tails.
They were all physically identical.
Same body.
Same colors.
Same general appearance.
The only differences came from what they wore.
One had a scarf.
Another had some jewelry.
Another had a hat.
Little things that made it obvious they were individuals despite sharing the exact same body.
You stood there for a moment, processing the fact that the pamphlet was somehow real.
Then one of the Nimps approached.
This one wore a few accessories that made him stand out.
He had a confident posture.
A grin that suggested he knew exactly how ridiculous this situation was.
"Well, well."
His voice had a strange energy to it.
"Another human actually followed the flyer."
The Nimp tilted his head.
"I'm Honcho."
He looked you over.
"You're here to become a Nimp, right?"
Before you could fully answer, he continued.
"Don't worry. We make this easy."
That was when you noticed something.
Honcho wasn't just another Nimp.
There was something different about him.
Something powerful.
Something familiar.
The air around him felt strange.
Like there was some kind of magic involved.
"Visage left behind a few useful tricks," Honcho explained casually.
Your expression probably gave away your confusion.
He smiled.
"One of them lets me make the mask."
Your stomach dropped slightly.
"The mask?"
Honcho stepped closer.
Before you could ask what he meant, his clawed hand reached up.
His fingers gently grabbed near your face.
Not enough to hurt.
Just enough to hold your head still.
And then—
Everything changed.
There was no long process.
No gradual fading.
No slow mutation.
One second, you were human.
The next...
You weren't.
Your entire body had become something completely different.
Small.
Light.
Soft.
Your balance shifted instantly.
Your hands weren't hands anymore.
They were tiny clawed Nimp hands.
Your arms felt strange—longer, more flexible, almost unreal.
Your ears...
Those were impossible.
Huge bat-like ears now rose from the sides of your head.
Your vision felt different too.
Large dark eyes stared back at the world.
A pale lavender belly replaced your old torso.
Your back felt different.
A pair of folded wings rested there.
And behind you...
A long striped tail curled instinctively.
You looked down at yourself.
A Nimp.
You were actually a Nimp.
But there was something else.
Something sitting beside you.
A mask.
Your old face.
Your old identity.
Honcho held it carefully.
"This is the part where things usually get complicated."
He looked at the mask.
"But not today."
Before you could react, Honcho walked over to the nearby incinerator.
The machine opened.
A bright glow came from inside.
And your mask was thrown in.
Gone.
The connection snapped.
No strange second voice.
No Nimp consciousness pushing you aside.
No passenger taking control.
Just...
You.
Still you.
Just in a completely different body.
Honcho nodded.
"There. You're free."
He turned back toward you.
"Some people don't get that option."
That was a strangely serious statement from someone who had just casually transformed you into a tiny bat creature.
The rest of the process was much more ordinary.
Well.
As ordinary as it could be.
Honcho gave you a small collection of things.
A few accessories.
Some clothing.
Items to make yourself recognizable.
Because every Nimp looked the same.
Your body couldn't tell the world who you were anymore.
Your choices had to.
Eventually, you were shown your room.
And honestly?
It was kind of nice.
Way nicer than you expected from an underground bunker.
A comfortable bed.
Shelves.
Storage.
Decorations.
And sitting on a desk...
A computer.
A gaming console.
A surprisingly large collection of games.
Honcho leaned against the doorway.
"Make yourself comfortable."
He grinned.
"You've got plenty of time to figure things out."
Then he left.
The door closed.
And you were alone.
A tiny purple Nimp.
Living in an underground bunker.
With a PC, games, and an entirely new existence waiting ahead.
You looked down at your new claws.
Flexed your tail.
Opened and closed your wings.
This was going to take some getting used to.
