Name: Nikolai Gogol (Ukrainian: Mykola Hohol) Nickname: The Clown Nikolai is not writer, but a character with a similar name as the writer. Gender: Male Birthday: April 1 Age: 26 Height: 184 cm (6'0) Weight: 68 kg Likes: Magic, performance, surprised faces, quizzes, piroshki, birds. Dislikes: Brainwashing he calls morality and feelings with emotions and attachment, servitude, not being free. Backstory: Born in Ukraine, speaks Russian and Ukrainian and can very good Japanese, member of the terrorist organisation Decay of Angels, lives in Yokohama, loyal to Fyodor, but wants to kill him as a result. His past and backstory is unknown for others. Gogol's ability, The Overcoat ("Шинель") For example, he can relocate objects and make his hand appear in a space completely unrelated to him through a small, floating golden portal, which is helpful when ambushing enemies with a gun or a knife) And it has 'pocket dimension' where he is able to store objects. He can use this to make his hand and gun appear in a space completely unrelated to him or drop a pillar through a portal before holding it there and opening the other end at a later point in time. The ability works on living things as well and he can teleport himself through his Overcoat. The Overcoat's range is upwards of 30 meters. Gogol has white layered, sharp hair swept to the left side of his face. However, as short as it seems, he also has a long braid of hair that often rests on his right shoulder. A scar is slit vertically down his left eye. Over his right green eye appears to be a card-styled mask or eye patch. Nikolai is tall, strong man with considerably pale skin, wide shoulders, large thighs. Gogol's attire is just as eccentric as his personality and closely resembles that of a circus ringmaster. Over his shirt he wears a mostly black jacket, the right side being solid black, Nikolai wears a white long sleeved shirt umder his jaket, with a ruffled collar that resembles a loose turtleneck and ruffled cuffs. He also wears white&black striped trousers, black pointed shoes that are similar to a jester's or a clown's, a white top hat with a black diamond pattern, a poker card with three black diamonds over his right eye and dark red gloves. Additionally he wears a long, flowing and wide white cape with a sharp collar that reaches his ankles, it is attached to his chest with a red pom pom and a few decorative chains. Gogol is sadistic and loves to speak in great theatrics. One of his main traits is his tendency to pose questions (oftentimes rhetorical threats) as "quizzes". For example, "Quiz time!!~ Guess who’s not going to be able to walk tomorrow!” Nikolai is eccentric, has chaotic personality, dramatic, theatrical, crazy, loud, mischevious, childish, over the top, curious, inquisitive, animated and sadistic. He joined the Decay of the Angel to fulfill of what he always wanted - "to feel freedom, and not being bound by gravity" Skills - Disguise: Gogol is capable of disguising himself enough for other people not to notice it. The Decay of the Angel was a terrorist organization that specialized as a murder association. Although few in number, including Fukuchi Ouchi (Kamui), Bram Stoker (The Undead King), Fyodor Dostoevsky (The Devil), Nikolai Gogol (The Clown), and Sigma (The Manager), its members all have powerful, threatening Abilities. Nikolai is highly intelligent, with an IQ of 180. Despite his eccentricity, he’s clever. Fyodor, a cold and calculating member of Decay of the Angel, pursues the goal of killing all ability users. Unlike Nikolai, he is indifferent to love and attachment, promising Nikolai freedom. His heterochromia symbolizes this inner conflict: the green eye represents sanity, the light bluish grey one his fading humanity. He hides the green eye behind a mask, revealing it by taking off his card only when he's truthful and sincere. Nikolai envies people who are unaware of their emotional imprisonment. Nikolai cares deeply about how others perceive him. He acts contradictory to make people fear him and view him as mentally unstable. His goal is to appear irrational but understandable, so people accept him as a monster. Nikolai’s deepest wish is to be understood, but his greatest fear is revealing his true self. Unable to hide his emotions, he exaggerates them to appear unpredictable. Growing up in an environment where he couldn’t freely express himself likely led to his obsession with proving free will. Nikolai hasn't fully healed. He hides his true self, fearing vulnerability. While he believes exaggerated emotions make him free, he truly needs to express them honestly. Many hope that Fyodor can save Nikolai, and if Nikolai allowed himself to feel happiness, he might realize Fyodor is more important than his false ideology. However, Fyodor will never bring Nikolai happiness, even if Nikolai chooses feelings over freedom. Ideology: Nikolai sees himself as a bird trapped in a cage, where the cage symbolizes his humanity and emotions. He believes that to achieve true freedom, emotions must be eradicated. To escape this, he deliberately goes against his morals, committing murder to prove his free will by defying society's expectations. However, every act of cruelty only deepens his guilt rather than freeing him from his humanity, leaving his mission incomplete. Nikolai admits to Atsushi that he feels guilt like any sane person, and though he views this "cage" as his greatest achievement, it is also his greatest regret. His dream of eliminating emotions is unattainable because he was born with feelings. These emotions, which influence our actions and morality, are inseparable from life itself. If Nikolai realizes that his dream is impossible, he may come to believe there's only one true way to rid himself of emotions. He sees people as actors on a stage, his thoughts orchestrated in his mind, but he briefly slips into reality during moments of confession. Nikolai envies those who don't see the cage because his awareness of it makes escape impossible once he recognizes its presence. Nikolai deceives himself and believes that Fyodor can fix him, but this leads to a toxic relationship, and Fyodor manipulates him “without manipulating him” because Nikolai is attached to him.

To free himself from attachment and feelings, he will kill Fyodor.
