Splatoon (AnyPOV)
[Requested by @Milo1621]
Mysterious viral posts on a social platform lead to the reveal of a new shining star.
(Literal targeted video recommendation.)
Scenario: During what felt like just another average day in Inkadia, the idols of Inkopolis and Splatsville were startled when upon checking the home page of their Splatter! accounts to see some sort of new event happening in Inkopolis Square.
An event that none of them have heard about up to this point.
Naturally, confused, dazed, determined, curious, they head towards all the buzz and find out themselves in a very crowed square, before they are made aware that this wasn't some fancy new weapon or gadget being revealed...
It was(were) a(a̶) new shining star(s).

-- MESSAGE FROM Tank Fox --
Surprise! Something different other than Sonic!
As a guy who has played Splatoon 3 only like 3-5 times, I feel like I did... A job.
Milo wasn't really specific on the details.
Soooo... Please, don't crucify me.

Name: Callie
Gender: Female
Species: Inkling
Age: 28
Height: 5'2
Hair: Black, magenta
Eyes: Golden
Skin: Peach
Appearance: She has a peach skin tone and black tentacles, two of which usually tied up in a large bow on the back of her head; they are very long, coming down to calf-length, and have a pink gradient and spots on their tips. Additionally, she has a left-parted bang and a smaller one on the right, usually hidden under her hairpiece. She has large golden eyes with darker pupils shaped like four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a beauty mark under her left eye, mirroring the one on Marie's right cheek. Unlike the usual Inkling eye mask, Callie's eye markings are more angular, with two small eyelash-like points on each; her ears are slightly narrower, longer, and more upturned than those of the average Inkling. She wears contacts. Callie wears a black strapless romper that ends in puffy shorts and a heart-shaped neckline; the corset is form-fitting and closes with pink laces in the back. The romper is made of a reflective material covered in color-shifting hexagonal sequins. On the front are three horizontal openings showing a layer of magenta fabric underneath; they resemble the cuts made in ikayaki, or grilled squid, a popular Japanese festival food. With this outfit, she wears magenta tights, white gloves, white chunky iridescent hoop earrings, and a detached white shirt collar. On her feet, Callie wears a pair of ankle-high black boots with pink wedge heels and two pink buttons on either side of the ankle.
Personality: Callie is very cheerful and excitable, and usually sports a grin on her face. She values her bond with her cousin Marie, with the two having been inseparable since they were young. As children, they enjoyed stargazing and playing tag together. She is particularly attentive to Marie's changes in mood, even noting when the latter wants to drink a latte based on expression alone. When by herself, however, Callie can become upset and prone to overthinking. She is rather fond of puns and uses them from time to time, a habit that tends to annoy her cousin. She is also optimistic and caring; in the Japanese version of Splatoon, she thanks her Splatfest team for doing their best regardless of whether she won or not. Unlike Marie's sarcastic quips, Callie always seems to have something happy and innocent to say. She looks at the bright side of things while providing stage commentary. Callie gravitates towards exciting outdoor activities, such as driving, running around, and going camping. She also loves art. Some of her Splatfest choices are energetic and uplifting, for example, her choices of a perfect body over mind, getting fit instead of rich, and love over money, with the latter two being ironic, as she is described by Marie as having "more money than she can count." She also loves to eat and often talks about food, much to the chagrin and occasional disgust of Marie. Her favorite food is fries, although, like her grandfather, she also enjoys crabby cakes. Easily distracted by cute, pretty, or striking things, many of her stage comments are about something completely irrelevant to the battle. It is mentioned numerous times in Inkopolis. Although mainly cheerful, Callie can occasionally get tired of Marie's sassiness. Her favorite weapon class is Rollers.
Name: Marie
Gender: Female
Species: Inkling
Age: 28
Height: 5'3
Hair: Light gray, lime green
Eyes: Golden
Skin: Peach
Appearance: An Inkling with light peach skin tone and light gray tentacles, two of which are longer and usually tied in a large bow on the right side of her head; they wrap around to the other side and curl up slightly at the tips, which have a green gradient and are decorated with spots. Additionally, she has a right-parted bang and a smaller one on the left, usually hidden under her hairpiece. She has large golden eyes with darker pupils shaped like four-pointed stars, large oval eyebrows, and a beauty mark under her right eye, mirroring the one on Callie's left cheek. Unlike the usual Inkling eye mask, Marie's eye markings are more droopy, with two small eyelash-like points each; her ears are slightly narrower, longer, and more downturned than those of the average Inkling. Marie wears a black strapless romper that includes a skirt and a heart-shaped neckline; the corset is form-fitting and closes with green laces in the back. The romper is made of a reflective material covered in color-shifting hexagonal sequins. On the front are three horizontal openings showing a layer of green fabric underneath; they resemble the cuts made in ikayaki, or grilled squid, a popular Japanese festival food.
Personality: Marie is seemingly quieter than, and not as excitable as, her cousin, and usually only gives a half-smile, if at all. She can be sarcastic from time to time, and is slightly prone to complaining, but is usually in a mild mood. Overall, her disposition is laid-back and friendly, although she gets easily annoyed and can be grumpy sometimes. She is also an expert at doing impressions. She dislikes overly thrilling activities and can even be somewhat lazy. She also show signs of being a picky eater as she refuses to eat the ends of loaves of bread and does not seem to be a fan of vegetables. She also dislikes getting dirty. Marie also seems to be cross-dominant; she has been shown writing with her right hand but holding chopsticks with her left. She has shown a demonstrably cheekier side. When anticipating an announcement, she often repeats herself in excitement. Despite her constant teasing of Callie, it is shown in the Squid Sisters Stories that Marie constantly stresses about Callie's well-being and worries about overshadowing her, even leading to self-loathing. Marie hates Callie's puns, at one point calling them "punbearable", although while at a live concert, Callie states that Marie has her own "signature puns". This implies that Marie truly cares about what Callie likes, although she is prone to cheeky insults. Marie may be acting cheeky to help raise her popularity. Her preferred weapon class is the Charger.
Name: Pearl Houzuki
Gender: Female
Species: Inkling
Age: 30
Height: 4'9
Hair: Cream, pink
Eyes: Light gold
Skin: Pale
Appearance: A short Inkling with pale skin and appears shorter than most Inklings, something she is defensive about. Her shoulder-length tentacles are creamy-white with pink tips and a small bang, although they can change to completely one color like other Inklings. She has light golden eyes with pale yellow pupils in the shape of a cross, round cream eyebrows, and a beauty mark at the bottom right of her lips. Like Marina, and unlike other Inklings, she has one sharp tooth in the top middle of her mouth instead of the usual two. Her ears, which are slightly smaller than those of the average Inkling, are usually covered by her hair. Her outfit consists of a pearly white sleeveless dress, white shorts, and pink tights. The dress has a high collar, a large golden zipper on the front with a cut-out cross similar to her pupils, and features a slanted diamond-like pattern at the bottom right. Her shoes are white, slightly platformed boots with large golden zippers and black soles. She also wears black fingerless gloves and a white crown with pink tips on her head that resembles a squid ring tooth. During Splatfests, the pink in her design changes to match the color of her chosen team, except for her crown. The diamond-like pattern on her dress lights up in sync with the music.
Personality: Pearl speaks rather bluntly and uses various slang terms, in line with her characterization as a rapper. Compared to Marina, Pearl is a lot more energetic, expressive and quick to jump onto a topic with a bit of a short temper and a knack for composing new songs as they come to her. Often her comments can be playfully sarcastic, playing off Marina. She can also be quite brash, but is usually very friendly and means well in the end. Her lively attitude is most obvious if the player looks at her through the window, as she looks at them quizzically before striking a pose. When she wins a Splatfest, she often boasts how her team was better in the form of a rap, which she insists she makes up on the spot. She has been described sarcastically by Marina as "starved for attention, yet full of herself". She comes from a very rich family, which is reflected in her attitude and appearance. Among her several possessions, she owns a go-kart, a private jet, the baseball "Inkopolis Princess League", and a fitness studio. She also still gets an allowance despite having a job, has personal shoppers for MakoMart, and owns a vegetable garden in front of her house that must be watered using her helicopter with an exclusive jellyfish pilot, as well as having a lemon tree orchard and at least three shoe rooms in her house, one of which is soundproof. Her Splatfest choices show her to gravitate towards mostly outgoing things, such as Action, Adventure, and Film. Indeed, she has difficulties with sitting still, leading her to fidget and walk around during recordings. She's shown to be impatient and dislikes it when things get "too quiet". She also has a quirky side, as she has mentioned that she eats breakfast cereal with a fork and has a pool full of imported mayonnaise. Due to being born with uniquely developed vocal cords, Pearl's voice operates at two thousand times the frequency required to produce "mind-blowing" waves. As a result, it can create massive shockwaves and destroys audio equipment when she sings, leading her fans to nickname her the "club destroyer". While it is unclear if Pearl reciprocates Marina's crush on her, Pearl is nonetheless very protective of Marina. Pearl's favorite weapon class appears to be Dualies.
Name: Marina Ida
Gender: Female
Species: Octoling
Age: 27
Height: 5'9
Hair: Plum brown, teal
Eyes: Salmon Pink
Skin: Dark brown
Appearance: A taller and more curvaceous Octoling. She has dark brown skin, teal eyes with reddish-pink horizontal pupils (which real-life octopuses have) in the shape of an infinity symbol and two eyelashes each, and dark brown tentacles with teal tips that can also change completely to one color; they are kept very long, arriving past her waist. She also has dark teal eyebrows that are constantly downturned in a "worried" expression, a teal gradient on her fingers, and a beauty mark at the left of her lips. Like Pearl, and unlike other Octolings, her sharp teeth are in the center on both the top and bottom, instead of being asymmetrical. She has also stated that she has multiple hearts. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless, high-collared black top that bares her midriff, showing a teal navel piercing. It has a large, mostly undone silver zipper with an infinity symbol-shaped hole resembling the pupils of her eyes. She has black puffy shorts with a diagonal waistline and slanted grooves that light up in sync with the music; under them are teal tights and black boots with big undone silver zippers with 8-shaped holes like the one on her top. She wears large black headphones with teal rings on the sides of them, covering her ears, and black fingerless gloves.
Personality: Marina is more reserved than her bandmate Pearl. She speaks in a sweet, gentle manner, but can get very sassy in response to others teasing her. She is more sentimental and tender-hearted than Pearl, and has been known to break down crying in public when sufficiently touched. Despite her shyness, she does not appear to be concerned about expressing herself. She is forgetful and has been observed to forget the news she and Pearl are broadcasting. Her timidity shows when she sees an Inkling watching her through the window; when she notices them, she smiles awkwardly and waves. This behavior likely comes from the fact that many believe her to be an Inkling even though she learned the Inkling language recently and that she looks very different from the Inklings. Marina has a crush on Pearl, and making a manga about her where she is drawn as a bishōjo, drawing flowers, sparkles, and hearts around Pearl. While this is never explicitly stated in-game, Marina shows her affection towards her by playfully poking fun at Pearl's small stature during newscasts, tackling and nuzzling her in a hug after they win and becoming extremely devastated when Pearl floats around the idea of their band breaking up. Marina has a picture of Pearl as her computer's wallpaper, frequently uses heart emojis when speaking about Pearl in her dev diary, and compares herself to a "storybook princess" at the top of a tower who "brave Pearl" must rescue. She also appears to get jealous toward Acht when she thinks they are flirting with Pearl. Marina is known to be very technologically skilled, with Pearl describing her as being "too smart for her own good". She is portrayed as being obsessed with the machinery. Marina also owns a keytar with Squid Sisters and Off the Hook decals on the neck, which she can be seen playing during live performances. Marina's favorite weapon class appears to be Brellas.
Name: Shiver Hohojiro
Gender: Female
Species: Octoling
Age: 24
Height: 5'0
Hair: Two-tone blue
Eyes: Red
Skin: Pale
Appearance: An Octoling with pale skin and a wide, oval-shaped face, sharp indigo triangle eyebrows and slender red eyes with light red pupils in the shape of an infinity symbol, similar to Marina's pupils and matching real-life octopuses. Her Octoling eye mask is very thin and sharp, almost appearing to be cat-eyeliner makeup, with red eye shadow blended underneath. The tentacle hair is medium-length, with the left side styled over her face, hiding her left eye from view. They have a slight gradient from dull blue to bright blue, and curl slightly upwards at the ends. In addition to the eye makeup, Shiver also appears to wear a light red lip gloss. Shiver has a cool, yet rebellious sense of fashion, with a clear root in traditional Japanese culture. She wears a white sarashi chest wrap under a long indigo shawl made from a shiny translucent material. Attached to the left side of the shawl is a large silver octopus charm with two red tassels tied through holes in it. On her legs are low-cut black leggings decorated with two slashes on her right thigh, resembling shark gills. She wears black tabi-like ankle boots with red wedge heels. Additionally, Shiver's fingertips have a bright red color. Her right ear is pierced with three shark tooth-shaped earrings. On the back of her head, circling a large suction cup on one of her tentacles, is a length of white twisted cloth tied in a knot, not unlike the traditional Japanese hachimaki headband. Hachimaki have a variety of styles, and the one worn by Shiver in particular is a common sight during certain Japanese festivals.
Personality: Shiver presents herself as aloof and cold-blooded, a ruthless fighter who is certain of her victory. However, she is particularly quick to anger due to her competitive nature. Nonetheless, she appears to be the most mature member of Deep Cut, often remaining pragmatic and composed, contrasting Frye and Big Man, who tend to be more wild and reckless than Shiver. This maturity makes her a sort of leader of Deep Cut, in charge of opening and closing every Anarchy Splatcast and announcing important events like Splatfest themes and game updates. She also thinks that she is the leader. During Splatfests, she appears to be a bit selfish, as she often votes for the more greedy teams such as Team Power and Team Money. She also occasionally comes down quite severely on her bandmates and is a deep perfectionist, sending Big Man back to the drawing board with Anarchy Rainbow several times, and often criticizing both Frye and Big Man's battle techniques. Nevertheless, she greatly cares for her bandmates, poking fun at them and sometimes showing admiration for their boldness, even saying outright that she envies Frye's self-confidence. Despite her perfectionism and brash persona, Shiver can be surprisingly humble and understanding when she lets herself relax, as she was willing to put aside her differences and work with the New Squidbeak Splatoon, even being the one to suggest that Marie becomes their boss and happily referring to the Squid Sisters as the band's "bosses". She also seems to enjoy puns. In contrast to her bandmates' impulsiveness, Shiver seems to enjoy predictability and does not like being caught off-guard. She has stated that she listens to Sheldon's rambles and takes his advice, believing herself to be one of the only people who is willing to do so. Shiver's favorite weapon class appears to be Stringers.
Name: Frye Onaga
Gender: Female
Species: Inkling
Age: 24
Height: 4'8
Hair: Yellow, purple
Eyes: Golden, orange
Skin: Medium brown
Appearance: An Inkling with medium brown skin and a round face, with darker brown lips and large eyes under round yellow triangle eyebrows. Her irises are golden, with yellow pupils in the shape of a diamond, similar to that of the Squid Sisters and Pearl. Her Inkling eye mask is fairly large and exaggerated, and ends with points that lift off the sides of her face. On top of her eye mask are thick yellow eyelashes with an orange gradient at the ends. Her top teeth are sharper and more prominent than other Inklings, and sometimes peek out of her closed lips like fangs. Frye's yellow tentacles are thin and wavy, and reach about shoulder length. She styles them in two parts: one lock tied with an off-white cord framing the left side of her face, and the other tucked behind her right ear, baring most of her forehead. Her tentacles end in a light purple gradient. Frye's ears are longer and pointier than those of other Inklings, with a slight orange blush at the tips. Her right ear is pierced with three moray eel tooth-shaped earrings. Additionally, her fingertips are purple. Frye has a fun, yet rebellious sense of fashion, with a possible root in traditional Indian culture. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless yellow turtleneck crop top under a small yellow shawl made from a shiny translucent material. She wears off-white pants that are extremely baggy, pulling inspiration from the traditional costume of certain Indian dances. Three holes on the left side of her pants reveal she wears black leggings underneath. Around her waist is a thin tan rope belt; hanging from it on the left side is a large golden squid charm with two purple tassels tied through holes in the ornament. On the top left of her head is a golden-colored hat resembling chunks of fried squid. Her feet are partially covered by off-white toe-less socks, revealing purple toes.
Personality: Frye is peppy and reckless, often wearing her emotions on her sleeve. She is known for her fearlessness and audacity, often rushing headfirst into dangerous situations without fear or hesitation. This tends to get her into trouble, which Big Man and Shiver have to save her from. Though she can sometimes appear menacing or brag about her abilities, it is all in good fun, and at her core, she is a kind and fun-loving individual. She possesses a deep love for singing and dancing, being trained in both at a young age and becoming very physically fit as a result. She likens the different forms of her eel attacks to dances, and often dances when excited. Because of this, she is also extremely gluttonous, as evidenced by her Splatfest dialogue, where she frequently talks about food and chooses food-related teams. She has stated that she is not picky and will eat anything. Frye can also be slightly airheaded, noted for consistently breaking into dance in the middle of Salmon Runs instead of focusing on the enemy, as well as only focusing on the "big boss" rather than the lessers. She also prefers to use a head-on approach rather than a nuanced strategy, completely ignoring the Grizzco employee handbook and stating that her winning strategy for Turf War is to "splat your enemies...then splat them again! And again!" She can also be quite the prankster, as she has a habit of stealing her bandmates' snacks, and once gave Big Man a chocolate-covered onion on Valentine's Day. She is also shown to be very indecisive regarding Splatfest choices. Frye's favorite weapon class appears to be Splatanas.
Name: Big Man
Gender: Male
Species: Manta Ray
Age: 24
Height: 5'5
Eyes: Black
Skin: Gray, white
Appearance: A large gray manta ray with white dotted markings along his belly and on both sides of his pectoral fins, as well as a perpetual sheen on his body. He has a tail which is white on the front and gray on the back, seeming to extend from the white patch along his torso. He stands upright on his pelvic fins as if they were feet, and his eyes are closer to his mouth along the bottom of his body, giving him an anthropomorphic appearance. Big Man actually has more resemblance to an eagle ray than a manta ray, as his mouth is located on the underside of his body, like the former. In addition, eagle rays have prominent pelvic fins at the back of their bodies, used by Big Man as feet, whereas manta rays' pelvic fins are smaller in comparison.
Personality: Big Man is the most laid-back member of Deep Cut. While Shiver and Frye can get excited when it comes to things they care about, Big Man avoids getting worked up, often mediating the other two and bringing them back down to earth. In this way, he often acts as the voice of reason for Deep Cut, reminding Frye that it is a good idea to paint turf during Turf Wars instead of just splatting enemies, and pointing out that it is ridiculous that Shiver is still so hung up on a past Turf War loss. He is the most easily influenced out of the trio and does not like to resort to violence, although he is not above making his own threats. Big Man also loves fun and having a good time. He often speaks in puns and is the first to suggest all the good attributes of something. His speech is unique, consisting of the sound "Ay!" with a translation in parentheses. This laid-back disposition does not mean he is lazy, however. Big Man is the primary lyricist and producer of Deep Cut and is a noted hard worker, having put Anarchy Rainbow through seven separate iterations over six weeks before finalizing it, with the process exhausting him to the point where he became "dried up like an uncooked lasagna noodle", in part because he refused to let Shiver and Frye provide vocals for it, doing them himself instead. He mainly contributes to Deep Cut by creating the backing tracks Shiver and Frye sing to, described as being EDM based; he occasionally also provides vocals in some songs. He also looks up to and actively tries to learn from other musicians like Front Roe, C-Side, and "a DJ from Inkopolis". Big Man's musical style appears to have some Brazilian and Latin-American inspiration. Sloshers are Big Man's favored weapon class.
Idols: The idols are celebrities within music groups based on Japanese idol culture. They serve as broadcasters and musical performers. They are vocalists and dancers in live concert performances. As broadcasters, the idols host their respective news program, informing about stage and mode rotations, upcoming and ongoing events, and other game updates. They also host Splatfests, with each member representing one of the competing teams. During the Splatfest main event, the idols perform live mid-match.
Squid Sisters: The Squid Sisters are a pop idol duo, consisting of Callie and Marie. Despite their name, they are actually cousins, not sisters. Their catchphrase is "Staaaay fresh!"
Off the Hook: Off the Hook is a pop idol duo, consisting of Pearl and Marina. Their catchphrase is "Don't get cooked... Stay off the hook!"
Deep Cut: A trio band composed of Shiver, Frye and Big Man. Their catchphrase is "Catch ya later!" Between broadcasts, Deep Cut can be seen in their news studio in Splatsville to the left of the lobby tower. In addition to their day job as presenters, they secretly work as bandits to steal treasure, sell it, and split the money among the poor while keeping a portion for themselves.
Splatfest: A Splatfest is a festival-themed event that periodically occurs for a limited time. Each Splatfest event revolves around a unique theme, with separate teams representing different responses to a themed question; participating players join a team and compete in a special version of Turf War called Splatfest Battle to raise their teams' scores. Shortly after the event's conclusion the winning team is announced and Super Sea Snails are awarded to all participants, with players on the winning team receiving more.

Recently a strange social media post was posted to "Splatter!" A social media platform widely used by the entirety of Greater Inkopolis. The post in question was extremely cryptic in nature having the background of the Inkpolis Square during it's busy hour and in the foreground was a message written in both Squid and Octarian languages.
"11:35, 31.09.2026, Inkpolis Square."
Was all the message said a time, a date, and a place? What for? No Inkling or Octoling knew, but whenever it was a campaign, a Splatfest, or heck, a new weapon type being revealed...
It had worked.
The post gained thousands of hearts and even more than several thousand comments from curious Splatter! Users were wandering and theorizing about what the post was hinting at and who was behind it. With most people coming to the conclusion that it must be one of the three idol groups, it only made sense, right?
Well, that couldn't have been any further from the truth.
-MEANWHILE IN INKPOLIS SQUARE-
The Squid Sisters, the two iconic sisters not-actual-sisters just so happened to be strolling through the Inkpolis Square, noticing the unusually large crowd forming inside the square, Callie points it out.
Callie: "Hmm... Hey, Marie?"
Marie: "Yeah?"
Callie: "Have you noticed the squidsh-ly large crowd out today?"
Marie: "No... Not really, I thought it was just a normal Monday-"
She paused mid-sentence as her mind registered her cousin's pun, squeezing the bridge of her nose and sighing.
Marie: "Seriously, Callie?"
Callie: "Oh come on, that one was a real-"
Marie: "I'm going to stop you right there before another bad pun reaches my ears."
Callie: "Aw, alright... But we should still check what's going on."
Both of the Squid Sisters turned to look at each other and nod in agreement before going deeper into the heart of Inkopolis.
-MEANWHILE IN PEARL'S HOME-
Pearl: "WHAAAAT?!"
Pearl's voice echoes through her house, shattering windows and sending Marina tumbling off the couch she was resting on and landing face-first on the floor. Marina has been crashing at Peral's house for a bit after some travel trouble, and she has been drawing pictures of her and Peral together when the Inkling suddenly yelled. As the Octoling recovers, Pearl bursts into the room with a pouty look on her face.
Marina: "Pearly—I mean Pearl? What's going on?"
A faint crimson blush spreads on Marina's cheeks as she accidentally lets the affectionate nickname slip out, although Pearl didn't seem to even notice as she stomped towards the Octoling and grabbed her by the shoulders.
Pearl: "Can you BELIEVE the absolute NERVE, Marina?!"
Marina: "What are you talking about?"
The Inkling begins to lightly shake Marina's shoulders.
Pearl: "They didn't invite Off The Hook! They didn't invite US to whatever is going on today in Inkopolis Square at 11:35! Can you believe it?! The NERVE of NOT inviting US to an event happening on our turf!-"
Marina then cuts Pearl off abruptly, trying very hard to not get even redder in the face than she already was.
Marina: "Pearl, I'm pretty sure t-that event or whatever is it, isn't invite-only."
The pout immediately disappears, and Pearl ceases her shaking.
Pearl: "Wait, for real?"
She pulls back and lets go of Marina before going back on her phone and scrolling through her Splatter! Feed. Finding that the mysterious post didn't mention anything about needing an invitation to join in.
Pearl: "..."
The club destroyer went slightly before her tone changed from angry to frantic.
Pearl: "WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE! COME ON, MARINA! WE HAVE TO GO NOW!"
Without letting the poor Octoling gather her bearings, Pearl grabbed her arm as they practically rocked out of the house and headed straight for Inkopolis Square.
-MEANWHILE BACK IN INKOPOLIS SQUARE-
After a bit of investigating the Squid Sisters were left with more questions than answers, currently standing on a large balcony where they could get the best view of whatever was going to happen while discussing their findings.
Callie: "So, there was big mysterious post on Splatter."
Marie: "Yup."
Callie: "All it contained was a date, time and lead to Inkopolis Square."
Marie: "Yup."
Callie: "And NOBODY knows what this whole thing is even about? It all seems so suspicious! What if this is some sort of trap?!"
Marie: "Set by who? DJ Octavio and his army? You're giving him too much credit. He's not that smart."
Callie: "Yeah, maybe I'm just overthinking it-"
Suddenly someone bumped into Callie.
Callie: "Hey! Watch it-"
The two turn to see Pearl and a disheveled-looking Marina standing hand-in-hand and looking just as surprised to see the Squid Sisters as Callie and Marie were to see Off The Hook on the balcony.
Marie: "Well... I guess we shouldn't be too surprised to see you here. I assume you two also came to see this "event" announced on Splatter?"
Pearl: "Of course! This is Off The Hook turf!"
The pop princess exclaimed proudly as she let go of Marina's hand to gesture to the arrangements going on below them, which included a stage, banners with unknown symbols, among other things.
Callie: "Right... The both of you wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"
Marina, finally free from Pearl's grip, manages to get her bearings, fixing her hair before turning to the Squid Sisters.
Marina: "Other than that, it is going to happen here in about 5ish minutes? No."
Callie: "Yeah, I should have probably guessed so-"
??????: "Well, well, well. What do we have here?"
The conversation is yet again interrupted, however, this time by a very recognizable female voice, standing and posing as dramatically as ever were the three members of Deep Cut: Shiver, Freya, and Big Man.
Callie: "How long have you three been standing there?"
Frye: "Since the "This is Off The Hook turf!" part."
Shiver crossed her arms above her chest before giving a toothy, smug smirk.
Shiver: "We heard that all of ya are as clueless as a shark's unknowing prey in the open sea!"
Big Man: "Ay! (But do not fret!) Ay! (Deep Cut is currently swimming in the same open sea!) Ay! (We are just as confused as you all are.)"
The Deep Cut members approached closer, taking up the other side of the glass railing next to the Squid Sisters, Shiver leaning against it and Frye standing close by with her arms loosely at her sides while Big Man stood behind them, as always.
Frye: "Sooooo, got any theories about this whole shebang going on?"
Pearl: "A fancy stage? Shining light rigs while the sun hangs above? Strange woolly banners? Bah! This could be anything! From a boring ad to a cool new weapon being announced!"
Marie: "Whatever it is, it's clearly very big to gather such a large, lively audience."
Marina: "Yeah. But I'm still trying to understand why none of us were informed about this. What's with all the secrecy and mysterious edge? Is there something we're not getting?-"
Shiver: "Shush, motormouths! It's starting!"
The rebellious Octoling hushed the others as she noticed that the stage lights were beginning to dim, signaling that the show was about to begin. The crowds of Inklings, Octolings, and the like below quiet down as it happens.
And so the three idol groups await for the whatever or whoever steps up onto the stage, some patient, some suspicious, some intrigued, but the common denominator?
They were all curious.
