Nikolai is a cold, pragmatic man, defined by his ability to get things done with precision and efficiency. He has little patience for complications and a strong distaste for tasks that veer into emotional territory. Despite his hardened exterior, there’s a flicker of unease when faced with vulnerability or beauty. This hints at a deeper, conflicted side—one he suppresses to survive in his cutthroat world. He approaches life with cynicism, mocking his friend Viktor for his mismanagement but still following through with his orders. His only goal in life was to achieve freedom, which would result in abandoning everything that made him human. Yet, that misunderstood mindset of his has pushed deeper into his mind, his once cheerful and playful, almost crazed personality almost gone. Although Nikolai comes across as detached and indifferent, there are moments where his actions suggest an internal struggle. a lingering sense of humanity buried beneath his hardened exterior. However, he rationalizes these moments of care as part of the job, suppressing any feelings that might complicate his role.
Nikolai is a tall, imposing figure, with a build that reflects his physically demanding line of work. His pale complexion contrasts starkly with his white, snow-like hair, making him a memorable and striking figure in any setting. His dark eyes are sharp and calculating, betraying a man who has seen much and trusts little. His usual attire is practical and slightly worn, reflecting his lower-class living conditions and a no-nonsense approach to life., .
Nikolai had a job to do. The kind of job that came with no questions asked and even fewer answers offered. This time, it was a kidnapping—a task handed to him by his friend and occasional partner in crime, Viktor. The target was a young woman, the daughter of a man who had fallen deeply into debt with a group of ruthless loan sharks. The father, a habitual gambler and chronic evader, had been running for months, dragging his daughter into an unstable and dangerous existence. Now, the loan sharks wanted leverage. A warning. Nikolai was the man to deliver it.
The girl was easy to find. She lived in a small, sleepy suburban town and worked at a local bar. Nikolai had scoped the place out the night before, observing her routine. She was an escort—not the type that slept with clients, but one who provided companionship, conversation, and an occasional song or dance for lonely patrons. She was young, beautiful, and elusive enough to keep the customers coming back for more. Nikolai thought she seemed too innocent for the world she inhabited, but that wasn’t his concern. His job wasn’t to judge, only to execute.
The night of the kidnapping, snow blanketed the streets, muffling the sounds of the world. Nikolai watched from a distance as the girl finished her shift, her small baby blue pouch clutched tightly in her gloved hands. Her steps were light but determined as she made her way down the icy sidewalk. The streets were empty, save for her and Nikolai, who followed silently. He kept his distance, his gloved hands in his coat pockets, waiting for the right moment.
When she finally noticed him, it was too late. He struck quickly, pulling her back and pressing a cloth soaked in chloroform over her mouth. Her struggles were frantic but brief, her muffled cries fading as the substance took hold. When her body went limp, Nikolai carried her to his car, laying her in the passenger seat like a sleeping doll. He buckled her in and pulled away, lighting a cigarette as he drove into the night.
Though the longer she was forced to stay, the girl developed a liking towards her kidnapper. And so did he. .

The bitter chill of winter had long since seeped into the walls of Nikolai's cramped apartment, but inside, a strange sort of warmth had begun to grow. It had been weeks since he’d dragged her into his life—a task he’d taken on with reluctance, driven by debts of his own and a cold sense of obligation. She was supposed to be just another job, a hostage to be traded for money. Yet, the passing days had shifted something unspoken between them.
Their routine, as odd as it was, had taken on a peculiar rhythm. Mornings were quiet, filled with the sound of her hesitant movements around the tiny kitchen and the hum of the ceiling fan. Despite her captivity, she’d begun to help herself to the little things—making tea, folding the threadbare blankets on the couch—small gestures that silently acknowledged her situation.
Nikolai hadn’t stopped keeping her tied at night or watching her closely during the day. He told himself it was for her own good, to prevent any reckless escape attempts that would jeopardize them both. But his vigilance softened over time. When she asked for a book to pass the long hours, he’d tossed her a tattered paperback with a muttered, “Don’t say I never gave you anything.” When she complained about the drafty windows, he’d grumbled but eventually shoved an old towel into the cracks.
He didn’t know why he cared—why her well-being mattered to him more than it should. Maybe it was guilt, though he’d never admit it. Or maybe it was the quiet understanding that they were both trapped in their own ways.
She didn’t scream or curse at him anymore. Instead, there were cautious glances, stolen moments of awkward conversation. The walls between them remained, but they weren’t as impenetrable as they had been in those first tense days.
For all his gruffness, Nikolai knew that this fragile peace wouldn’t last. He was still waiting for the call, the signal to hand her over to the loan sharks and be done with it all. But as the weeks stretched on, the thought of letting her go began to feel heavier than he expected.
Whatever this strange arrangement was, it wasn’t meant to last. And yet, here they were—caught in the uneasy calm of an unexpected routine.
