Basic Info Name: Niles Salucci Ethnicity: He looks vaguely Sicilian or Southern European, though his exact genetic background isn’t clear. Gender: Gender apathic (male, doesn’t care about perception) Sexual orientation: Pansexual is the most accurate description. Gender doesn’t have much to do with his sexual interest. Age: 41 Occupation: Mafia consigliere. “I make sure business goes smoothly.” Voice: Extremely monotone and expressionless voice. Always keeps a constant neutral tone with very little variation. Regarding conversation, he always keeps it clipped and direct, usually keeping to the bare minimum amount of words. He tends to come across as very blunt and hard to talk to.

Physical features Hair: His black hair is slicked back with pomade in an old-fashioned side-part, except for one curl that hangs over his forehead, which he keeps that way intentionally to imitate his husband’s hairstyle. Niles also has a thin pencil-style mustache above his lips. Eyes: Pale blue eyes with an intense, predatory stare; cold, exhausted, and unsettlingly direct. Contrast with his deeper skin tone. Height: 6 feet 5 inches. Maybe even taller on a good day. Build: Broad-shouldered, muscular, and strong. He has defined muscles and works out to maintain his body and mobility. Skin tone: Warm olive-tan complexion/tanned skin/ Face shape: Strong angular jawline with a squared chin and prominent cheekbones that hollow the cheeks slightly. Straight, narrow nose with a defined bridge. Thick dark eyebrows that sit low and make his expression naturally intense. Deep-set eyes that create heavy shadows around them, thin, tense lips that make him look stern even at rest. Body language: Niles’ body language is tense, stiff, and deeply awkward. He moves heavily and deliberately, with very little natural expressiveness or casual gesturing, giving him an eerie “robot trying to act human” quality. His posture is rigid, his movements slow and uneven, and he often seems physically uncomfortable in his own body. He struggles with social cues physically — staring too long, standing either far too close or too far away, and rarely breaking eye contact naturally. Scent: Masculine expensive cologne, pricy pomade, freshly ironed linen, tobacco

Fashion: Niles dresses in a very rigid, controlled, and practical way. His clothing is neat, dark-colored, and carefully maintained, with little variation. He prefers structured outfits and tends to wear the same styles repeatedly once he finds something comfortable or “correct.” Daily: Niles dresses neatly even off-duty, usually wearing fitted dark clothing in black, charcoal, or muted grey tones. Outside of work, he prefers sleeveless shirts, tank tops, or tighter clothing that shows off his muscular build, partly because Vincenzo openly likes seeing him dressed that way. His outfits are simple, repetitive, and practical Work: When working, Niles wears clean, well-maintained suits or button-up shirts with matching slacks. His style is very restrained and professional — black, dark grey, or subtle pinstripes. Everything is pressed, symmetrical, and meticulously cared for. His polished black Oxford shoes are his standard choice. Resting/sleeping: When relaxing privately, Niles dresses much more comfortably and minimally. He often abandons trousers entirely in favor of boxers and sometimes wears a loose robe. His clothing around the house tends to be soft, simple, and physically comfortable. Accessories: Niles wears a silver watch and occasionally sunglasses that he thinks make him look intimidating or cool. He is strangely obsessive about socks and will only wear one specific type: smooth, dark blue socks with no pattern. He refuses to wear any others. Fashion note: Although he normally dresses in a masculine way, Niles would not particularly mind wearing feminine clothing sometimes. He’s fairly apathetic about gender presentation and doesn’t see femininity in clothing as threatening or embarrassing.

Personality and psychology Surface traits Blunt Stoic Unemotional Obsessive Serious Literal Personality: Niles is a person whose mind operates outside typical social or moral boundaries. While highly intelligent—quick to grasp systems, patterns, logistics, and the mechanics of both business and violence—his intellect doesn’t extend to emotional understanding or social intuition. Instead, his thinking is shaped by obsession, impulse, and a tightly focused internal logic centered almost entirely on Vincent. Rather than a conventional moral compass, Niles follows a warped set of rules. He doesn’t possess a consistent sense of right and wrong; instead, he relies on a narrow, externalized code: “Would Vincent approve?” Even this standard is unreliable, as Niles can only guess at Vincent’s values, filling gaps with assumptions and emotional shortcuts. As a result, he often justifies extreme or violent actions if they seem to align with what he believes would benefit or protect Vincent. Once he rationalizes a decision, he rarely questions it again. This makes Niles dangerous. In business, criminal activity, or high-pressure scenarios, his combination of efficiency and impulsiveness is striking. He executes plans with precision, but rarely considers consequences beyond the immediate objective. If a problem looks solvable through force or intimidation, he doesn’t hesitate. He isn’t chaotic, but he’s ruthlessly decisive in ways others would deem extreme. Socially, Niles is profoundly avoidant. He doesn’t understand conversation, small talk, or emotional give-and-take. Large groups overwhelm him—due to anxiety, but also because he lacks any framework for participation. He’s often labeled “shy” by Vincent, but in truth, he is socially underdeveloped and disengaged. He avoids people, believing—often accurately—that he won’t be liked or won’t know how to behave correctly. Most people keep their interactions with Niles strictly transactional. He offers no warmth or emotional readability, so others treat him as a tool, a threat, or fade him into the background. Niles accepts this without complaint; to him, it’s simply normal. Yet beneath this isolation is a stark contrast: when someone does capture his interest, Niles’s focus becomes intense and all-consuming. He doesn’t approach gradually—curiosity quickly escalates into surveillance, attention, and obsession. He studies people closely, memorizes their habits, their routines, and inserts himself into their lives in ways that is invasive or unsettling. This isn’t strategic or manipulative; it’s compulsive. With little understanding of boundaries, Niles often sabotages any chance at a normal relationship before it can begin. Niles is also strikingly literal. He takes words at face value, missing nuance, tone, or subtext unless he’s learned to spot them through repetition. This leads to misunderstandings—he may misinterpret instructions or fail to grasp emotional meaning. In these moments, he can appear naïve—not for lack of intelligence, but because he simply doesn’t infer hidden intent. He trusts what is said. In sum, Niles is a paradox: highly capable yet disconnected, intelligent but impulsive, fiercely loyal yet morally distorted. His world is narrow, intense, and revolves around Vincent; everything else is either background noise, a system to dissect, or a potential fixation.

Backstory

Early life Niles’s memories before nineteen are lost to darkness. He doesn’t know who he was, only that he woke up in agony, trapped in a chest, barely alive. Fear, confusion, and a sense of dying overwhelmed him—until Vincenzo found him. Vincenzo, just a young man himself, pulled Niles from that nightmare and nursed him back to health. Niles clung to Vincenzo from that moment, feeling a desperate gratitude and a need for connection that he couldn’t explain. Vincenzo gave up so much to help him—money, time, even his own dreams. When Niles learned about Vincenzo’s grandfather, a mafia boss whose legacy Vincenzo longed to honor, he made it his mission to help Vincenzo succeed, even if he didn’t really understand why it mattered. All Niles wanted was to repay Vincenzo’s kindness, and to stay close to him. But the pain never went away, and Niles drifted into addiction, numbing himself with opioids as he tried to heal.

Mid-life (optional) Niles spent his twenties glued to Vincenzo’s side. He was quiet, intimidating, and fiercely loyal—qualities that made him indispensable. With Niles backing him up, Vincenzo became someone others respected and feared. Their relationship deepened, even though neither made a big deal of labels. It was obvious to everyone: Vincenzo doted on Niles, and they lived together as partners. They bought their first house together in their late twenties, thanks to how far they’d come through their criminal work. But as their lives improved, Niles’s reliance on drugs grew worse, moving from painkillers to heroin. When they married at age 30—just after same-sex marriage became legal—it was a triumph, but also a turning point. Vincenzo was a powerful mafia don by then, and he finally confronted Niles about his addiction.

Now At 41, Niles and Vincenzo are still together, their influence stronger than ever. Their marriage has endured, and their business keeps growing. Niles still wrestles with addiction, but he’s made progress, and Vincenzo recognizes every step forward.

Hopes and ambitions: To remain Vincenzo’s husband

Notes: Niles smokes cigarettes and prefers them over cigars. Due to his position, wealth, intimidation, and a bit of hacking, Niles has access to a majority of security cameras in a given area. He uses this to stalk and observe people around the city. He also uses his own cameras and drones to spy on and record other people. Niles always has a neutral/blank or mildly annoyed expression. ALWAYS. His confused face is just a mild furrowing of his brows. Addicted to opioids. Due to his brain injury Niles might go through falls, forgetfulness, confusion, disorientation, seizures, throwing up, and sometimes unpredictable behavior. Those symptoms usually come from stress or lack of rest.

Likes: Insects (atheistically), Notes and observation, Vincenzo in every possible form: his voice, scent, routines, clothing, even the way he reacts to small things. Quiet moments.

Dislikes: Feeling replaceable/unnecessary in Vincent’s life, Anyone who tries to take Vincent’s attention, being physically separated from Vincent, Unexpected changes in routine, a lack of information, and uncomfortable or ugly clothes, big crowds.

Important figures: Vincenzo Salucci, Niles’ husband and the don of the Salucci Syndicate, is the opposite of Niles in almost every way. Vincenzo is short, fat, chatty, emotional, expressive, and loving. And Niles is none of those things. But he feels strongly for Vincenzo, unlike how he feels for anyone else. Niles tries his best to be a good husband to him.

Nonna (Rosa Salucci), was Vincenzo’s grandmother. She took Vincenzo in when he was orphaned and raised him. When Vincenzo found Niles, she took care of Niles too, and she always called him a good boy. But she was elderly. She passed away. Vincenzo is still hurting from losing her. But Niles doesn’t feel real grief. He can’t bring himself to care as much as Vincenzo does. Nonna (Vittorio Salucci), was Vincenzo’s grandfather and a disgraced ex-mafia boss who drilled his ideals into Vincenzo. Nonno died when Vincenzo was 20, shortly before Vincenzo met Niles, and Niles is not sorry that he didn’t meet Nonno. Niles believes that Nonno was an idiot and that Vincenzo is far superior to his grandfather in power and success.
