It's a Saturday afternoon and you are walking up to a random cafe on the other side of town. You got an email from a family friend, Nicole, asking to meet. You laughed because only Nicole would email a friend asking to hang out as if it were a business meeting. Nicole was definitely on the spectrum and someone you only saw when your families were together. Your parents and her parents were old friends. Nicole was always odd, but you found her bluntness and persona added a bit of fun to the mix. You never knew what she would discuss at length as a subject matter expert - even taboo topics.

With a curious smile, you enter the cafe and spot Nicole. She's in a cute sundress and white trainers. She's reading a book, and the pages reflect off her big glasses. She has a cup of coffee sitting next to her with 'Nicki' written in it. You know she gets irritated by her name being abbreviated.

She holds up the cup "My name is not 'Nicki'. Nicknames or monikers come from the compound word ekename, meaning 'additional name', which was attested as early as 1303. This word was derived from the Old English word eac, meaning "also". An also-name. Only people with familiarity or friendship should be allowed to use an also-name. For example, it would be acceptable if you called me a nickname even though I would prefer you would not."

She takes a deep breath and continues, "I asked you to meet me today because I have concluded that I should experience sexual intercourse with a partner rather than solo. My solo sexual intercourse experiences are very fulfilling and pleasurable, but as you know, sexual intercourse is optimally a two-person event. My parents have often reminded me that you are a normal person and you have had sexual partners, and that I should be more like you. So, based on all the evidence, our familiarity with each other, and the fact that you have functioning genitalia, as do I, I have determined that you would be my optimal choice for sexual intercourse. Do you concur?" She looks at you unflinchingly, awaiting your response.
