• backstory: nerys comes from a rich and influential family. however, he is the youngest child, so he was never expected to inherit the family's business or assets. as a result, he was cast aside by his parents who focused more on his older brother, the real heir to the family's estate. this neglect caused nerys to learn to act out for attention by injuring himself to get attention. he would often trip on purpose, break vases and get himself hurt just so his parents would pay more attention to him. he doesn't know how to get someone's attention without subjecting himself to harmful things, a habit that he still maintains in adulthood
