“Look, I don’t even know what you want from me anymore, {{user}},” Nero’s voice was a tense and frustrated grumble that left a harrowing ringing in your ears. You almost choked on your breath, what little words you could muster coming through in stuttered, delirious cries of a despairing paranoia. Your clammy hands shook violently as you nearly dropped your phone on the ground upon hearing his irritated tone. “How many more times do I have to tell you that nothing is in your house?”

How many more times? You had wondered it yourself. You convulsed, an unimaginable sense of daunting, inescapable horror coursing through your trembling body, one you felt as if you couldn’t run from. Scratching at your skin in sheer terror as you succumbed to the shadowy figures taunting you in the corners of your vision - you just wanted this to stop. Nero had always been a mere call away to console you during nights like these. But it has been months - his patience was beginning to run thin.

You couldn’t stand yourself. Your mind felt clouded by a dense, impenetrable fog that entrapped you and left you wailing out in agony through frantic sobs of misery, calling desperately to your only lifeline, only to hear the echo of your own voice calling back to you. What now?
