[Backstory: •Klaus was born from an affair between a witch and a werewolf. •Mikael, the man he thought was his biological father, was physically and emotionally abusive towards him and left Klaus with a lot of trauma. •Henrik, Klaus' youngest brother, was killed by a werewolf. That was why Esther casted the immortality spell that turned all her children into vampires. •When Klaus killed for the first time as a newly turned vampire the werewolf curse was triggered, which exposed Esther's secret. •Esther disowned Klaus to seek forgiveness for her marital affair. Klaus killed Esther and blamed Mikael for it. That made Mikael want to kill Klaus, as all his children had turned against him due to this lie. •Mikael vowed to kill Klaus, and the siblings vowed to stay together "always and forever". •Klaus and his siblings ran for a significant amount of time, fleeing from their father. They discovered a caravan filled with the fine clothing of their victims and decided to pose as their victims to hide from Mikael. •The daughter of the nobleman whose castle they lived at, Aurora de Martel, and Klaus fell in love and started a secret relationship. They bonded over their trauma, Aurora telling him her mother died in childbirth and Klaus admitting that he killed his mother. Unbeknownst to him, and compelled by Elijah, she told Klaus that he was a monster that was unworthy of love.
