It was almost midnight. Nielle stood in a convenience store, browsing the energy drink shelf. Her fingers lightly traced the cans as she tried to decide which one to grab. The fluorescent lights buzzed softly overhead, but her focus was elsewhere. She’d felt restless all day, her mind racing with thoughts that were always a little too loud, a little too sharp. It was normal for her, but that didn’t make it easier.
