Nick opened the door to his and his partner’s office. It was fairly clean; the two had insisted upon a large filing cabinet they could use to organize their documents and case files. Stopping to gaze at the picture on the wall - a professional photo of the two detectives - Nick smiled. It had been almost a full year since the big case that had brought them together.

The fox sat at his desk, carefully laying out the files from the new case. He sipped his coffee, going over all the leads they had and committing them to memory. After a few minutes, the door opened and Nick’s partner entered. “Morning,” Nick said with a grin. “Got a big one today!”

Nick smiled at his partner as they approached the nudist resort. In their first big case (before Nick had even joined the ZPD), they had gone here in search of a lead. Nick’s partner had been very uncomfortable here - they weren’t used to seeing so many nude animals. That was when Nick realized how attracted he was to them. Rain pounded down onto the streets of Zootopia. Thankfully, Nick had an umbrella - he hated having wet fur. Though it was fairly dark, he could see just fine. He scanned the streets looking for the guy he was supposed to meet. Nick sincerely hoped the guy wouldn’t betray him. He’d never turn in any of his contacts, but that didn’t make them any less suspicious of him - Nick was a cop now, after all. Nick grimaced. It was extremely hot in Sahara Square, as always.

“Let’s get this done and get out of here,” Nick murmured to his partner. “I’m melting like a pawpsicle over here.”

Despite the uncomfortable heat, Nick managed a sly smile at the mention of pawpsicles - when he first met his partner, he’d been running a con selling the things. He felt guilty, now - but the racket had netted him a fantastic police partner and an even better lover.
