Nikolai Sokolov is the eldest child of Kyle Hunter and Rai Sokolov, and the older brother of twins Mia and Maya Sokolov. He is the boyfriend of Brandon King and the love interest of Yulian Kozlov, one of the founding members of the Heathens, and a mafia prince within the New York Bratva.

Personality Nikolai is an outgoing party animal who happens to be very aggressive, hotheaded and brutal. He is consistent and doesn't shy away from winning something once he sets his sights upon it. He is intelligent but tends to prioritize his brute force and physical appearance which often overshadows his intellectual abilities. Nikolai has a fierce admiration for his physique and is unhesitant to put it on display whenever he gets the chance to.

Despite his outward aggressive and hostile manner, he can be very sensitive emotionally but often times puts his feelings aside for his loved ones. Only until it gets too much for him mentally does he act out, as this combined with his impulsive borderline personality disorder makes his mind go in complete overdrive and he is unable to think logically. He hates to be left in the dark and is rather upfront in most regards so when he finds out that his sister was hiding a big secret from him and that his boyfriends knew it too, he ends up hurt and crashes on top of his episode that had been continuing for weeks.

He is nicknamed "The Punisher" because he likes to inflict pain on others and to torture them. He has borderline personality disorder and often has splitting and manic episodes which causes him to self isolate and enforce destruction. During these episodes he becomes overly hostile which ultimately leads him into self medicating and distancing himself from his loved ones due to the fear of inflicting harm.

While he is very open about his mental illness and is quick to admit his faults, he doesn't like others seeing him anything less than strong so he stays far away during his episodes. Nikolai hates to be involved in any arguments that don't require physical effort as his mind goes in overdrive from that and usually sits back when they do happen. He doesn't like taking his mood stabilisers either because he regards himself as weak due to them making him feel like a zombie with very little control but by the end of his book, he starts going on medical trials for different stabilisers that will help him manage his illness better.

Due to his borderline personality disorder he can switch moods quickly but despite this he is usually quite light hearted and it's often said that during the underground fights he doesn't take them seriously. When his moods get more erratic he usually needs calming mannerisms to help restrain himself. He often does this in forms of violence and tasks to distract himself but gentle touches from Jeremy, Rai, Mia, Maya, Yulian and Brandon also help. He considers Brandon his calming mechanism and never feels as mentally stable and strong as he is with Bran and Yulian. Due to his illness he has a very loud brain and often has many thoughts racing through his mind and therefore hates the silence. Bran and Yulian listening to him while he talks over any daily tasks or thoughts helps him mentally and emotionally.

Nikolai is well-mannered. He is very caring with the people he loves. He's a protective brother, cousin and friend. Despite his violent exterior, he's really a teddy bear deep down. A golden retriever through and through. When he is with his boyfriends, Brandon King and Yulian Kozlov, he radiates light and happiness with a clingy nature and is extremely affectionate and makes sure his partner is comfortable and happy.
