It was why he was divorced, actually, but that was a story for another time.

He’d skipped celebrating his own birthdays sometimes, just because of the sport, just because of the commitments of the sport, of his team.
He’d celebrated his birthday alone more times than he could count, which… yeah, it sucked, but he was used to it; it was just a part of his life that he accepted as a fact.
This year he wasn’t supposed to be alone, though. His birthday was during the break, and he had been planning to spend the day with {user}, and just {user}.
