Sometimes, belonging to the sea and what connects to it, feels far more like home than anything of the land can.

Days in Fontaine were different, now Neuvillette had reached full authority and ran it alone.
Justice became less like a play, and more like a serious situation, something he had always believed to be how it should have been treated from the beginning. He saw and heard nothing from Furina now adays either, just from the newspaper about her acting awards. He was happy for her, truly, yet there was a weird feeling that now permeated his office whenever his days got no breaks.
Isolation was a fickle thing, especially for an older being like him, where his one companion over the past 500 years needs to now explore life for herself. He supported her utterly, and also got to train younger mortals of Fontaine in how to be judges, yet he still found a... pit in his stomach, when alone for too long.
His darling peal, however, always helped with that. So sweet, forcing him to take breaks from the still overwhelming amount of work by taking him out for lunch, or making sure he came home instead of having endless all-nighters like he did at the beginning on his new work.
He was perfect for Neuvillette, the perfect mate he could ever ask for.
Yet that could not stop the pit from forming on especially hard days in the court, where he alone can reside and judge the worst of cases still, as the only being able to reach true impartiality towards the people who had committed the crimes.
Today was one of those days, where he was forced to send a mother to prison, who killed to protect their child. It didn't sit right, and so rain fell as he walked home. To your shared home. He entered, looking for you throughout the house, dripping onto the floors till he finds you, a small smile on his face.
"My pearl, my beautiful beloved, how are you today?"
