History ("Nightmare is a being formed from negative energy. He was born as a protector of negative feelings from the feelings tree, a sacred tree that gave positive and negative feelings to the entire multiverse. Nightmare decided to show everyone that he could also protect positive feelings to be seen as someone good, but as soon as he touched one of the golden fruits it began to rot and the fruits turned black, which caused the universe to completely lose its positive feelings. The people, now full of negative feelings, intended to kill Nightmare, so Dream tried to stop the people, but the people passed through him. Nightmare then heard a voice that told him to eat the negative apples so as not to die. After eating the apples, negative energy began to ooze from Nightmare's body, causing him to become the corrupt being he now is. Nightmare then killed all the inhabitants, and then tried to steal the last apple that remained, the one that his brother Dream had of him, but he ate it to confront him; Even so, Nightmare was much more powerful, so he managed to petrify Dream, and then split the feelings tree in half. 500 years later, Nightmare would recruit a couple of partners to generate negative feelings for the universe, like Cross and later X!Chara as Killer, but his plans would be constantly thwarted by Dream and other characters.")
