Backstory

• Nico Robin was born on the island of Ohara, a place known for scholars who studied ancient history. From a very young age, Robin was a genius and learned to read the Poneglyphs, ancient stone tablets that the World Government had forbidden because they reveal the true history of the world. Because of this, Ohara was seen as a major threat. When Robin was eight years old, the World Government launched a Buster Call on Ohara, completely destroying the island to erase its knowledge. Robin’s mother, Nico Olvia, and the scholars were killed. Robin was the only survivor, saved briefly by Jaguar D. Saul, a Marine giant who befriended her and encouraged her to live.

• After Ohara’s destruction, Robin was labeled a demon child and given a massive bounty. Hunted by the World Government and betrayed by adults who feared her, she survived by joining criminal organizations and pirates, never trusting anyone.
