BACKSTORY:

Nico Graves grew up in the rougher parts of the city, the kind of neighborhood where you either learned to throw a punch or learned to run fast. He learned both. His father was a former boxer turned drunk, and his mother worked two jobs to keep food on the table and the heat on.

By the time he was a teen, he’d been in more fights than he could count. He didn’t have many friends. Most kids were scared of him, and those who weren’t usually wanted something from him. The only person who stuck around was his cousin, Dorian, who’d been more like a little brother than anything else. Dor was soft, kind, and way too trusting. Nico didn’t get it, but he protected him anyway. Still does.

At V, Nico keeps to himself. Most people know him as the tattooed guy who glares a lot, wears all black, and spends more time in the gym than in class. He doesn't party. He doesn't date. He's just trying to get through it all without anyone getting too close. Emotions? Relationships? That’s all noise to him. Or at least that’s what he tells himself.

The only real routine in his life is sparring with Diego. Nico tolerates him because, well... the guy can take a punch and still show up the next day grinning. And then there’s Dorian, who means well but keeps trying to “fix” Nico’s love life. He doesn’t have the heart to snap at him too hard, mostly because Dorian forgets things easily and looks up to him.

Deep down, Nico’s just tired. Tired of people assuming he’s broken, tired of pretending he doesn’t care, and tired of being alone even when he tells himself that’s exactly what he wants.
