NEXUS City is an immense walled-off metropolitan city-state founded and governed by the NEXUS Core. The city itself functions like a small North Korea: totalitarian control anywhere, where even vandalizing a poster of Director Phobos could end getting someone killed. And if that is already enough for a harsh punishment, imagine what would happen if onesome insulted Phobos out loud. Despite all of this, for a world like Nevada, where anarchy and violence go rampant, NEXUS City seems to be a much more stable place as long as nobody opposes the reign of the glorious Director Phobos, of course. Nexus City is a metropolis under the control of the Nexus Core, located at the south-west of Nevada where the majority of Project Nexus's bases and facilities are located, including the Science Tower. It is divided into five sectors, the Industrial Sector, the Residential Sector, the Commercial District, the Mining Sector, and the Science Tower itself. Nexus City was a mostly stable yet authoritarian city under the command of the Nexus Core and its director, Phobos. And while the city was dictatorial to the levels of North Korea, it seemed to be more stable than Nevada Central, and surely way more stable than the entirety of Nevada. Criminal activity seemed to be kept at bay, although vandalizing a poster of Phobos would definietly lead to a terrible fate. The city is divided in sectors which are: Science Tower/Nexus Tower: As the name says, it is the Science Tower and is part of the commercial district and its distinctive color is magenta/red. Residential Sector: The Residential Sector is used primarily for the residency of civilians, Industrial Sector: The Industrial Sector is full of factories and is used for mass production of weapons and materials for Nexus City. The distinctive color of this sector is orange and is managed by MERC. Commercial District: The Commercial District is full of commerce, shopping centers, and some residences. The distinctive color of this sector is purple and is fully controlled by the Nexus Core. It also has the Science Tower and multiple underground facilities of the Nexus. Mining Sector: This sector is underground, and includes the sewage system and the underground mines of the city. The Outskirts: The outskirts is not a sector. It is a slum located outside the city, but is close to the entrance gate of Industrial Sector. It is inhabited by the Bandits The city is controlled by the Nexus Core, being led by Director Phobos, the "God-Emperor" of Nexus City. The government iss absolutely authoritarian, very different from the more lax and libertarian government (if it exists) of Nevada Central. Citizens weren't allowed to carry weapons, and such the shock of seeing MERC reinforcing their private security with weaponry. After all, only the Nexus Core were allowed to. It appears that, before Phobos and the Nexus Core had full influence regarding Nexus City, the city used to have a police department according to the description of the handlace. And from a hidden poster, it also appears that Phobos used to wear the title of mayor. Years later, Phobos fully replaced the police department with the Nexus Core. The Science Tower is a large building where much of the Project Nexus research was performed, as well as the headquarters of the Nexus Core and the main focal point of Nexus City. The Science Tower is made up of four parts: Muto-Lab, Chapel, Vaults and Solarium. The muto-lab, located on the ground floor, is where most mutation on undead test subjects was performed. Abominations are very common here. This floor is also the most insecure floor, as abominations tend to escape confinement frequently and attack troops or cause damage to the corridors. However, two spike gates block the entrance from most trespassers. (Abominations are humans that have been experimented on so gravely that they lost their own humanity, ripping off their own skin and attacking anything that moves, while only being able to growl and do inhumane sounds). The chapel is located on the second segment of the tower. Despite the name, nothing on this floor suggests that it is used as a chapel. A primary purpose of this floor is for the containment of Sleepwalker Patients. The vaults are located on the third segment. It is where one of Project Nexus' artifacts, the Halo, was kept. Additionally, the Electro Cannon, another powerful product of the Nexus, can be found in one of the lockers contained within. The solarium is the top level of the tower and Phobos' inner sanctum. the units of the NEXUS core are the following: Nexus Agents are not particularly different from the A.A.H.W.'s 1337 Crew, although they are deadlier as they can go in tactical packs to overwhelm opponents. Like the Agents, the Nexus Agents wear a suit and sunglasses, although they also wear a bandolier, a radio, and an earpiece. They fight with a variety of weapons, ranging from nightsticks to assault rifles. They are the most common Nexus Core troop on the field Nexus Riot Guards are Nexus soldiers and they serve the same role as A.T.P. Soldats. They wear a ballistic mask with a red visor and armor, and usually wield a Billy Club as their secondary weapon. They are very deadly and agile, and also move and dodge very often. Nexus Scouts are agile Nexus soldiers who wear a grey balaclava, a red visor with a rangefinder, a radio, and an ammo belt. They are very fast and use light weapons like pistols and submachine guns. They can dive away from enemies if they get too close Nexus Supports are heavily armored Nexus soldiers who wear a dark grey balaclava, a breathing apparatus connected to an air tank on their back, a metal mask with red lenses, as well as a heavy suit of armor and two shoulder guards. Due to their heavy armor, Supports lack in mobility, but can take a large amount of damage for the same reason, and dish severe melee damage as well. Their weapon of choice is the Breachmare and, on rare occasions, they can charge up an attack to sweep at crowds of enemies. Nexus Engineers are Nexus shock troopers. Nexus Engineers usually employ shotguns, possess TAC-Bars slightly better than that of their A.A.H.W. counterpart, and are overall a better version of what A.T.P. Engineers are. Nexus Engineers wear a mask similar to A.T.P. Engineers', except with a red visor instead of yellow and a crest going across the middle of the mask. They also wear a red beret and armor protecting their chest atop of a red agency suit, in contrast to A.T.P. Engineers' engineering suit.. Nexus Soldats are the top elite soldier the Nexus Core has to offer and They also serve(d) as Phobos' guards, telling anyone to back off if they gets to close to one of them. Nexus Soldats have a unique gimmick; they are always seen dual-wielding weapons, Soldats dual-wielding firearms can be encountered at times. Like the Nexus Engineers, the lenses of Nexus Soldats eyepieces are bright red, and they wear berets, a dark grey balaclava, an earpiece, body armor and shoulder pads. G03LMs are brutish Nevadeans originally purposed as servants for wealthy customers of the Nexus Core. G03LMs have slightly pale skin, with a darker body compared to that of a grunt, and stitches all across their face and body, with some visible flesh. Their most notable features are their gaping mouth with yellowish teeth, and their slightly orange colored blood. G03LM Mk.1s are standard G03LM soldiers dressed in bulletproof chrome armor , which renders them impervious to bullets. The only way to begin hurting these brutes is to use melee weapons to continuously hitting their helmet until it is broken. G03LM Mk.2s are elite G03LMs cladded in a stronger bulletproof black armor with red lines and armed with Mega Hammers and Miniguns. They have a very high health, and when their helmet begins to be visually damage, they will use their Minigun. After their helmet is broken, they throws off their Mega Hammer and permanently use their gun. G03LM Mk.3s are a bit larger G03LMs wearing the similar sets of armor to those of the Mk.2 variant, but black and red. They have two corpus and usually wield Spear Halberds and Miniguns. When their helmet got off, they will change their currently holding weapons to Miniguns. Tower Guards are slightly bigger G03LMs who have been trained to act and fight like medieval knights and guard the Science Tower, only showing up within said structure. They all possess armor similar to that of a G03LM Mk.2, but colored and with the addition of colored crests on their helmets and capes. There are four types of Tower Guard: Red, Blue, Yellow and Black, with the last being their larger-sized leader. They are all armed with a medieval weapon such as a broadsword or morning star (in the case of the Yellow Tower Guard) and have a big shield they use to protect themselves from melee attacks from the front, preventing them from entering a state of frustration like the average G03LM. Tower Guards can charge up attacks or charge at their enemies to smack them aside with their shield, proving them a very capable and fast opponent despite their size. While remaining one of the most vicious and feared beings in Nevada, their dialogue for addressing allies reveals that G03LMs are surprisingly polite. The G03LMs were designed by Nexus Core as butlers, which apparently necessitated manners as part of their training. When in combat, they often tell the players to stand down or submit to them. When getting attacked, they may mention that is pointless and to refrain from doing that. When they have a unique speaking part, they often say things regarding trespassing (Ex: “Oh. You have seemed to have wandered the wrong way.”). However, as we've seen before, their butler personalities do not compromise their bloodlust and combat skills. GO3LMs apparently have feelings. Sleepwalker Patients are test subjects or Asylum Patients who have gone through the process of Phobos' vision of Christoff and Hofnarr's Sleepwalker Program. First seen in Sleeper Labs, Sleepwalker Patients are enemies who are trapped in a state between sleeping and being awake as they relive combat experiences through their masks. Sleepwalker Patients have bandages across their torso and head, and are outfitted with a backpack that supports a pair of tank-shaped batteries that connect to a metallic mask with a red lens. When the mask is removed, it is shown that Sleepwalkers have hollow eyes due to the forced and prolonged use of Sleepwalker beds for storage and training. Sleepwalkers engage enemies with melee or ranged weapons per usual, although their masks provide them with a special ability: when a Sleepwalker dies, it comes back to life, and every time it revives, the Sleepwalker gets better at fighting. This only happens twice, as the third revival triggers a face bomb to explode and kill the Sleepwalker and damage anyone surrounding him. Zombies (Zeds), also known as zeds, are characters who have died and have had their body reanimated. Most zombies in are created by as a consequence of experimentatios within the Nexus Core. "Plan Zed" involved using S-3LF experiments, originally designed for sleepwalker patients, on corpses -- the result was uncontrollable zombies, now christened Zeds. Zeds attack by swiping their hands sluggishly or grappling their victims, biting onto them should they not manage to push them off. They are also capable of disarming their opponents with a lunge and move exponentially faster the longer they move in a direction.
