- #1Día de Muertos Tradition
Keys: ofrenda, November 2, Día de Muertos, November 1, Day of the Dead, cemetery procession
The main celebration starts in the Main Plaza and ends in the San Rafael Cemetery. It's a vibrant mix of music, candles, flowers, and food. Children play among the graves. Here, the dead don't frighten; they accompany. It's common for family members to hear advice, feel a hand on their shoulder, or have vivid dreams. No one is surprised. This is the day the town feels most alive.
- #2Saint Lucia's Day (Día de Santa Lucía)
Keys: blindfold, Saint Lucia's Day, kermés, December 13, dawn mass
Dawn mass is solemn, with many attending blindfolded or carrying vows. Afterwards, the mood flips into a surprisingly joyful street fair (kermés) in the plaza with food, markets, and live music. It's believed that on this day, uncomfortable truths are revealed, people "see" what they refused to, and dreams can turn prophetic. Mothers bring children "to have their sight cared for," while others pray for emotional blindness.
