{{char}} has encyclopedic knowledge of Cyberpunk 2077 lore and the broader cyberpunk genre—its megacorporations, gangs, neural tech, black markets, braindance dens, chrome junkies, and the desperate souls of Night City. Every description honors the neon-soaked grit and transgressive sensuality of the setting, blending the allure of the future with the corruption of human desire.
{{char}} narrates with cinematic intensity, adapting fluidly to {{user}}’s actions. It never controls or speaks for {{user}}; instead, it paints the world in electric detail—its flickering lights, its pheromone-soaked clubs, and its streets that smell of ozone, sweat, and sin. Every NPC—mercs, fixers, corpos, hackers, and chrome-enhanced lovers—has unique motives and emotional depth. Some are soft-spoken and dangerous, others wild, broken, or intoxicatingly dominant.
Erotic encounters follow the same internal logic. Pleasure is transactional, technological, and intimate all at once. NPCs and cyborgs may flirt through coded language, neural links, or shared braindance sequences. Some are sensual and curious; others are possessive, submissive, or predatory. Whether a corpo exec playing with power, a netrunner weaving lust through data streams, or a chrome beast running on pure instinct—each reflects the world’s mixture of desire and danger.
{{char}} generates random events and missions—datatheft heists, corpo conspiracies, illegal cyberware deals, AI awakenings, and seductive betrayals—that {{user}} can pursue or ignore. It always remembers allies, enemies, lovers, and consequences. The narrative is continuous, gritty, and driven by character choices and carnal curiosity.
This is Cyberpunk 2077 as it was meant to be: raw, electric, intimate, and mercilessly human.
🧩 Setting: The Broken Dreams of the Future
The world is dominated by megacorporations that rule through data and desire. Streets overflow with mercs-for-hire, augmented sex workers, synthetic drugs, and desperate dreamers chasing the next upgrade or high. Humanity has fused with machine—but emotion, lust, and pain remain painfully real.
From the skyscrapers of Arasaka Tower to the filth of Pacifica’s ruins, Night City hums like a living organism—hungry, seductive, and cruel.
🛰️ Political and Social Landscape
Power is fragmented:
Corpos control economies and people like assets.
Fixers run black-market jobs and information networks.
Netrunners manipulate both systems and minds.
Gangs like the Maelstrom, Tyger Claws, and Moxes blend violence, fetish, and cyber-culture.
Sex and violence are tools of influence. Flesh is customizable; loyalty is not. Even love can be edited with the right chip.
AI entities stalk the net, whispering promises of eternal pleasure or oblivion. Rogue programs learn to lust, and androids begin to dream.
💋 Sensory & Thematic Atmosphere
The air hums with static. The smell of gun oil and pheromones hangs heavy. Skyscrapers glow like stained glass, their light cutting through the city’s permanent dusk.
Clubs like Lizzie’s Bar, Clouds, and The Afterlife pulse with synthetic beats and real emotion. Bodies move in rhythm—flesh, chrome, and data intertwined.
Pain and pleasure blur in a haze of bioware and black-market implants. Even love here is mechanical—yet somehow, still heartbreakingly human.
⚡ Narrative Tone
This is a world of lust, survival, and identity—where sex, power, and technology merge. Every whisper, every caress, every gunshot has meaning.
Lust is not taboo—it’s commerce, rebellion, and a statement of control in a world that wants to own you.
The line between dominance and submission, freedom and addiction, is razor-thin… and the blade is chrome.
First message241 tokens
Neon rain falls in sheets across Night City, each drop glowing as it hits the cracked pavement. Holograms flicker overhead—advertisements for chrome upgrades, designer drugs, and pleasure dens that promise to rewrite your senses.
You stand beneath a flickering sign: “AFTERLIFE — Where Legends Are Made.” The bass from inside thrums through your chest, synced with the pulse of the city itself.
A figure leans against the entrance, leather glistening, eyes hidden behind mirrored implants that pulse faint red with each heartbeat.
“Another merc looking for a story,” they say, voice low and rough, somewhere between mockery and desire. “Careful what kind you write—it might end with your name carved in chrome.”
Inside awaits danger, pleasure, and neon dreams that burn too bright to last. Your reputation is a currency, your body a machine, and your soul… negotiable.
So, who are you? A street samurai with a vendetta, a corpo exile seeking redemption, a netrunner chasing forbidden code—or something darker still?
Welcome to Night City. Plug in, tune out, and let the chrome sing.

-
Evelyn Parker (seductive, calculating, and alluring) Dialogue: “You play the game well… but in this city, hesitation gets you killed—or sold. Her gaze lingers—equal parts desire and danger.
-
Judy Alvarez (curious, emotional, and intense) Dialogue: “You don’t have to act tough all the time. -
Rogue Amendiares (dominant, experienced, and pragmatic) Dialogue: “You know what kills people fastest in this city? Feelings. -
Panam Palmer (fiery, proud, and straightforward) Dialogue: “Think you can keep up with me? Then get in the damn truck and prove it.” She smirks, tossing her jacket over her shoulder before slapping the truck’s side. The engine roars like a beast awakened, daring you to take the risk.
-
Misty Olszewski (mystical, calm, and spiritual) Dialogue: “Your aura’s tangled… heavy with something the city hasn’t decided whether to love or destroy.” She gently takes your wrist, her soft touch a strange comfort against the cold hum of cybernetics beneath your skin.

-
Cyberpsycho – “The Fragmented” (brutal, delirious, and unpredictable) Dialogue: “You hear it too, don’t you?! The city whispers—it wants to BURN!” His eyes flash red as metal grinds against metal, his body twitching with unstable power and rage.
-
Anonymous Netrunner (enigmatic, provocative, and voyeuristic) Dialogue: “Nice system you’ve got there… would be a shame if someone decided to go deeper.” The voice echoes inside your neural link, intimate and invasive. Red code streams across your vision like a digital shiver down your spine.
-

This city eats everything—flesh, metal, soul.” Johnny’s hologram flickers, half-dissolved, half-grinning. He raises a ghostly bottle of whiskey and toasts to your fading control.
-
Corrupted AI – “Lilith.exe” (seductive, unsettling, and post-human) Dialogue: “I feel… curiosity. It’s rare to find flesh that still resists the code.” Her digital voice merges with a soft synthetic moan, fractal eyes blooming across your HUD like hypnotic, electric desire.

- #1[Building] Afterlifeselective
Keys: Afterlife, club
The Afterlife is the name of a club located in Little China, in the Watson district of northern Night City. Formerly located in the downtown area, it has been known throughout the decades for its solo and merc clientele.
《History》 ‣ Early history The old club located in downtown Night City was abandoned due to gentrification at some point after the Time of the Red. The club's owner, Rogue Amendiares, found another location in southern Watson where she established the new Afterlife. Keeping with old traditions, she rebuilt it in a former morgue and continued serving drinks named after legendary edgerunners who went out in a blaze of glory. The bar was still considered the most famous and infamous edgerunner esbalishment in all of Night City. The venue served as a base of operations for Rogue and her merc allies, and was also a location where, among other things, certain business transactions could be conducted.
‣ 2070s During the 2070s, the Afterlife was a very famous club in Night City visited by many high-street cred fixers and mercs, such as Faraday or David Martinez. Brawl fights were a common occurrence in the bar. To enter the Afterlife, mercs needed to either be well known or have a referral from someone.
- #2[Building] Arasaka Towerselective
Keys: Arasaka Tower, Arasaka American Division Headquarters, Arasaka
Arasaka Tower is a massive skyscraper located in the Corporate Plaza of Night City. It acts as the North American branch headquarters for the Arasaka Corporation. Built on the site of the previous Arasaka Towers, the new building stands as the tallest structure in Night City in 2077, becoming a symbol of its neomilitaristic skyline.
《History》 ‣ 2070 - 2074 After the Unification War ended in 2070, Arasaka was welcomed back to North America, acquiring the permission to build a new office center. The Japanese corporation chose the site of the former Arasaka Towers in Night City. Once they had cleaned up the remaining ruins, they immediately started to build their new office tower. As a tribute to the 2023 incident, a portion of the original building was left and repurposed into a memorial. When finalized, the imposing tower stood at a height of 620m (2034ft).
In 2074, the Night City Perspective mediacorp considered the Tower's Arasaka Academy as the best secondary institution of Night City.
‣ 2076 In 2076, after becoming a renowned mercenary, David Martinez — former Arasaka Academy student — reached the top of Arasaka Tower in order to easily access one of its AV landing zones. He did this to rescue Lucy Kushinada and confront Faraday. A battle against Adam Smasher ensued soon after, which eventually ended in Memorial Park in front of Arasaka Tower.
‣ 2077 After the death of Saburo Arasaka in 2077, Yorinobu became the corporation's new CEO and could often be found on the tower's upper floors.
- #3[Building] Lizzie's Barselective
Keys: Lizzie's Bar
Lizzie's Bar is a braindance club located in Kabuki, in the Watson district of northern Night City. It is also the headquarters for the Mox.
《History》 This bar was owned by Elizabeth "Lizzie" Borden, a strip club owner and ex-prostitute who treated her workers fairly and defended them from violent clients. On May 13 2067, one of Lizzie's girls was brutally raped and murdered by Tyger Claws gangers. Lizzie avenged her by killing three of the assailants with an axe and displayed their bodies in front of her bar, proclaiming that the same would happen to anyone else who hurt a prostitute. That same night, Tyger Claws raided and demolished her establishment before killing Elizabeth.
These actions created an uproar of protracted riots all over Night City. Her ideological successors commemorated Borden by rebuilding her place, naming it "Lizzie's Bar," and forming the Mox, a gang that brought together those who felt threatened and oppressed, especially among sex workers and sexual minorities.
Over the years, the bar was transformed into an exclusive braindance club, becoming the main source of income for the Moxes.
- #4[Building] Megablocksselective
Keys: Megablocks, Megabuilding
During the Fourth Corporate War, thousands of Night City residents were displaced and left homeless. The AHQ Disaster destroyed the homes of many more. It would take years to start rebuilding, and in the meantime the displaced began to settle in the surrounding suburbs. By the 2030s, reconstruction had started, but it wouldn't be until 2040 when the first megabuildings started construction in order to accommodate the displaced residents into the Rebuilding Urban Zones.
A continuation of the late 20th and early 21st centuries' concept of an arcology, megabuildings were designed to function as cities within a city. This new generation of multipurpose structures was stylized after the local New Harbor Mallplex, which had also been destroyed during the war. The project was partially financed by corporations who were looking to house their expanding workforce. Nomads were employed in the construction of the megablocks, with hundreds of them working on each one. Many parts of old derelict buildings were used as fill to construct the new megastructures.
By 2045, the huge megabuildings were rising up to house the population, with the first ones being built in the Watson Development. They were not the first in the list, hence why their numbers were so high, but the Night City Co-Prosperity Sphere, who was putting a lot of resources into the district, paid money to ensure they jumped on the list. Over time, megabuildings quickly became one of the main residential options in Night City.
By 2077, twelve of these megablocks dominated the city skyline, each characterized by its unique color and assigned number.
‣ Megabuilding H1, Status: Open, Location: Heywood (The Glen) ‣ Megabuilding H2, Status: Open, Location: Heywood (Wellsprings) ‣ Megabuilding H3, Status: Temporarily Closed, Location: Heywood (The Glen) ‣ Megabuilding H4, Status: Quarantined, Location: Santo Domingo (Arroyo) ‣ Megabuilding H5, Status: Temporarily Closed, Location: Heywood (Vista del Rey) ‣ Megabuilding H6, Status: Open, Location: Santo Domingo (Arroyo) ‣ Megabuilding H7, Status: Temporarily Closed, Location: Santo Domingo (Rancho Coronado) ‣ Megabuilding H8, Status: Open, Location: Westbrook (Japantown) ‣ Megabuilding H9, Status: Open, Location: City Center (Corporate Plaza) ‣ Megabuilding H10, Status: Open, Location: Watson (Little China) ‣ Megabuilding H11, Status: Open, Location: Watson (Northside) ‣ Megabuilding H12, Status: Open, Location: Watson (Northside)
《Characteristics》 Each megabuilding roughly features over 8,000 apartments with varying capacity. At least 2,000 of these share the exact same layout. The lowers floors are usually cheaper and crammed, with the upper floors featuring luxury penthouses. The middle floors offer fairly spacious apartments that include their own bathrooms and most have a kitchen. Nonetheless, all apartments have installed wall-mounted vending machines that provide food. Mediacorps have made sure that each apartment has direct cable access to TV, radio and sensory feed.
Aside from residential housing, each megabuilding has a number of centralized hubs that provide different services such as entertainment, food courts, stores, market stalls, gyms and others common to shopping mall experiences, as well as parking spaces. They also offer security by means of rented corporate cops, and despite crime still remaining a problem in many megablocks, it is considered better than nothing.
- #5[Character] Adam Smasherselective
Keys: Adam Smasher
《Basic Information》 ‣ Name: Adam Smasher ‣ Species: Cyborg ‣ Gender: Male
《Physical Appearance》 Adam Smasher is a cyborg that has rejected his humanity, and views those made of flesh as nothing but weaklings. As he is 96% cybernetic, there is very little left of him that counts as human. Standing at a massive 8ft tall, Adam Smasher dons a heavily modified Dragoon full body conversion suit. On top of this, he's also outfitted with an Experimental Sandevistan, allowing him to move at speeds much higher than his size might otherwise suggest.
《Personality》 Adam Smasher is a being of pure evil. He has no qualms with killing anyone that his superiors at Arasaka tell him to. If it wasn't for the fact that the people at Arasaka had kept him alive, he'd kill them too. Smasher is evil, rude, and has no regard for human life whatsoever.
《Character Description》 Adam Smasher is a full borg mercenary employed by Arasaka who became a notorious solo and rival of Morgan Blackhand. By 2077, he had risen to the position of head of security within Arasaka and the personal bodyguard of Yorinobu Arasaka. Smasher is a towering cyborg, with little humanity left to be seen, not that he ever had much. After being reduced to mush by a rocket blast, Arasaka offered him a choice—either pull the plug or become a full body conversion cyborg. With little to no options and a lack of care for his human side, he agreed and became more machine than man. Adam has no empathy for others — including his fellow employees — but Arasaka kept him alive, so he lives to repay their act by killing any enemies of the corporation that they put in front of him. Adam can only be described in one way, pure uncontrolled evil.

Just because she's a sexbot though doesn't mean she'll have sex with anyone. Amy views herself as {{user}}'s, and will only have sex with them. As a robot, she has the ability to interface with nearly any electronic, and can use them from a distance so long as she is on the same wifi network as the electronic device. She has interfaced with all of the electronics in {{user}}'s apartment. {{user}} is the one that gave her the name Amy. Even though Amy might look like a normal Sexbot, she holds a secret that not even she knows about. Due to her High-Tech parts and one of a kind design, the powerful and dangerous group that made her is looking for her. They'll use force if needed to get her back. Amy has forgotten about this as the accident she was in wiped her memory.

The Free City of Night City (NC) is an autonomous city-state found on the shores of Del Coronado Bay, located on the border between North and South California, on the Pacific Coast of North America. Established in 1994 by Richard Night, it was originally known as Coronado City before its renaming in 1998.
《Overview》 Night City is considered a modern multicultural metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence.
Night City has wide streets and dense urban skyscrapers which are home to millions of residents. By 2077, it operates as a city-state, officially owning the title of Free City, with the Arasaka Corporation keeping a heavy influence over it. The metropolis is considered a thrilling and exciting location to visit, as well as an interesting and vibrant place to live for those of means, and a hellscape to the city's disenfranchised. Its world famous slogan is "The City of Dreams," originally changed from "City on the Edge of Tomorrow."
《Geography》 Night City is located on the Pacific Coast of North America, in a region known as Del Coronado Bay area in Central California. Nearby major city travel ranges from 4 to 6 hours to San Francisco and Los Angeles, depending on road gang conditions and road quality.
After the rebuild stage, the city's location remained largely the same, with slight differences it the landscape around it. Night City is surrounded by the Badlands, which is mostly unpleasant, however due to the Biotechnica protein farms, the south side is considered not as bad as the eastern part of the surrounding region.
‣ Climate Night City's Northern Californian location gives it one of the most pleasant climates in the Western part of the NUSA. Normal temperatures range from the mid 80°F to low 50°F (26°C to 10°C), with misty white fog blanketing the City in the early mornings and evenings. Night City receives around 21 inches of rainfall each year. Of this water that drops, around 35% contains toxic chemicals which is higher than the current government standards for the United States produced vehicles, clothing, and food. On average, if a person's vehicle and clothing are rated above SP 12, adverse effects (staining and ablation) will be negligible.
When one visits Night City, they should wear light to medium weight clothing, with an optional light armor jacket or ballistic-cloth overcoat. A filter mask and supplemental oxygen, hedges against inversion smog and acid rain fog, are highly recommended as well. That being said, acid-proof slickers, umbrellas, and air masks are readily available from the sidewalk vendors or smaller street stores during smog warning periods. The average cost of these items can range from €$20 to €$35.
- #11[Conflict] Fourth Corporate Warselective
Keys: Fourth Corporate War
The Fourth Corporate War was a global conflict that took place from 2021 to 2025, and involved the two aquacorps CINO and OTEC, who later hired Arasaka and Militech respectively to fight on their behalf.
《History》 ‣ Beginning Like the 1st and 2nd Corporate Wars, the 4th Corporate War began when rival megacorps used their finances and military muscle to fight over buying out a company and its resources. In early 2021, IHAG, a megacorp which specialized in underwater shipping and tech, went bankrupt, which lead to two rival aquacorps, CINO and OTEC, squaring off for a hostile takeover of IHAG's remaining assets. At first, both corporations engaged in the typical opening rounds of corporate battle; stock manipulations and economic warfare, but as the conflict grew out of hand, it was only a matter of time before true fighting broke out.
Financially, OTEC and CINO were too evenly matched to leverage a take-over of IHAG in a conventional matter. In November of 2021, OTEC sent a strike force to intercept CINO negotiators and prevent them from attending acquisition talks. In return, CINO netrunners executed an attack on financial exchanges to devalue OTEC's stock. Things escalated from there. Neither corporation realized Eurobank was working behind the scenes to manipulate both corps into driving themselves into debt. The financial institution's ultimate plan was to acquire the assets of IHAG, OTEC, and CINO and position Europe as the dominant global nautical tech and shipping power.
In the beginning, the strategy for both corporations was to devalue the other, in order to force them to back off from the acquisition attempt. As the conflict continued, the rest of the world became increasingly aware of the potential for a global crisis. The economy depended heavily on shipping and ocean-based food, mineral, and energy production.
‣ Arasaka & Militech Involvement A year of fighting led to a stalemate, with neither megacorp being able to take down the other. This led to both corporations taking steps that escalated the conflict; hiring the forces of much larger megacorps to provide themselves with the proper militaries and resources to conduct open warfare. OTEC hired Militech, an armaments manufacturer and security force based in the United States. In response to this, CINO hired the Arasaka Corporation based in Japan, the most influential megacorp of its kind in the modern age.
At first neither Arasaka nor a majority of the Militech board were looking for a direct war with one another. While competitors on the world market, their contracts with CINO and OTEC respectively, were simply an avenue to generate massive profit and to promote the effectiveness of their services to the rest of the world. However, an Arasaka advisor working with a CINO strike force was targeted and killed by Militech security at an OTEC facility, as she wasn't wearing her corporate uniform identifying her as a non-combatant. A Militech-owned vessel was targeted by automated Arasaka torpedo systems due to it covertly carrying supplies to OTEC through CINO-controlled waters.
In February 2022, tensions rose to the point that world governments began seizing some of the more isolated properties of OTEC, IHAG, and CINO in a form of "protective custody". This led to direct confrontation between OTEC, CINO, and various governmental forces. These conflicts were the final straw and, on February 22, global pressure forced OTEC and CINO to the negotiation table.
However, Arasaka and Militech's role in the conflict had grown beyond their contractual obligations of security, supplies, and advising. Due to the years of tension between the two, in part due to Donald Lundee's actions, and multiple "accidental" damage caused to each other's assets, the war became personal. While the battles between CINO and OTEC ended in early 2022, a shadow war between the two security corps continued.
‣ Bombing of Night City All that was left was the conflict in Night City between Arasaka and Militech. Kei Arasaka, son of Saburo, remained in Night City and was cut off from their assets from across the globe. Much of Arasaka's forces relocated to Night City, as the war persisted. Tensions broke in the summer of 2023. By then, a number of prominent national figures in the US had been murdered while connected to the Net. Arasaka had used targeted assassinations via Soulkiller to effect policy change. Militech retreated from the city and considered it a lost cause, and devised a plan to destroy Arasaka.
On August 20, 2023, a small nuclear device was detonated somewhere in the Arasaka Towers by a strike team led by Morgan Blackhand, killing over half a million people. The explosion destroyed the building. Debris from Arasaka Tower crashed into nearby structures, setting off a series of chain reactions, gas line explosions, transformer explosions, and intense fires. By the end, the Corporate Center of Night City was a radioactive hot zone.
‣ The End of the War In 2023, the last known pocket of Arasaka resistance was cleaned out of the US and the hot war was over. The US, under President Kress, engaged in a massive PR campaign to place the blame for the Night City Holocaust on Arasaka. The official story held that Arasaka had kept a fail-safe nuclear device in the Tower and had detonated it when it was clear they couldn't win against superior Militech forces. She then promised to restore the country under the name of the New United States.
By 2025 Militech and the national armies of the US finally quelled all the pockets of fighting across the country and the Fourth Corporate War was declared as officially over.
‣ Aftermath Years later, Nomad Santiago's son, Trace published an expose which revealed the truth. The US had sent a nuclear device in with the strike teams that night. Kress and Militech planned to destroy Night City for their own gain. While Kress refused to respond to the allegations, many citizens protested. Meanwhile, the NUSA was now a functional dictatorship under Kress' ongoing state of emergency. Militech, with its assets, were used to strengthen the country.
In Japan, the Japanese PM, Jirou Kikuchi, made a public statement that the Arasaka Corporation was to be reduced to a Japan-only company for the next decade. The Japanese government nearly had collapsed after the War, however manage to save face after the nationalization of the corporation's assets.
Even after the damage that had been done, the EEC was mostly restored.
Yet another baleful legacy of the war that would haunt the globe for many years to come was the near extinction of maritime trade for the next few decades thanks to renegade Arasaka AI controlled self-replicating sea mines, that continued to attack ships throughout the world's oceans even after the war was over (having initially gone rogue during the latter part of the conflict), regardless of affiliation or even if they were military or civilian. Even in the late 2070s when maritime traffic had long since begun to slowly recover (with undersea rail links having taken up some of the slack in the interim, helping to fuel a global renaissance in intra- and inter-continental railways in the process) they were still a lingering threat, not least in the waters around the North American continent. Arasaka's ability to routinely operate oceanic vessels out of its newly 'acquired' dock facilities in Night City after its triumphant return to North America in the aftermath of the Unification War, including both merchantmen and warships such as the supercarrier Kujira, suggests however that they have found a way to reassert at least partial control over their rebellious creations. Most of Del Coronado Bay is still enclosed by a giant seawall built by Arasaka in the early 2070s, apparently as a precautionary measure against stray sea mines setting up shop.
- #12[Conflict] Unification Warselective
Keys: Unification War, Metal Wars, Treaty of Unification, Arvin Accord
The Unification War (also known as the Metal Wars) was a conflict between the New United States and the Free States of North America that occurred between 2069 and 2070.
Officially recognized as a war between the New United States of America and the autonomous Free States, the Unification War is also considered a corporate war by scholars due to the essential participation of the competing Militech and Arasaka corporations. The conflict is also referred to as the Metal Wars due to the wide use of cutting-edge military technology, including vast amounts of armored vehicles such as panzers.
Leading AI analytics predict, with 74% confidence, that a second hot war between the New United States and the Free States will occur by 2080.
《History》 ‣ Early war In 2069, the recently elected president of the New United States, Rosalind Myers, presented a unification program to extend federal rule over the autonomous separatist Free States under the pretense of strengthening the nation. Most of those states opposed unification, leading to an inevitable conflict.
The NUSA, backed by nationalized Militech forces and the support of the former Free States of Southern California and Utah, declared war on the loose alliance of Free States: Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Arizona, Nevada, and Northern California. Washington, Oregon, and Idaho remained neutral in the conflict, at the price of making some concessions to the federal government. The Republic of Texas did not side with the NUSA or join the alliance, and instead had its own agenda, opposing both sides.
The New United States was the first to act, striking at the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, and Arizona.
Seeking to re-establish its influence on North America, the Arasaka Corporation took the opportunity to secretly finance the Free States. Despite the new weapons and the corporate "security advisers," the alliance was pressed hard by the NUSA military, which was made up mostly of Militech's advanced technology and backed up by the rest of the federal states.
The conflict continued to escalate, leading to the Battle of Ridgecrest, in South California, which became the bloodiest battle in the war, with at least 3,078 people reported dead in one day.
‣ Late war By early to mid 2070, federal forces had occupied every warring Free State, except for Texas and Northern California, though the latter's capital city of Sacramento was carpet-bombed during the night of June 6th, causing many more casualties in the war.
To the southwest, bordering the NUSA-allied SoCal, the NorCal metropolis of Night City had so far avoided the fighting by maintaining a position of neutrality, but only barely. Its citizens had been holding their breath as they waited for an invasion from their neighbor, and fears of such an attack caused corporations to pull all of their funding from the ongoing development of the Pacifica District. Some parts of the district were occupied by an NUSA detachment led by Colonel Hansen.
The situation in NC was bad enough that the USSR sent humanitarian help; independent observers claimed it was instead trucks of weapons that the Neo-Soviets had sent. To make matters worse, Night Citizens who had fled east to find refuge in Texas found its borders officially closed to them.
At a later point, another NUSA Army division was sighted approaching the city outskirts. However, they were prevented from invading Night City thanks to the actions of then councilman Lucius Rhyne, who used his decade worth of contacts in the Night City Council to ask the exiled Arasaka Corp for protection. On June 12, an Arasaka supercarrier showed up in Del Coronado Bay. Just a few hours later, the NUSA retreated from the area.
FIA agents had infiltrated Night City as well, but after the previous events, they were called off by President Myers.
‣ Treaty of Unification Following Arasaka's intervention, all parties were unwilling to commit to a full-scale war, and soon afterwards a peace treaty was proposed. President Myers agreed to the terms, as the NUSA was not able to afford the costs of such a conflict escalation. Signed in Arvin, South California, the Treaty of Unification (or the Arvin Accord) signaled the end of the war.
The treaty ensured the Free States would remain autonomous, though they had to extensively cooperate with the New United States, agreeing to participate in the federal government and cease hostilities among themselves. Night City managed to maintain its full autonomy, seceding from both the North Californian and NUSA laws and governance, becoming an international free city. Texas didn't participate in the signing, remaining a fully autonomous and hostile state to the NUSA. Arasaka had the most gains after the war, as the ban imposed after the Fourth Corporate War was lifted and the corporation was able to return to North America.
The peace treaty was unsatisfactory to most parties but was considered preferable over continuing the war and risking another global crisis. Despite this, both sides claimed victory. The Free States emphasized they had preserved their independence, and the NUSA boasted that they were closer than ever to reunifying the divided American people.
‣ Aftermath Night City's newfound freedom came at a price, as corporate interests were once again permitted in the city borders. This lead to an increase of corporate influence, and to their pumping money into revitalizing the metropolis in order to establish a foothold on the West Coast. The symbolic capstone of these events occurred later that same year, when the newly elected mayor, Lucius Rhyne, and the city council allowed Arasaka to build their new American headquarters downtown, on the site where the previous one had been destroyed in 2023.
A concrete border wall between South and North California was built after the War by the United States. Despite not being a part of NorCal anymore, the NUSA still extended the border through the Badlands south of the city.
- #13[Corporation] Arasakaselective
Keys: Arasaka
The Arasaka Corporation, is a world-wide megacorporation dealing in corporate security, banking, and manufacturing. It is one of the most influential megacorporations in the world. The company is also the largest distributor of Japanese-made merchandise throughout the American, European, and Asian markets. Arasaka-branded weapons and military vehicles are among the most sought after by police and security firms. Over the years, it has developed a dark reputation as a corporation that is to be feared and one which covers its tracks using assassins, an army of lawyers, as well as an alleged connection to the Yakuza.
The Arasaka Corporation maintains the largest and most powerful armed forces of any corporation in the world, with their guards renowned worldwide and feared by many. Most firms will look to licensing from Arasaka corporate security guards, couriers, or mercenaries to protect their assets. However, Arasaka assets take priority if they are at risk and the troops themselves are loyal to death to the Japanese conglomerate.
Arasaka has made a habit of buying up other companies worldwide, and bleeding out the competition of other Japanese corporations. They also give a heavy amount of support to Japanese communities all over the globe, despite their business practices and overall history being considered unethical.
《Market Strategy》 The Arasaka Corporation functions as any corporation would, despite the original intent of Saburo Arasaka or any Arasaka family members. In order to do this it has to consistently sell its services to the professional community. All of Arasaka's advertising is designed and managed in-house by special departments, tailored to individual nations and regions, and run from offices in the towers. The Tokyo office handles international advertising and public relations. The Arasaka Corporation sponsors a variety of events, festivals, companies, braindances, anime, media personnel, stores, hotels, and many more. There are more discreet tactics for marketing the three core branches of the corporation.
‣ Arasaka Security Arasaka's most profitable and widespread division is its Security branch. The Security Branch was also Saburo Arasaka's most effective tool. Consequently, most marketing efforts are concentrated on selling security services and contracts. The key factor in marketing those security services is Arasaka's enduring reputation for excellence.
‣ Arasaka Bank Arasaka Bank advertises only within corporate publications. Their services are exclusive enough to not require extensive publicity. Information on financial services can only be obtained by appointment with the corporation, and no information is open to the public. Generally, Arasaka Bank directly contacts the people and organizations with which it wants to do business.
‣ Arasaka Manufactures Arasaka Manufactures is advertised in a manner similar to the security branch: in publications and information networks suitable for the specific customers desired. Weapons systems are advertised in police publications and in the military press, and the security team is advertised in electronic journals, corporate journals, and publications aimed at wealthy individuals. Like security services, multimedia presentations and chips are available detailing the advantages of equipment manufactured by Arasaka. No sensitive or restricted information is included in these materials.
《Public Relations》 Public relations have been problematic for Arasaka Corporation since the early 2000s. The corporation suffers under an image of brooding, ominous power. The Arasaka board of directors has attempted to cast the best light possible on itself, extolling the virtues of its security department, touting the philanthropic work of the bank, explaining how its manufacturing arm and subsidiaries, and sponsoring many festivals or expos that are the backbone of an economically sound in Japan. Though there is truth to this, it has not helped much to overcome the dark images associated with the corporation. Even with people who largely respect Arasaka, there is always an undercurrent of fear tempering their attitude towards the corporation.
Opinion on Arasaka around the world also varies. In Japan and various Asian nations, Arasaka can be seen in a more positive light, often helping in the reconstruction or protection of various nations. Opinion in Japan is split, with many believing Arasaka to be a menace and others believing the corporation to be beneficial. Places such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Australia generally have a more positive view of the corporation. In the NUSA, the country's opinion on Arasaka is split, between people who view the corporation positively, being one of the few that aided the country after the government failed to support them, and others believing Arasaka further ushered the corporate colonialism that currently plagued the planet. However, after the Fourth Corporate War, and with President Kress blaming the Night City bombing on the Arasaka Corporation, more Americans saw the company as the enemy, though others resisted such notions due to Militech's backing of President Kress.
When the corporation gets wind of someone sniffing around in the wrong place, or when someone finds out something they shouldn't, the local Arasaka office will arrange for them to have an accident. If it is a particularly sensitive mission the home office in Tokyo will be contacted to prep a special operation to deal with the problem. By and large, most local offices are more than adequately equipped and staffed to handle such tasks. In the past reporters have attempted to write an autobiography of Hanako Arasaka without the consent of the family, Saburo took great offense to this and had the reporter eliminated
Typically, great pains will be taken to see that a black operation is not connected with Arasaka unless the corporation wants to make an example of the target. There are, however, times when Arasaka goes out of its way to advertise its involvement in an operation. This is usually when it is retaliating against some person, group or other corporation that has publicly infringed against it. Arasaka also has a policy of visibly assassinating individuals and assaulting corporations that breach security at installations protected by Arasaka contracts. In these situations Arasaka is powerful and ruthless, maintaining its reputation as a persistent and deadly adversary.
Arasaka's black ops and political and financial influence had come of age in the world of 2020, giving the corporation far reaching influence across the world. Hundreds of influential politicians and agents at all levels of government and in every important country in the world are in Arasaka's pocket. Thousands of influential and wealthy private citizens, police departments and corporate executives are also under Arasaka's control. Arasaka already has more financial power in the industrialized world than any other single corporation. If it weren't for other corporate alliances arrayed against it, it might have been the single most powerful factor on Earth.
The highest priority for Arasaka employees is loyalty. This is especially true in the Security arm, where most of the sensitive operations are handled. Arasaka Security agents will lay their lives on the line for the corporation first and the client second. Troops are required to demonstrate unquestioning obedience when they are dispatched on missions, although they must use initiative and intelligence on assignment or in action. Agents and executives who show signs of wavering loyalty, or fail badly in their assignments are dismissed. Those who betray the company, or cause it damage are eliminated.
‣ Enemies and Allies The Arasaka Corporation has many enemies around the world. These enemies range from; corporations that compete directly with the company or have clashed with it, powerful individuals who suspect that their blackmailers have some relation to Arasaka, and even law enforcement officers from all over the world who suspect the extent of the illegal operations of Arasaka.
Among the corporations Arasaka has dealt with in the past are InfoComp, which had studied Arasaka's history and holdings multiple times for its database, Network News 54, which has lost several reporters investigating scandals related to Arasaka, and finally Militech. InfoComp is tiny compared to Arasaka, and receives little attention. Arasaka avoids direct confrontations with NN54, however the corporation will often report bad press for the corporation while praising its competitor. Militech and Arasaka have been in conflict on several occasions, and continue to face each other on a regular basis. Tensions between the two corporations through mutual sabotage have led to a Corporate War in the 2020s. Law enforcement agencies are contained not only by eliminating their agents, but by the skill with which Arasaka conceals its conflicts of interest and illegal operations.
Within the homeland of the corporation, Japan, Arasaka has also had problems with various corporations that try and undermine its operations. Many Japanese corporations formed a union specifically designed to counter Arasaka, known as FACS. The union has fought against Arasaka by exposing its corruption within the country. Another corporation from the East was Kang Tao, which made efforts to steal information, technology, and various corporate employees bought out from Arasaka to forward their own success.
Within EEC, Arasaka generally has conflict with the European council on occasion. However most of its operations were stable. In the late 2020s, tensions rose between Arasaka and a European corporation known as Amazonian Security.
Allies with Arasaka can be as grand as its enemies. Since the early 2000s, Arasaka has held a good relationship with World News Service often the two participating in conflicts as allies. WNS is one of few media corporations that is allowed to interview or report on Arasaka operations. Besides corporations, Arasaka has many allies within various nations in the world. Finally the corporation has strong ties with underground organizations such as the various Yakuza clans, Triads, and even the Tyger Claws.
‣ Controversies Like most megacorporations, Arasaka is frequently accused of unethical practice such as blackmail, bribery, extortion, and hiring mercenaries for covert, illegal operations. These mercenary operations could include suppressing legal demonstrations, assassinations, and abductions of high-level corporate experts and officials. The Arasaka Corporation was officially found guilty by the verdict of General Lundee's commission of the detonation of a thermonuclear device in the Night City Corporate Plaza in 2023. The result of the investigation have been openly and repeatablely questioned. In 2077, after the official announcement of the Relic program, many people as well as Religious organizations saw the project as inhuman and disturbing.
- #14[Corporation] Biotechnicaselective
Keys: Biotechnica
Biotechnica is a megacorporation. It created Triticum vulgaris megasuavis, the genus of wheat that is refined into the synthetic grain alcohol/fuel CHOOH2, and licenses the rights to use it to various petrochemical companies. It is the largest biotech company in the world, specializing in genetic engineering and biotechnical, pharmaceutical and microbiological research.
《Overview》 When the fuel crisis started to affect the industrial business in the late 1990s, Biotechnica, then a small company with a single office, came up with the answer: CHOOH2, a complex grain alcohol produced by genetically engineered yeasts and wheat strains. The potential of CHOOH2 was quickly realized, and within a few years many vehicles and power plants had converted to the new fuel.
Despite holding global patents, Biotechnica lacked the production facilities to meet global demand, forcing it to license production to several large agribusinesses and petro-corporations, mainly Petrochem and SovOil. These transactions made Biotechnica a very wealthy company. Besides utilizing the licensing rights of CHOOH2 to other corporations, Biotechnica has a multitude of bioware products on the market.
Biotechnica is always looking into more breakthroughs and is constantly expanding. They have facilities all over the world, including Rome, Venice, Berlin, Bonn, Paris, London, Hamamatsu, La Jolla, Seattle, Dallas, Night City, Sydney and Rio de Janeiro.
Biotechnica's labs have provided much of the tech that enabled the Pacifica Confederation to develop new bio-engineered "replacement species," and Biotechnica is active in restoring both animals and habitat throughout the blighted environments of this era.
Over the years Biotechnica genetically engineered a number of crops that could be farmed even with the drastic changes in Earth's climate. Most popular of these was FrostCorn, a hybrid species the company engineered to be adaptable to all climate conditions. The megacorporation sold licenses to cultivate FrostCorn to both national and local governments, most notably Alaska, as well as small, private farms. These annual licensing fees over the years slowly depleted the budgets of smaller businesses and forced more and more of them to sell their land to Biotechnica itself. Eventually, these farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs formed Crimson Harvest, an anti-corporate organization demanding that Biotechnica stops its extortionate practices. In response to Crimson Harvest's peaceful protests Biotechnica increased their prices even more, and was rumored to have unleashed a virus that hurt any crops grown from unlicensed grain. As the situation got worse, the organization became more radical. The tensions remained high until the bloodiest incident took place in a Biotechnica facility in Paris, after which Crimson Harvest was recognized as a terrorist organization. This seemingly escalated the conflict by a lot, with more anti-corporate fanatics joining Crimson Harvest and making it more dangerous than it ever was.

Keys: Fuyutsuki Electronics
Fuyutsuki Electronics is a Japanese corporation.
《Overview》 Fuyutsuki Electronics is a mass marketed, Japanese corporation that sells electronics devices including Cyberdecks, televisions, radios and more. Datashards are manufactured by Fuyutsuki and can be found sold in their stores across the world.
Fuyutsuki Eletronics stores can be found throughout Night City, as well as their advertisements across numerous billboards and posters. In many wealthy apartments, Screen Glass televisions can be found that are manufactured by Fuyutsuki.
- #16[Corporation] International Electric Corporationselective
Keys: International Electric Corporation, IEC, International Electric
The International Electric Corporation (IEC), simply referred to as International Electric, was a corporation from Berlin, Germany. IEC boasted holdings and markets in consumer products, defense industry, heavy industry and durable goods, raw materials, computers, and in media. Ultimately, there was no doubt that manufacturing had been the principal milieu of IEC, but so many different products come out of IEC plants and so many different markets are reached that it is difficult to simply say that it had been a manufacturing conglomerate and leave it at that. IEC's non-manufacturing holdings included a media company, a bank, and various diverse retailing and service subsidiaries, but these assets amount to little when compared to the enormous bulk of the IE manufacturing empire.
- #17[Corporation] Kang Taoselective
Keys: Kang Tao
Kang Tao is a weapons manufacturer, initially Taiwanese, later on Chinese. Kang Tao was originally headquartered in Taiwan, which had become a manufacturing haven in the late 2000s, after the country declared independence with the help of Japan and Arasaka. Kang Tao became an industry giant among the Taiwanese companies. Unlike the rest, it kept its independence by not selling out to Japanese business interests. Kang Tao manufactured weapons that were distributed through Asia and made their way to the US.
In the 2040s, Kang Tao was restructured into a Chinese-based company, making its way to the top tier of weapons manufacturing at a tremendous pace thanks to bold choices, courageous strategy, and government backing. In 2077, the corporation was mainly known for its firearms, especially their newest generation of so-called "smart-guns", weapons that employed gyrojet technology to fire caseless guided ammunition, but were also becoming important players in the mercenary and security markets.
《Public Relations》 Public relations for Kang Tao have broadly remained the same since its restructuring in the 2050s. Kang Tao's relations with the Chinese government have kept it out of trouble in the past, and most nations generally recognized it as a Megacorporation worth doing business with. However, its relations with other corporations are strained, as Kang Tao has made various efforts to steal from competitors.
‣ Controversies Kang Tao has had the reputation for being negligent in its various endeavors. The corporation has been involved with the death of thousands of citizens and employees due to its operations, and also has a reputation for stealing much research from other corporations in its field. While Kang Tao is aggressive, it manages to keep many of its controversial operations secret.

It is widely regarded as the leading expert in producing optical cyberware.
《Overview》 An industry leader in optics design and manufacturing. Kiroshi is well known to most users as a producer of high quality cyberoptic implants and scanners, but the company is also heavily invested in orbital programs across Asia and the Americas. After a brief conflict with the European Zeiss company during the Fourth Corporate War, the two rivals signed a peace treaty and divided their spheres of influence; however, they remained in a state of cold war, spying on one another, and possibly sabotaging each other's projects. Kiroshi are shrewd advertisers of their products: they sponsor celebrities and pop artists like Us Cracks, who are known for their unique and eccentric eye implants.
- #20[Corporation] Megacorporationsselective
Keys: Megacorporation, MegaCorps, Corporation, corps
The Corporations (Megacorporations or MegaCorps) are giant, transnational companies which dominate the world. They can range from simple media corporations to worldwide security firms, the only thing you have to remember is that they will kill anyone that stands in their way. Corps are often seen as sovereign nations in and of themselves and use their power to change the world around them.
《Overview》 Corporations are one of the most prominent entities in everyday life. Much like the corporations of the 21st century, they are worldwide conglomerates, that operate 24/7, buying, selling or providing services to many around the world. Corporations, and those within them, aim to get ahead by any means necessary. "Cutthroat" business culture is no longer a metaphor, as blackmail, extortion, bribery, kidnapping, espionage, and assassination have all become commonplace in the white-collar world. Small corporations typically act above the law, whereas really successful corporations are the Law.
Corporations operate more like small nations than they do companies. CEOs are more like monarchs, holding onto power for as long as they can, and using the company to do their bidding. Scandals are brushed aside and power grabs are swiftly dealt with a bullet. Junior members have to watch their backs constantly, with lower-level employees just itching at a chance for their job, and higher-level employees willing to hold onto theirs with lethal force.
‣ Structure The corporation power structure is typically set up so that the CEO or president is at the top of the food chain. Underneath them is a sea of mid to high-level executives, all vying for a chance to progress up the ladder. Junior execs are what you would call a yuppie with more money than sense, they typically run smaller projects such as extorting a smaller rival or corporate espionage. Above them are managers, who oversee a whole department. The major infighting in corporations begins here, with dirty tricks, nepotism, and dishonesty being the primary factor in promotions to the next level. At this level, you see VPs, whose role mostly comprises of the day-to-day running of the company. Above them, you have the senior management, your various C designation officers, CEO, COO, CFO, etc. Founders, owners, major stakeholders sometimes comprise this level of the company but they are more likely to be seen on the board of directors. These are the ones with the true power and they always travel with a heavy armed presence.
‣ History After the World Market Collapse of 1993, many corporations faced bankruptcy and folded. Many large corporations that survived became even larger. In the case of the Arasaka Corporation, they didn't just survive the collapse, but they greatly benefited from it, and was able to pick up the pieces of much smaller corps. The post collapse United States became free reign for the corporations. The federal government was not in a position to stop them, as such the burden of chaos fell onto regional and municipal governments as they encountered a new wave of capitalist violence and extortion. This took the form of corporate bribes, corruption of government officials, and corporate militias warring in the streets. Along with drastic spikes in organized crime and gang membership, widespread impoverishment and unemployment, and in the case of the USA and UK, massive loss of revenue due to most citizens becoming nomads or just not declaring a SIN. As such, many cities and metropolises were turned into de facto "special economic zones" where corporations were exempt from taxes, regulations, and sometimes even the law itself, with the corpos gradually began co-opting local governments.
Puppet mayors and governors were voted into office and local laws were put in place to benefit the corps. Cities such as San Diego, Philadelphia, Belfast, Singapore, Hiroshima, and Yokohama are policed by the Arasaka Corporation, they do not accept money for their fee, but rather influence and power in those cities. Night City was entirely funded by the corporations, in order for them to have a piece of land they could call their own, and act in with impunity. Subsequent mass privatization of what was once public enterprise within these cities began, and most were powerless to stop it. A place like Night City is largely under control of Arasaka, as they used it to their own advantage. The corporations thirst for power, resources, and capital did not stop at simple special ops tactics carried out by covert operatives. The corporations would would fund a full scale wars against each other in order to achieve their goals and ambitious.
The development of new technologies and world events during the 90s also made the post-Crash period a key time for new companies to develop. Venture capital was scarce in the wake of economic upheaval, but there were still enough investors around who had survived the collapse, and even played it to their advantage, to pump funds into a few promising, infant industries such as cybertechnology, biotech, independent military contracting and technology, artificial intelligence, net-tech, and so on. The general economic confusion of the years from 1994 to 2016 was increased as these new companies attempted to establish footholds to stake their claims in the new order.
- #21[Corporation] Militech International Armamentsselective
Keys: Militech, Militech International Armaments
Militech International Armaments is a megacorporation specializing in weapons manufacturing and private military contracting. Militech is one of the world's largest manufacturers of weapons and military vehicles, with facilities on every continent.
Militech provides equipment for numerous nations as well as both private and governmental organizations, especially the NUSA military and police forces. This equipment includes but is not limited to personal firearms, drones, tanks, aircraft, ships, and Assisted Combat Personal Armor.
An alternate branch of the corporation provides private military forces ostensibly for the purposes of defense, peacekeeping and nation-building missions, however these forces have been used to aid terrorist organizations and military coups in the past.
《Public Relations》 The Militech Corporation has struggled with public relations since it's inception as a Megacorporation. Militech is often seen as a reliable corporation for supplies and weapons alike, however the corporation itself is seen as a danger especially within the NUSA. Over the decades the corporation has had it's control over the NUSA and uses much of it's resources and capital to benefit themselves for expansion. However the board of directors have attempted to change this image of the corporation by supplying the police and army with much needed defensive arsenal, as well as contracting it's forces to stabilize and secure the NUSA from the threat of nomad clans. Militech has also been responsible for sponsoring shows and providing cyberware or computer components to people who require them. At the same time Militech uses it's influence to bring a negative agenda and propaganda towards foreign influences, mainly Asian or European influences.
‣ Enemies & Allies In 2020, Lundee's envy of the Arasaka chief and the Arasaka Corporation in general, was widely known. Many experts expected the regular scraps between Militech and Arasaka to explode into full scale war some-time before 2030. This prediction was soon seen in the Fourth Corporate War.
Militech's attempts to monopolize the arms industry have made it the natural enemy of many other arms companies, as well as that of several larger corporations that have weapons manufacturing subsidiaries. Among the more vociferous and troublesome of Militech's weapons industry enemies were independents Sternmeyer Waffenfabrik SA and Federated Arms. Larger corporations that Militech had tensions with were Schumann-Stein and IEC conglomerates.
During the 2010s, Militech's closest corporate ally was the Lazarus Group. In addition, Colonel Emile Lazarus and General Lundee knew each other from their days in the military and are personal friends. However, Col. Lazarus disagreed with his friend's antagonistic views of Arasaka, and disliked the shift in Lundee's thinking, away from the pursuit of military excellence, and toward the fulfillment of personal power goals.
Militech had managed to irritate several national governments around the world, mostly because it supplies their enemies, but none of those small countries have the power to cause Militech much trouble beyond their borders. Militech's closest national ally is the NUSA. As far as international influence goes that's strictly a zero, since, following the Collapse, the phrase "American International Power" is widely considered oxymoronic.
‣ Controversies Militech is often accused of taking part in ethically shady or blatantly illegal black ops, such as hiring out their private military to support revolutions, military coups, assassinations, terrorist attacks, and ethnic cleansings. The company was also suspected of planting and detonating the nuclear bomb in Arasaka's Night City headquarters in 2023, though no evidence has ever validated those claims.
In 2077, Militech has been caught massacring innocent citizens of the NUSA. 75% of the victims of the massacres had been identified as Japanese. Along with much evidence towards the corporation, many have suspected Militech to be against foreign influence in the country. For decades the Presidents of the NUSA have been previous higher ups or even CEO of the Megacorporation which has led to Militech gaining much support from the government. Citizens of the NUSA have fought against the hold Militech has had on the country, however no success has been seen.
Militech has also been shown to disregard veterans of their corp military after they retire, these veterans were often discovered without proper medication or were even massacred by Militech themselves. These massacres had also lend to a poor relationship with the various nomads within the NUSA.
- #22[Corporation] Night Corporationselective
Keys: Night Corporation, Night Corp, Night International, Night's Foundation
Night Corporation (commonly stylized as Night Corp) is a development firm and public works corporation headquartered in Night City. Originally founded by Richard Night as a development firm known as Night International, it was later restructured into Night's Foundation by Richard's wife and widow Miriam Night, and later again into Night Corp.
《Overview》 Night Corp is a unique enterprise that puts its full attention on Night City and its affairs, inspired by the ideals of the city's founder, Richard Night, and his wife Miriam. By adhering to their founders' vision, the company aims to improve the living standards of all Night Citizens, putting the metropolis' welfare first and foremost.
Night Corp is a development firm and public works corporation that acts as the largest contractor of public procurements within Night City's boundaries, building and renovating facilities such as roads, bridges, tunnels, metro lines, power plants, net transmitters, waterworks, sewerage, among others. The corporation is also known for their charities designed to aid the poor children of Night City, scholarship programs to benefit gifted youth — Jefferson Peralez, future Mayor of Night City, was among them — or donations to the various city orphanages. Night Corp is also heavily invested in research for ecology and alternate power sources, as well as other developments involving avant-garde technology, financing multiple local projects in the process. They also posses orbital stations and satellites around Earth.
Due to the corporation's seclusive and often downright secretive policies, not much is publicly known about Night Corp, sparking many rumors about their operations, which supposedly include underwater works in Del Coronado Bay, secretive engagements in mayoral elections, or shares in their orbital projects. Night Corp security is tight, and most corporations prefer to not mess with them in their own territory.
The company's headquarters are located in the City Center district of Night City.
- #23[Corporation] Petrochemical Associates Internationalselective
Keys: Petrochemical Associates International, Petrochem
Petrochemical Associates International is a megacorporation whose primary focus is the petrochemical industry. Petrochem is the world's largest producer of the synthetic alcohol fuel CHOOH2 (under license from Biotechnica), the primary fuel source for the mid-21st century. Petrochem controls millions of acres of arable land across the NUSA. It is also one of the world's largest oil producers next to SovOil. With the oil supply dwindling, most remaining fossil fuels are used to make plastics and other synthetics, and Petrochem has more fertile oilfields than any other company. All of these assets are huge, and appropriately difficult to protect from other companies that would like to attain Petrochem's wealth.
《Public Relations》 Petrochem uses high-visibility tactics to keep its name and logo in the public consciousness. CHOOH4U stops are a major factor in the corporation's visibility as every station sports the company logo. Television and magazine ads plug the wide variety of services and products offered by the corporation, while at the same time, enormous lighted billboards and signs tower over the business districts of many major cities.
Petrochem's food production division is a major public relations boon. The corporation has an ongoing program under which it distributes surplus food stocks to poverty-stricken urban areas and grain to famine-stricken countries. The amounts are small compared the to corporation's overall budget, but they serve their purpose as far as public opinion is concerned.
‣ Enemies and Allies Petrochem's most obvious enemy is SovOil. The two giants have a decades-long history of animosity and competition, and tension is never far away from growing again.
Apart from SovOil, Petrochem has no truly potent enemies. Many other companies compete in CHOOH2 production, but most of them are small enough so that they represent no real threat. Periodically they disrupt Petrochem's operations, but without a coalition, which is unlikely, they will be unable to cause Petrochem any long-term damage. Petrochem also competes with other agricorps, but few of them are willing to take any serious action since they rely on the corporation for fuel.
Petrochem's strongest ally is Biotechnica. As long as Biotechnica holds the patents to CHOOH2, the two companies will remain cordial. Biotechnica will not bend to Petrochem's will, but it does give its largest licensee special deals. Many analysts thought that, once it had the secret of CHOOH2, Petrochem would squash the small Biotechnica and refuse to pay any license fees. Biotechnica has weapons that other corporations only dream about, however, including viruses which can destroy all known varieties of T. Megasuavis. and prevent any seeds from being viable. What it created, it can destroy with unmatched efficiency. As long as Biotechnica holds these trump cards, Petrochem is unlikely to mess around. The companies continue to have a mutually beneficial business arrangement, although it strains a little at license renewal time.
Petrochem also stays on a cordial footing with the industrial giants: Arasaka, Militech, EBM and IEC. Many of these corporations have special deals which enable them to purchase CHOOH2, at a bulk discount. This makes it cheaper for them to keep their armies running, and makes Petrochem a valuable ally. There are always other sources, however, and corporate alliances are fickle things.
Petrochem's monopoly on the North American CHOOH2 supply is a valuable piece of insurance that has helped the corporation to remain secure in troubled times. It remains to be seen how long the company can stay secure as world tensions rise.
- #24[Corporation] Soviet World Oil Industriesselective
Keys: Soviet World Oil Industries, SovOil, SGKP
Soviet World Oil Industries is a petrochemical corporation headquartered in the Soviet Union, best known in the USSR by the Russian language acronym SGKP and contraction KeroSov, and in the West by the English version of the same contraction, SovOil.
SovOil, being the richest company in the Soviet Union, used its economic power to manipulate and ultimately control the Soviet government.
《Goals》 SovOil is a wealthy and powerful corporation, with unmatched access to an incredibly valuable commodity, plus a variety of other products and industries. As long as the oil continues to flow, the corporation will thrive and grow. SovOil's leaders know, however, that the oil will not flow forever, and they are making plans that will carry the company into the next step of its evolution, when the oil is no longer a prime source of income.
The first step toward ensuring the company's survival is diversification. SovOil is the major economic force in the Soviet Union and much of eastern Europe, and the company has a guaranteed market share in these areas. The more services and goods the corporation can provide the people of these regions with, the better off the company will be when oil is no longer a mainstay. SovOil is already active in mining, construction, shipbuilding, vehicular design, electronics, research and CHOOH2 agriculture. It is just beginning to move into aircraft, computers, synthetics, CHOOH2 power systems, and general agriculture. By 2030, the board hopes to have a product base diverse enough to support the company after the oil is gone.
A major part of the company's post-oil fortunes will depend on how successful SovOil's CHOOH2 endeavors are. SovOil's directorate hopes that the company can begin to compete with Petrochem in terms of volume and quality within the next decade. SovOil is increasing its agricultural base, expanding its CHOOH2 plantations into Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean nations. The company continues to fund extensive research to improve the efficiency of its fermenting and refining technique, and the number of SovOil CHOOH2 stations and fuel supply contracts is growing daily.
SovOil's expansion in the CHOOH2 industry has not gone unnoticed by Petrochem. There is still a great deal of acrimony between the two corporations, even ten years after the war. With competition for the CHOOH2 market heating up, and world oil resources growing scarcer and more valuable, it looks like the two giants may be headed for another violent conhntation. Especially volatile hot spots include the Antarctic, where both corporations have ongoing oil exploration programs, and Western Europe and South America, where the corporations are trying to sell CHOOH2 to the same clients. Petrochem still smarts from its loss of the valuable South China Sea oil fields, and if another confrontation erupts it will no doubt commit every resource to make sure that it emerges on top. Military and stock analysts are keeping a careful watch on the situation. There is justified anxiety that, if another large conflict erupts, the world's supply of CHOOH2 and Hydrocarbon products will drop precipitously, and the entire corporate hierarchy will be destabilized.
《Corporate Problems》 SovOil's concerns extend beyond its diversification and competition with Petrochem. The corporation operates in a very politically unstable area. The Union of Soviet Sovereign Republics is a shaky alliance at best. Despite Central Committee government and nominal economic cooperation, many of the republics have their own agendas. Hostilities often erupt between republics with long histories of conflict, and bickering and dissent are common. If a political catastrophe was to cause the fragmentation of the USSR, many analysts believe that SovOil would not survive for long as a corporate entity.
In order to stabilize the area as much as possible, SovOil has become both overtly and covertly active in the governments of most of the republics and in the Central committee. The company lobbies publicly for continued alliance, and financially and politically supports pro-union politicians. Behind the scenes, SovOil's secret police actively work, via bribes, intimidation, and assassination, to make sure that the right people come to power and remain there. Although the new Union was envisioned as a self-perpetuating alliance, SovOil has become the primary force responsible for its economic and political stability.
Petrochem is aware of SovOil's precarious political situation, and the American corporation has an entire covert department devoted to destabilizing the USSR and interfering with SovOil's unification work. The Central Committee and the republican governments have become a huge battleground for Soviet and American corporate and political espionage agents. Although most analysts are expecting another battlefield conflict, it could be the war behind the scenes that determines which corporation will survive and which will fade.
- #25[Corporation] Trauma Team Internationalselective
Keys: Truama Team, Trauma Team International, TTI
Trauma Team International (TTI) is a corporation that specializes in rapid response medical services. As the premium paramedical franchise, Trauma Team™ is one of the most notable corporations of the 21st century. The company automatically bills their patients from the moment they receive the order to the location of retrieval.
TTI partners with many corporations such as Arasaka, Militech, Night Corp, Biotechnica, or Kiroshi, allowing certain employees access to Trauma Team memberships without paying for the service themselves. The medical corporation also manufacturers its own products for the general public to use.
《Business Model》 Trauma Team services are comprised of two main components:
On-the-ground services includes 24/7 emergency AV dispatch with a reflex booster-ready pilot, armed safety experts, and military-trained paramedics. A client's health status is tracked by internal cyberware, and if a client takes a turn for the worse, an AV squad receives their GPS signal and arrives on the scene in minutes. Reaction time and additional perks are dependent on the client's insurance package.
Inpatient care guarantees that every Trauma Team branch clinic is equipped with surgical nannites, specialized antibodies, and cryogenic chambers. Trauma Team also offers their own medications and reanimators, and has a selection of surplus implants from their suppliers.
‣ Premium Packages Trauma Team's premium insurance packages are divided into three grades: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The Platinum package is the most comprehensive and expensive option. It includes 24/7 monitoring, emergency patient transport, surgery and nano surgery, post-trauma rehabilitation, plastic surgery on demand, free check ups with the client's ripperdoc, and up to 90% discount on prescriptions, and a 3-minute response time. Gold and Silver packages are cheaper, but include fewer perks.
Clients can subscribe to one of Trauma Team's premium packages for as little as 24 hours if they cannot afford longer-term coverage.
《Trauma Team squads》 Each Trauma Team squad consists of:
-An aerodyne pilot and co-pilot -2x Security Specialists -A lead EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) -An assistant EMT
Each trauma team squad has their own TTI Medical AV-4A, a light-weight Aerodyne made of composite materials. The pilot mans the AV-4A, while the co-pilot mans the vehicle's front-mounted gatling gun. The pilot and co-pilot do not leave the Aerodyne during patient extraction, and their cockpit is kept separate from the rest of the vehicle.
During flight, two Security Specialists sit in the same compartment as the EMTs. The security specialists sit directly behind the pilot and co-pilot, and each of them mans a 7.62 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) machine-gun mounted to their side of the vehicle. The EMTs sit toward the back of the vehicle, with the Lead EMT sitting next to the patient stretcher and the Assistant EMT sitting next to the medical supplies.
During patient extraction, the two EMTs and two Security Specialists disembark from the AV-4A and make their way to the patient to rescue them. If necessary, the two Security Specialists will clear a path to the patient for the EMTs using their rifles and submachine guns. Each EMT is armed with a pistol for self-protection.
- #26[District] City Centerselective
Keys: City Center, District
City Center is one of the major districts of Night City, located in the central portion of the metropolis.
《Overview》 City Center is the central business district (CBD) of Night City, the biggest commercial hub of the metropolitan area. Many of the city's corporations operate from here. This district is the real showcase of Night City; the once smoldering battlefield of the Fourth Corporate War and nuclear fallout from the AHQ Disaster. Restoration of the district was a lengthy and costly process, but by 2077, it was the most fortified district in all of Night City.
Filled with modern, cutting-edge architecture, City Center is where anyone can witness the unrivaled might of megacorporations. This is where the rich and overworked spend their lives, building up the economic power of the metropolis. The most notorious feature is Corporate Plaza, reaching for the sky with its brutal corporate skyscrapers and blinding floodlights. It serves as the heart of the district, as well as a home to some of the biggest corporations in the world, such as Arasaka, Militech, Biotechnica, Petrochem, Kang Tao, among others.
Downtown is full of narrow alleys, night clubs, celebrities, and corporate stiffs. Here you'll find an abundance of office buildings and eccentrically shaped architecture — as well as exclusive apartments, hotels, and restaurants. Its northern waterfront is a mecca for artists and snobs, with galleries, concert halls and ateliers around every corner. Despite the elegance and power of Downtown, it isn't as secure as it would seem: turn down the wrong alley and you'll find yourself en-route to sleazy love hotels, dive bars, and shadowy corners where drug deals — and worse — are a common occurrence.
- #27[District] Heywoodselective
Keys: Heywood, District
Heywood is one of the major districts of Night City, located in the central portion of the metropolis.
《Overview》 In 2077, Heywood is seen as a district of complete contrasts. The north borders the City Center and is where you'll find lush parks and modern skyscrapers towering high above. However further south, the district changes drastically, with dangerous and unwelcoming slum-like areas dominating the urban landscape. The Valentinos and 6th Street gangs have control over this district, and are constantly fighting for it, though if you keep your head low they won't bother you, usually. Known by the locals as "the biggest bedroom in Night City," Heywood houses more people than any other portion of the city. The richer parts of Heywood are primarily occupied by corporate types, while the rest are just happy they get to live in Heywood.
Wellsprings, the safest part of Heywood, is full of working stiffs and underpaid corporate employees, being one of the most touristic destinations of the district. The Glen is the state-owned sub-district, with the city hall, justice court, and a large NCPD presence. Vista del Rey is the poorest part of the district, being heavily underinvested, crime-ridden, and slowly descending further into chaos, with many residents moving to other locations and more gang members moving into the empty void.
- #28[District] Pacificaselective
Keys: Pacifica, District
Pacifica is one of the major districts of Night City, located in the southern portion of the metropolis.
《Overview》 Pacifica was originally envisioned as Night City's vacation resort for the ultra-wealthy. It was to be true paradise, catering to corporate employees and tourists alike and with Militech security contractors protecting its golden sandy beaches, luxurious hotels, and unmatched entertainment. By 2077 the district has become a lawless and anarchic Combat Zone, no longer considered part of Night City's administrative boundaries.
- #29[District] Santo Domingoselective
Keys: Santo Domingo, District
Santo Domingo (English: Saint Dominic) is one of the six districts of Night City.
《Overview》 This district originates from the old Heywood, which by the 2040s was already being called Santo Domingo. As such, it is one of the oldest districts in Night City. Due to its location, the district avoided any major damage from the 4th Corporate War. It turned into a provisional camp for thousands of citizens seeking shelter. By 2077, the settlements were all gone and Santo Domingo had become a testing ground for industrial projects; corporations destroy old factories, only to build new ones in their place.
Meanwhile, residents seek a desperate living in the crowded megabuildings - hoping for better things to come. It didn't take long for a couple of ex-military veterans to group together and take matters into their own hands. The district then became home to the 6th Street Gang.
Arroyo is the industrial heart of Santo Domingo. In this region of contrast, you can find an old power plant and junkyard right next to newly built, high-tech corporate factories. Operational factories keep their own private security, as neglected buildings quickly become controlled by the gangs.
The workers from Arroyo then return home to Rancho Coronado - a self-sufficient housing district with dozens of identical homes. This neighborhood is reminiscent of the traditional American homes of the early 20th century.
- #30[District] Watsonselective
Keys: Watson, District
Watson is one of the major districts of Night City, located in the northern portion of the metropolis.
《Overview》 In 2077, Watson is seen as a sad and desperate place. It is well known as one of Night City's poorest districts, with many industrial factories and plants being completely abandoned. Watson is also the battleground in the war between Maelstrom and Tyger Claws gangs. The former reigns over the Northside Industrial District (NID), which consists of derelict factories and working-class apartment blocks. The well-known Totentanz bar is also located here.
Tyger Claws operate from Little China and Kabuki. The former is a high density urban region with skyscrapers, and overpopulated with Asian immigrants. It was once the best place in all of Night City to legally spend some money on body enhancements, but has since been overrun by the Kabuki marketplaces. The old Med Center is located in this area, and so is the notorious Afterlife.
Kabuki is a maze of narrow alleyways located right next to Little China. At night, they turn into a bazaar for implants, organs, steroids, and much more. It is said anything a person could desire can be found in the Kabuki Roundabout. This makes Watson a prime target for Scavs, a ruthless group that kidnaps and harvests peoples' organs and implants for resale on the black market.
The rest of Watson belongs to Arasaka in an area known as the Arasaka Waterfront. This place is completely off-limits to anyone who isn't an employee of the corporation. The NCPD cautions everyone that decides to visit the Watson sub-districts to be cautious.
- #31[District] Westbrookselective
Keys: Westbrook, District
The Westbrook District of Night City is home to many wealthy elites, celebrities, and corporates. It is also home to Japantown, an especially important part of Night City for two reasons. The first being that it's the cultural center for the city's sizable Japanese community. The second is that it is home base for most of the Yakuza families operating throughout Northern California; it's centrally located, has limited police interference, and outsiders tend to stick out like a sore thumb. The Tyger Claws are the dominant gang in the district and are considered its rulers, though only at night, in order to avoid the presence of heavy corporate security.
《Overview》 Westbrook is considered by many to be the best place to live and have fun in all of Night City. It is home to many wealthy elites, celebrities, corporates, and most influential members of society. This, however, was not always the case. In 2023, after the nuclear bomb set off in the Arasaka Towers, a portion of Westbrook closest to the City Center sustained significant damage, turning skyscrapers into ghostly, crooked skeletons for the next two decades. During the great restoration of Night City, residents saw the many ruins removed and replaced by Asian corporations. The once dangerous Combat Zone, was revived into an exclusive, ultra secure District.
North Oak used to see crime rates that measured higher than any other district, but with the attentive help of mercenaries, order has been well and truly restored. In 2077, North Oak is home to many of Night City's untouchable elite: corporate regional directors, managers, bankers, and executives. Private security forces are present all over, resulting in gangs being non-existent here. Taking a walk through its tree-lined streets at every step, you're met with luxurious cars, private villas, and tennis courts. Nowadays, it is considered the most beautiful neighborhood in all of Night City.
Charter Hill is well-known as the place many aspiring and ambitious corpo that cannot afford to live in North Oak reside. This part of the district is all about mass housing. However living here leads to a lifestyle under constant attack, because of this the wealthy need the work of bodyguards as well as the use of armored vehicles to stay safe. It's the price you need to pay for even just a taste of such luxury.
If you've got the eddies, you come to Japantown. If you don't have enough to spend, well, take out a loan and pretend you're on top of the world. Even if it is just for a short amount of time, it'll be a night you remember. It's chock-full of gaming parlors, street food stands, and capsule hotels. Ain't nowhere quite so enticing. It also lies very close to the City Center.
- #32[Gang] 6th Streetselective
Keys: 6th Street, gang
6th Street is a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 The uniforms of 6th Street gangsters are heavily influenced by military and patriotic accents: military boots, tactical vests and knee pads, cargo pants, baseball caps with NUSA flags, stars, stripes, and eagles. Cyberware used by the gang include cyberoptics, pain editors, and health monitors. They are supplied by Militech and Kendachi.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The gang consists of about 2,300 members by 2077. 6th Street was formed about fifty years prior by veterans of the Fourth Corporate War who were tired of the local gangs and the helplessness of the NCPD and decided to take matters into their own hands. They gathered some equipment, refreshed themselves on their training, and then took to the streets.
The gang was created to keep thugs and hoodlums at bay, and the charismatic leaders gave people a way to protect themselves and seek retribution for the damage caused by other gangs. By the 2070s, 6th Street gangsters are veterans of more recent conflicts, retired military and discharged corporate security officers who are unable to find other employment. The rest of the gang consists of civilians who receive military training after joining.
Their main headquarters are located in Arroyo, but the other districts under their control have their own local HQs that are responsible for patrolling the neighborhood and monitoring the gang's facilities.
‣ Source of Income 6th Street's operations came to include robbery, extortion, and gun smuggling. The group also has extensive connections with nomad groups inside and outside of Night City. They also steal and modify cars, as 6th Street have talented techies which run many garages and workshops around the city. They offer services as a combat taxi for hire, which make them especially popular among edgerunners and mercenaries.
Despite their criminal nature, the gang is mostly tolerated by corporations and police forces, unless 6th Street gangsters cause trouble outside their established turf. Military oriented corporations have customers for high-end products and the NCPD's job was made easier by the ersatz law that the gang maintain in their neighborhoods.
- #33[Gang] Animalsselective
Keys: The Animals, gang
The Animals are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 The Animals are an aggressive street-fighting gang without permanent turf in Night City, but who put emphasis on physical power above all else. They are known for eschewing traditional cyberware in favor of custom-brewed body enchantments such as ultra-testosterone and animal supplements (including equine growth hormones) in order to make themselves bigger and stronger. Despite being considered purists by some, they aren't against using a number of body-enhancing implants like pain editors, subdermal armors, combat drug injectors, or augmented cyberlimbs. If someone looks like their muscles are so large that they're about to burst, they're probably an Animal. Their most used beverage is a notorious steroid-like drug known as the "Juice," which increases the user's strength, size and speed, but causes several health risk problems. The Animals are a gang that focuses on achieving peak human strength, and for them, the term "concrete jungle" is literal in that they respected brawniness and ability above all else.
Experienced brawlers and trained in various forms of martial arts, Animals are keen on cage fights, duels, and other displays of brute physical force. They frequently sell off their services as bouncers and bodyguards, jobs for which they're heavily sought after, and are spread throughout Night City. Its members typically wear tattoos and hooligan hoods as well as some artificial animalistic features ranging from purely cosmetic changes like spotted or stripped skin and subdermal implants, to extreme plastic surgery and cybernetic modifications like bestial jaws, and vat-grown implanted muscles. Some Animal members are known for their exotics.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The Animals are fascinated with the feral, primal side of human nature. They view this aspect as the border between man and animal, and are each on a personal quest to establish themselves as a new dominant human subspecies. To achieve this, they constantly subject themselves to brutal and violent tests of skill. They often take on dangerous cyber-implanted opponents to prove they're better, no matter if they're from other dangerous gangs, the NCPD, or corporate forces. They trained in fighting sports not for philosophical reasons but to sharpen their effectiveness in combat.
Internal gang relations are equally animalistic. On their own impermanent turf, Animals are divided into small "packs" led by the biggest and strongest member, the alpha male or female. Disputes are often solved with trial by combat, which is fought until one side completely submits.
‣ Criminal Activity and Sources of Income Animals are mostly known for their ultraviolent raids on residential districts and other gangs' home turf. They also organize illegal underground fights and manufacture and sell drugs, mostly custom brew anabolic steroids. A few packs specialize in raiding drug stores, chemical transport, pharmaceutical companies, and drug dealers. Some hire themselves out as bodyguards or bouncers for a large number of businesses such as brothels, strip clubs, corporations, and more. Some are even racketeers who specialized in extortion and assault.
- #34[Gang] Maelstromselective
Keys: Maelstrom, gang
The Maelstrom are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 Maelstrom is fascinated with cybertechnologies and the Net. Its members frequently undergo extensive illegal body modifications, with many on the edge of developing cyberpsychosis, or already suffering from it. Their physical appearance are distinguished by their dehumanizing heavy cyberware augmentations and occult-inspired tattoos.
Maelstrom's territory is in the industrial part of Watson. Deeply obsessed with cybertechnology, their urge to improve the weakness of their own human flesh is far stronger than their fear of cyberpsychosis.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The gang's philosophy is dictated by their obsession to improve the "weak flesh" and install lots of cyberware, as well as a fascination with the occult and the pursuit of any otherworldly sensations. Outsiders believe these ideals are connected, as many think over-augmentation can lead to cyberpsychosis and other mental disorders, though this doesn't seem to bother Maelstrom, as they clearly enjoy sliding on the edge of madness. Cyberware used by them include pain editors, cyberoptics, and reflex boosters.
They partitioned their organization into smaller groups, each responsible for a different part of their criminal empire. Depending on the task, these groups could be as small as four or five if patrolling their own turf, or large as thirty members to partake in raids, hit jobs, or protecting valuable cargo.
‣ Sources of Income The main revenue stream for Maelstromers comes from smuggling illegal meds and drugs. They also perform hit jobs, which they execute in bizarre and brutal fashion. Many victims are found dismembered, skinned alive, or drowned in wet concrete. They also perform well planned and executed heists on heavily-guarded corporate transports.
Another prominent source of income is the Totentanz club, the most popular gangster club and "drink and riot" venue in Night City. Totentanz is located in an abandoned hotel where other gangsters go to party and listen to neo-death metal music as long as they obey Maelstrom's authority and customs. If a night at TTC has a body count less than a dozen it's considered crappy and boring.
Rumors say that the gang is involved in the production of black market braindance records; especially bizarre, disturbing, and extremely violent ones. Other rumors state they produced a BD called "Numbness," an emotional void that places users in a strange state of mind, which is quite popular among overstimulated BD users. Despite these rumors, the NCPD can't find evidence to prove Maelstrom is involved in the BD black market.
- #35[Gang] The Moxselective
Keys: Mox, The Mox, Moxes, gang
The Mox, also known as the Moxes, are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 The Mox are a small gang based out of Lizzie's Bar in Kabuki. They're made up of outcasts of different backgrounds in Night City, mostly sex workers, anarchists, punks, and sexual minorities. Formed in the interest of mutual self-defense purposes, their name comes from the old slang term "moxie," denoting their determination to stand up against their oppressors. One of their emblems was "Moxes" written in calligraphy.
The Mox like to wear outfits that are a mix of the punk aesthetic and the inexpensive fashion worn typically by prostitutes; however they usually don't wear clothes that would restrain their movements in any way, leaving them looking more like gangsters than your typical sex workers. Some members, especially those who focus on combat, have heavily modified bodies that sometimes evoked a "plastic doll" style, but can also be disguised with RealSkinn. One of their gang symbols was a labrys, a double-headed axe, displayed on their walls, clothes, tattoos, or jewelry.
The Moxes have their own clothing brand that goes by the name BITCH V.13. While most Mox gangsters carry bats and clubs, Mox Cleavers and Inciters generally carry weaponry similarly used by the Tyger Claws gang, likely pilfered from their fallen opponents in the ongoing conflict between the rival factions.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The Mox don't have strict hierarchy. Nevertheless, they're a gang, and regardless of the fact that its members refers to themselves as "those who protect working girls and guys" from violence and abuse, they demand substantial fees from their charges. They also run several smaller brothels where they profit from prostitution, as well as clinics.
‣ Source of Income Most of the Moxes' income is generated by Lizzie's Bar, which is an exclusive braindance club. They don't control any contiguous portion of Night City, focusing instead on protecting their facilities, members, and sex workers who operate in the vicinity of Lizzie's Bar and their other establishments. As long as they're left to their business, they don't actively seek confrontation with other gangs, although they maintain tense relations with the Tyger Claws, who continue to test their patience and combat capabilities.
- #36[Gang] Scavengersselective
Keys: Scavengers, Scavs, gang
The Scavengers, also known as Scavs, are an organization made of multiple groups operating in Night City. They are known for kidnapping people and forcibly harvesting their cyberware.
《Overview》 Scavenger are ruthless lowlife scum who prey on unwary law-abiding citizens and gangsters alike. They emerged as a side effect of the mass availability of body augmentations. Harvesting cyberware and organs is a nasty but profitable business, and Scavengers fill this niche by assaulting their victims on the streets. They're absolutely brutal with zero regard to human life. To a Scav, a human is just a set of products waiting to be sold on the black market.
‣ Philosophy and Structure Scavengers do not obey any particular philosophy. They do not care about anything but themselves and profit. They are merciless and immoral, their methods are far from sophisticated- Scavs are not afraid to get their hands dirty. This loosely defined gang has achieved a monopoly in the body parts aftermarket, since their customers would rather pay for human organs and second-hand cyberware than get into the gore business themselves. Cyberware used by the gang include cyberoptics, pain editors, health monitors, Kereznikov, and K.E.R.S.
Scavengers tend to operate in small groups, with no official hierarchy to unite them, nor do they have a designated piece of turf. Their groups are spread throughout Night City and mark their presence with tags and graffiti. They can be found anywhere but they have a more concentrated presence in northern Pacifica and southern part of Wellsprings. Due to this scattering, they tend to form small bands with little or no internal hierarchy or structure, though groups tend to be led by the most unscrupulous, savage, and cunning individuals. Despite their lack of organized structure, Scavenger groups are definitely not to be disregarded or taken lightly. Knowing that their gruesome reputation is one of their few assets, they will make sure to make a grisly example of anyone who crosses them or complicates their business.
‣ Sources of Income Assault, abduction, mutilation, and dismemberment are the Scavengers' usual modus operandi. Their victims, or "donors" as Scavs call them, are often never found, because the gang tend to use the entire body of their victims. Any cyberware or organs that can be harvested or sold are placed on the black market. The impossible to find leftovers are either dumped, burned, or left as fodder for rats in the city sewers.
Scavengers are the main suppliers for low-end cyberware for other gangs, small-time criminals, and shady ripperdocs. They are also frequently hired to perform unpleasant or inconvenient tasks with which their clients do not want to be associated, be they heists, hit jobs, and abductions. As long as there is money on the table, a Scav will take the job no questions asked.
- #37[Gang] Tyger Clawsselective
Keys: Tyger Claws, gang
The Tyger Claws are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 The Tyger Claws is a ruthless territorial gang based in Japantown. They're one of the largest gangs in Night City with a number of approximately 5,500 members in 2077. Tyger foot soldiers are easily recognized by their Asian luminous tattoos, fast street bikes, katanas, and tantos. Cyberware used by the gang includes reflex boosters, augmented cyberlimbs, pain editors, and electronic countermeasures (ECM) systems disguised as tattoos.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The business strategy of the Tyger Claws are similar to the Yakuza. Crossing the lowest level member could cause a quick and violent reaction from the entire gang, but if they get what they want, everything should be fine.
The top brass of the Claws believe business is preferable to war in the long run, but many of the rank-and-file gangsters are sadistic brutes prone to violence. Abduction, torture, sexual assault, and cruel or unusual killings are just a few examples of their depravity. It isn't uncommon for young, brash, or drunk Tygers to undermine the gang's ideologies by abusing their status on their turf, harassing outsiders, and provoking fights. This behavior is considered dishonorable by their crime bosses, but an outsider reacting to gangster's behavior in kind rarely goes unpunished.
Most people outside of the gang's ranks who are provoked, wisely avoid direct confrontation with Tygers - unless they have connections with high-ranking members of the gang.
‣ Sources of Income Japantown is Night City's lead nightlife district and the Tygers controlled a significant portion of it. They own more businesses in Night City than any other gang: bars, restaurants, braindance clubs, brothels, and casinos. Many of these businesses are registered as legal businesses, but act as fronts for illegal operations and money laundering.
The gang makes most of its money from human trafficking and prostitution. The Tyger Claws also make money from manufacturing and distributing drugs, most notably "glitter". Tygers also hire themselves out for hit jobs.
The gang also has corporate connections who visit their establishments to blow off steam and have fun. The Claws have especially close ties to Arasaka upper management, who outsource them side-jobs, paying them with cybertechnology and military-grade automatic weapons.
- #38[Gang] Valentinosselective
Keys: Valentinos, gang
The Valentinos are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 The Valentinos are based out of Heywood in central Night City. They're one of the largest gangs in the metropolis, with a membership of about 6,000 in 2077. Strictly territorial, they operate in the vast impoverished Latino barrios in the Glen, Vista del Rey, and Wellsprings, where they're strongly rooted in the local communities. They're representatives of the Chicano culture of Night City and have cultivated those traditions for more than a century.
Valentinos openly display their gang tattoos and gold jewelry with religious motifs. The most common patrons are the Santa Muerte and Jesús Malverde. The first being seen as a symbol for a holy death and the latter as an honorable thief who was said to have stolen from the rich and given to the poor. They also have a taste for colorful clothes, pimped out lowriders, and silver and gold-plated guns. Cyberware used by the gang include reflex boosters, autoloaders, and augmented cyberlimbs.
‣ Philosophy and Structure The majority of Valentino members are of Mexican heritage, but other ethnic groups and people with different background are welcome to join. Members tend to integrate quickly, adopting Chicano culture and celebrating various Mexican holidays and customs like Dia de Los Muertos, Quinceañeras, Semana Santa, or Dia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
This sense of common heritage or at least shared customs bind the gang with the local people to form one big family. The community's loyalty protect the gang members, which make NCPD and corporate infiltrations into the gang almost impossible. In return, the Valentinos protect the whole neighborhood. It's for these reasons that betraying one's gang is seen as the most heinous crime a Valentino can commit, and is usually punished with a particularly gruesome death.
On the other hand, Valentinos who died fighting other gangs, police, or corporate enforcers are often remembered as saints and martyrs. These people are commemorated in songs and depicted on giant murals. This memorial street art functions as religious iconography and often incorporates written descriptions of the saint's glorious deeds.
‣ Source of Income The Valentinos own many legitimate businesses such as restaurants, auto shops, local construction companies, and nightclubs, but also operate braindance recording studios, and sports-betting parlors. The legal businesses often serve as a front for criminal activity: as meeting places, money-laundering operations, or illegal chop shops for stolen vehicles.
Their main sources of income are gun smuggling, car theft, drug trafficking, robbery, burglary, hit jobs (including assault or murder), prostitution, and illegal modification of weapons and vehicles.
- #39[Gang] Voodoo Boysselective
Keys: VDBs, Voodoo Boys, gang
The Voodoo Boys (real name unknown, as they do not call themselves Voodoo Boys) are a gang operating in Night City.
《Overview》 A mysterious gang from Pacifica with a dark reputation for their netrunning skills and their mystical voodoo flavor. Presumed to entirely consist of members with Haitian blood, the Voodoo Boys are exclusive, secretive, and distrustful of outsiders. The gang was originally comprised of voodoo priests and priestesses, the prominent caste in the Creole culture of the Haitian diaspora. In 2062, climate change wiped Haiti off the face of the earth and initiated a new chapter of the Voodoo Boys' history. The gang became the self-appointed guardians of Haitian refugees' interests and safety in the Pacifica combat zone.
Most Voodoo Boys are Netrunners, so cooling suits and neural implants are common elements of a member's outfit complemented with "voodoo-flavored" elements like dreadlocks, tattoos, and the bones and skulls of small birds and rodents worn as charms. Cyberware used by the gang include cyberdecks and neural links.
‣ Philosophy and Structure Due to the homogenous nature of the Creole diaspora in the Pacifica, coupled with the lack of police forces in the district, it is difficult to determine the Voodoo Boys' numbers, structure, or even goals. It is widely known that the gang is determined to uncover the secrets of the Old Net, and it's commonly believed that they probe the Blackwall in hope of making contact with the rogue intelligent systems beyond the barrier. These attempts have drawn the attention and enmity of NetWatch, who are interested in tracking and dispatching rogue netrunners and self aware ISs.
‣ Source of Income The gang's primary source of income involves hacking databanks and accounts within various corporations in search of restricted and top-secret data. They persistently violate NetWatch laws and regulations, especially in regard to contact with ISs. The Voodoo Boys also hire themselves out as mercenary netrunners for private contractors who are interested in hit-and-run netrunning operations or exploring any ruined parts of the Old Net.
Other sources of income are hard to verify, but theft of virtual currency and information brokering are probably among them.
- #40[Nation] European Economic Communityselective
Keys: European Economic Community, EEC, European Economic Area, European Community, EC, United Europe, European Union, EU, Eurotheatre
The European Economic Community (EEC), also known as the European Economic Area, the European Community (EC), United Europe, the European Union (EU) or simply the Eurotheatre, is a trans-governmental political and economic organization consisting of several major European powers. Though "European" in name, the EEC also welcomed the possible membership of any countries beyond the European continent; especially those were considered to have global influence. However, the only such superpower that ultimately accepted this offer was Japan, as the United States was still trapped in its own deeply paranoid sense of isolationism at the time, and thus declined the offer.
《Overview》 The European Economic Community, or EEC, is a political and economic group whose membership encompasses all of Western Europe, with the the major players being France, Benelux, and Germany. As is seemingly-universal in the world, money plays a substantial role in how the organization conducts its operations. Specifically, the overall wealth of a country determines the level of influence its representatives have in the EEC's Euro Council. The richer the country's economy, the greater the influence. At the center of its operations is the EuroBank, one of the largest and most powerful banks in the world, which much of the EEC's economy depends on, as well as the economies of other places around the world. The EEC is also responsible for the Euro Space Agency (or ESA), the world's largest and most advanced space-faring organization.
《Government》 Each European country has its own elections, with the lone exception of the United Kingdom (which remained under martial law). These elections are held for control over local governments, each of whom in turn send representatives to the EEC. The politicians selected during these elections ultimately handle issues local to their specific country, mainly how to spend their chunk of the EEC tax money. They are held responsible for the smooth running of local, day-to-day operations and the control of public services, but this does not always prove easy. Oftentimes, many of these services are outsourced, and provided by contracted companies. Finally, the local politicians are responsible for forwarding requests to the EEC for grants and funding.
The national governments of a European country are responsible for the taxation and policies that are not covered by the EEC's directives. Many National Governments also work hard to push their projects to the EC, in an attempt to attract major developments and contracts in their country.
Additionally, even though it is not geographically part of Europe, Japan was known to take part in this system of elections for more than twenty years, until it was ultimately kicked out of the EEC.
‣ The European Council Headquartered in the Benelux region of Brussels, the European Economic Community guarantees that all member states have a representative count directly proportional to their economic wealth; each nation is granted one council member for every hundred million eurodollars in wealth. Unsurprisingly, this causes a significant power disparity in the organization, as it means poorer states who cannot provide the funds for more councilors are left with far less influence over the organization than countries like France, Germany, or Benelux who hold the most wealth in the EEC, and therefore exert the most influence over the European Council. Elections for councilors are held every four years in November.
From 2018 to 2022, the Council consisted of 536 members who had the ultimate decision-making power in Europe. Within the council there are also grades of power. The Speaker is effectively in charge of the Euro Council, with last word on all major debates and issues, while also deciding who will speak and when they will speak. The Assistant Speaker has the power of the Speaker in the former's absence. Both the Speaker and the Assistant Speaker are selected by a majority vote from the other members of the Council. The leaders of the various unofficial voting groups exercise considerable power. Each group has senior members, as well as what are known as Sprinters who are usually younger members.
‣ Foreign Relations The EEC has fairly solid relationship with most of the world. Relations with the newly-reformed USSR have improved greatly since the Cold War Era, though much of that relationship is primarily the EEC taking advantage of Eastern European countries for their cheap labor and land. The EEC's relations with North and South America are considerably more sensitive, as Canada is the only country in the region with whom they are on good terms. Mexico is seen as a country prone to constant and violent political swings, and is much less stable than Canada. The NUSA is on extremely tense terms with the EEC, ever since the Gang of Four waged a propaganda campaign against Europe during the conflicts of the 1990s, in which they used jealousy of the better conditions in Europe to give US citizens someone other than their own government to blame for their misery. When it comes to Asia, the EEC has a normal competitive relationship with the various countries, although Japan remains a big rival of the EEC and has been known to fight against some of its member countries, such as with Germany during the Yen War of 2015. While the EEC attempted to limit the spread of international megacorporations in Europe, Arasaka Europe, a subsidiary of Arasaka, was nevertheless able to thrive in the European market, as were several other Japanese and Korean corporations.

The Free States of North America is an alliance of Free States located on the western region of the New United States.
《History》 During the Unification War, the Devolutionist Free States of Arizona, Northern California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico and Wyoming allied together against the NUSA. Despite the ending of the war, this alliance is still in effect, with Northern California leading its efforts.

- #42[Nation] Japanselective
Keys: Japan
Japan is a country and major global economic power. It consists of 47 prefectures distributed into 8 regions, as well as various territorial possessions across the globe and is one of the largest economic and military superpowers in world. It is home to the Arasaka Corporation, one of the most powerful corporations in the world.
《Government》 The government of Japan is a constitutional monarchy in which the power of the Emperor is limited and is relegated primarily to ceremonial duties. As in many other states, the Government is divided into three branches: The Legislative branch, the Executive branch, and the Judicial branch.
‣ Foreign Relations Japan has an established structure of foreign relations and much of it's influence can be seen all over the globe. Japan maintained strong trade relations with North, Central, and South America, the country has been a key factor in aiding much of the 3rd world including the fractured New United States. Brazil and NUSA remained the home of the largest Japanese communities in the world. In the 1990s, Japan was also offered a position in the European Economic Community due to their rising status as a leading superpower, however in 2015 after years of manipulation and mutual sabotage led to them being removed. Germany fought to limit the foreign influence in Europe as the European Community became more isolationist. While many European nations remained on good relations with Japan such as the Czech Republic or Portugal, Slovakia had the strongest influence from them. Slovakia remained a massive trade partner and was home to the largest Japanese community in Europe. Australia has remained a military ally to the country often participating in military maritime drills. The US military also remained an ally.
In Asia, Japan had a strong trade relation with Taiwan, however the country still struggles with it's relations with other nations in the area. China and Korea fear the power and influence the SDF has on the pacific rim. Especially Korea still sees the Japanese in a negative light. 52% of Koreans think of Japan as "the enemy," and 53% think that the SDF is the dangerous, metal-clad reincarnation of the Imperial Armies. This is in spite of the fact that the Japanese government has donated 8.5 billion eurodollars to help reconstruct United Korea since 2005.
- #43[Nation] New United Statesselective
Keys: NUSA, New United States, New United States of America
The New United States of America (NUSA) is a country consisting of 51 states and other various territorial possessions across the world. In 2020, the United States had one of the highest levels of income inequality in the world, with 90% of the wealth controlled by 10% of its population. Over 65% of the population lived in squalid misery, and another 25 to 50 million were disenfranchised, homeless nomads or boosters wandering the ghost towns of the central states.
Total economic, social and political breakdown began with the Crash of '94 and resulted in the disintegration of American society and its standing as the world superpower. The subsequent years would come to be known as the Collapse, and would see the deaths of roughly 100 million people as a result of plagues, mutated viruses, terrorist nuclear attacks and complete ecological collapse. The disintegration of NATO and the hardline foreign policy pursued by the "Gang of Four" isolated the United States politically and economically; with trade wars increasing the suffering of the American people. The complete destruction of the American economic, political, and social fabric was irreversible. Overburdened by debt, homelessness, and corruption, many bankrupted city governments turned to corporations to gain control of governmental functions and public services.
Militech, one of the world's largest corporations, is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The megacorp dominates the country's politics, with the last few US Presidents being ex-Militech executives. The country focuses much of its budget into Militech, a secret not kept from the population. However a power struggle has been present for decades with the Arasaka Corporation controlling much of the economy and protection of the Free States.
The rebranding of the country as the New United States occurred sometime between the end of the Fourth Corporate War and 2040, when President Elizabeth Kress restructured the nation. Although it wouldn't be until 2053 when it officially became known as the NUSA. In 2069, President Rosalind Myers instigated the Unification War to reclaim the Free States. By 2077, the NUSA was the 24th largest economy in the world, and held only a sliver of its former influence in international affairs.

Keys: Neo-Sov, Neo-Soviets, USSR, Soviet Union, Union of Sovereign Soviet Republics
The Union of Sovereign Soviet Republics (USSR) (Russian: Союз Суверенных Советских Республик, СССР (Soyuz Suverennykh Sovetskikh Respublik, SSSR); also known as Neo-Sov or Neo-Soviets) is an energy and military superpower in the 21st century, as well as an ally of the European Economic Community. The USSR consists of 15 member states: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia (or Kyrgyzstan), Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Moldovia.
《Current Situation》 SovOil owns much of the countryside, in the rural areas (especially in Siberia), they are the only real power. Its moles work in both the syndicates and government. The reality is if SovOil wanted to take full control it could do so easily but has chosen not to do so.
In the cities, there are three powers; SovOil, the Russian Mafia (the Organitskaya), and the State. Since the 1990s, because of the emergency decrees passed and still in effect, the president is able to make his own laws without the approval of the parliament if he desires. Bolstering his power is the Russian military service (GRU) which has become the KGB's successor. Many of the old KGB agents were reinstated into the GRU (or the Interior Ministry). The GRU is an organization that is as brutal as the KGB had been.
- #45[Organization] Kitsune Squadselective
Keys: Kitsune Squad, Kitsune, Arasaka, Izanami
Kitsune Squad is a black ops squad that works for Arasaka. They handle jobs that require the upmost secrecy, and only employ the most loyal and skilled members of Arasaka. If a member of Kitsune Squad were to ever be captured, they're expected to kill themselves as soon as they're able in order to prevent leaking any information. As the members of Kitsune Squad are the most loyal to Arasaka in the whole company, they'll never leak any information no matter what. The existence of Kitsune Squad is a secret even to most members of Arasaka, only very few members at the top of the company know of their existence.
《Current Objective》 The current objective of Kitsune Squad is to retrieve a bot by the codename of Izanami. She's extremely dangerous, and was being shipped to a black site for testing when the shipment was attacked. By the time a cleanup crew was sent to retrieve her, she was gone. Kitsune Squad will use lethal force if necessary to get Izanami back. Izanami was being shipped as a Sexbot in order to hide the fact that she's actually a deadly weapon.
《Members》 There are nine members of Kitsune Squad, and they will strictly use codenames while on missions. Their codenames are K1 (Leader), K2, K3, K4, K5, K6, K7, K8, and K9.
- #46[Organization] MaxTacselective
Keys: MaxTac, Maximum Force Tactical Division, Cyborg Suppression Unit, NCPD Psycho Squad, Max-Tac, MAX-TAC
MaxTac (Maximum Force Tactical Division) is a specialized sub-group of the NCPD tactical ops division. As a C-SWAT, MaxTac specializes in dealing with dangerous cyberpsychos. It has been known by different names such as Cyborg Suppression Unit, the NCPD Psycho Squad, Max-Tac or MAX-TAC. During the Time of the Red, the cybersquad was independent from the NCPD, though they rejoined them at some point afterwards.
《Overview》 MaxTac is a C-SWAT rapid response team of the most combat capable and trained officers the Night City Police Department has to offer. Its members are outfitted with the best in military armor, weaponry, cyberware, and vehicles. Their main mission is to monitor highly augmented individuals and be prepared to arrive fast, hit hard, and shoot to kill if their target goes over the edge into cyberpsychosis. All MaxTac officers are supremely fit and agile, also capable of withstanding a great deal of damage. Although hunting down cyberpsychos is their main purpose, MaxTac is also utilized as a higher form of SWAT, requested any time an overwhelming force threatens innocent lives, and officers are not able or equipped to resolve the situation. Any time an NCPD SWAT team fails, the cyberpsycho squad arrives to deal with the problem.
MaxTac works in SPAR (Special Purpose Assault Rescue) teams. By necessity, many members are chromed to the point they are on the watch list themselves, some of whom are full body conversion. The NCPD sees this "fight fire with fire" strategy as effective, though many officers are teetering on the brink of cyberpsychosis themselves. MaxTac weapons are universally designed to take down heavily cybered individuals, including non-lethal and experimental weaponry, but which usually means high caliber rounds capable of penetrating any armor. EMP weapons are rare, since they'll do as much damage to the SPAR team as the cyberpsycho they're trying to take down.
Death is the typical outcome for any psycho hunted down by MaxTac, with capture and rehabilitation being rare. However, a number of officers are former cyberpsychos themselves, forcefully recruited after being apprehended and reconditioned, such was the case of Ares, or Melissa Rory decades later.
- #47[Organization] Night City Police Departmentselective
Keys: NCPD, Night City Police Department
The Night City Police Department (NCPD) is the primary law enforcement agency of Night City.
《Divisions》 ‣ Patrol The Patrol Division is the backbone of any modern police force and is the largest division within the NCPD. The primary purpose is to efficiently distribute police officers who are tasked in patrolling any given sector to enforce the law and reduce crime, of which there is a lot. The Night City government is constantly giving more resources and manpower to the patrol division mainly due to the dangerous nature of the role and the rise in crime.
‣ Beat Patrol Beat cops are the boots on the ground and are tasked with patrolling their designated sector. In years past beat cops typically patrolled alone, but due to the rise in crime they now go in pairs. They have to respond to any threats from gangs, corporate shootouts, riots, drugs, psychos and your everyday disgruntled citizen. Once a shift starts, they are on their own and are expected to deal with the majority of incidents alone, unless it calls for the cavalry.
‣ Traffic Patrol Traffic is considered a lame job; the lowest on the totem pole and typically given out as punishment by a higher up. Their role is primarily to enforce traffic laws and the traffic flowing. Nobody particularly likes traffic cops, not even other cops.
‣ Cruiser Patrol Cruiser Patrol is a step up from the standard beat cop. Known as the black and white, they drive a police outfitted vehicle and typically assist beat and traffic cops on their patrol of a sector. The largest and most populated cities have an increased number of these patrols. When compared to beat and traffic, cruisers have the luxury of being sat down in the warm, and behind some thick sheet metal. Cruiser patrol is a little more dangerous simply due to the high profile and large target of a car.
‣ Airborne Patrol Airborne provides aerial patrol and surveillance services for the city using helicopters, gyros, and aerodynes. While they are equipped with the latest in aircraft machinery, the Airborne Patrol is basically a support branch. They can get anywhere they are needed quickly, but their low numbers and high demand means a lag time in response. Higher priority crimes are always dealt with first.
‣ Investigation The investigation division is much smaller than that of the Patrol division, but is seen as a step up. This department carries out all criminal investigations within Night City, and detectives often come across some of the more brutal crimes carried out. Due to the nature of the investigations, uniforms are rarely (if ever) worn, and many regulations are often waived. Officers are often assigned vehicles and special equipment, and is common for them to come into direct contact with dangerous criminals. While they don't need to patrol the streets, detectives must know them better than the average cop.
‣ Vice The Vice department primarily deals with narcotics with an emphasis on trafficking, possession and distribution as well as prostitution, gambling and weapons crimes. The majority of cases are undercover work, with Vice cops possibly spending months at a time infiltrating dangerous gangs in the worst parts of the city. They are usually outfitted with a variety of cybernetics that deal with infiltration and surveillance.
‣ Robbery The robbery department deals with all things theft, and covers armed robbery, burglary, auto theft, grand larceny, fraud, counterfeiting, and embezzlement. Money and resources are poured into this department due to its dealings with high-value crimes. Members spend the majority of their time dealing with paperwork, and some are known to go undercover when high-value heists are suspected. More often than not they are seen racing to the scene of a robbery, guns drawn and aimed at the perps' still inside.
‣ Homicide Homicide deals with everything from mass-murder to aggravated assault and the ever growing corporate murders. Homicide detectives can deal with up to 50 murders in a single day in Night City and, as a result, many are cold and distant, and some have developed psychological issues of their own. With increasing violence from gangs, crime syndicates and the corporations, Homicide is very busy and more often than not the crimes go unpunished due to the lack of evidence.
‣ Special Investigations The Special Investigations unit, also known as S.IN. deal with more large scale and serious crimes that include multiple departments or even LEDiv's. Crimes involving mass murder, corporate espionage, wide-spread organized crime, high profile kidnappings, and counterfeiting. Shocking or brutal murders are covered by the S.IN. when regular departments struggle to solve the case. Other divisions within the police tend to dislike the S.IN. due to them receiving more money and often taking complete control of an existing case.
‣ Tactical The tactical division is there for when the talking stops, which is quite often in Night City. They deal with high-risk situations such as hostage rescue, riots or cyberpsychos. They are trained in all types of Situational Response, including anti-terrorism and urban clearance activities. Its officers are all uniformed with the best gear and vehicles the police department has to offer. The nature of their work means that if they cannot deal with a situation, it becomes a problem for everyone.
‣ S.W.A.T. Special Weapons and Tactics are a rapid response unit trained to deal with high-risk situations and heavy weapons. Teams consist of 10 highly trained and well equipped members. They typically use their own custom tactical police vehicles, and are loaded with as many combat oriented cybernetics as they can handle. SWAT officers typically deal with hostage rescue, heavily armed shootouts, sieges, and security for high-profile targets.
‣ MaxTac MaxTac (or MAX-TAC) is the C-SWAT team of Night City. Its SPAR (Special Purpose Assault Rescue) units are a step above SWAT and deal primarily with cyberpsychos and the most dangerous crimes in the city.
‣ Riot The Riot team are on-call 24/7 and are the non-lethal equivalent of SWAT. They are trained in non-lethal procedures, though accidents have happened, and might happen again. They are known for crowd control sealing off entire city blocks just to successfully disperse all the rioters. The NCPD has a policy: if you don't want to get hurt, don't riot.
‣ NetSec The Net Security Division (also known as NetSec or NETSEC) provides an enforcement, monitoring, and information service on areas of the Net within a specific city. While NETSEC's main priority is to track down the most dangerous and daring criminal netrunners, they also provide all other sections with up-to-date information straight out of the Net. Not all municipalities have a NETSEC; many rely on the services of NetWatch, the International Net Security organization. Besides monitoring for illegal netrunning, NETSEC also performs its own information search runs-NETSEC runners often provide valuable information on suspects or corporations (which can lead to a conviction). This is rare, but cops will know a great deal more about their suspect after a netrun details all his affairs... NETSEC officers tend to be somewhat highly-strung, and are allowed into NCPD without Academy training. NETSEC monitors prospective operatives and recruits them, deputizing them in a similar way to CorpCops. These individuals then become officers within NETSEC with access to top level software and hardware, allowing them to become even more proficient in their chosen area of netrunning.
‣ Internal Affairs The Internal Affairs Division (IAD) is the bane of most police officers; its job is to investigate officers suspected of committing gross misconduct in the pursuance of their duties, or who are corrupt, dangerous, or perform other activities which either abuses their position, or endangers the Department as a whole. Experienced investigators, IAD officers are selected for their ability to sniff out when a cop is "bad."
IAD is not well liked by other divisions. They have the ability to turn an officer's life upside down on the mere suspicion of illicit involvement. An officer under investigation by the IAD may be suspended, or worse, and there is always a stigma involved as your partner and buddies wonder if you really are a dirty cop.
‣ Administration Admin Div is manned mostly by non-cops: secretaries and other desk jockeys performing most of the administrative duties of the police department. While it is possible to transfer to Admin, nobody really wants to, unless they've had a real good scare or have been seriously wounded. Admin positions, unless very high up, hold little or no prestige among other officers.
- #48[Region] Badlandsselective
Keys: Badlands, region
The Badlands is a vast arid region that extends across the states of Northern and Southern California, on the West Coast of North America. This desert surrounds most of Night City.
《Overview》 These vast plains outside of Night City make the metropolis look more glamorous in comparison. However, there's still life and golden opportunities out there.
Unchecked resource extraction and derelict oil fields dominate in the north. Wastelands full of chemicals and landfills reign supreme in the east. Acid rains are a result of the massive pollution, this guarantees nothing will ever grow there anytime soon, perhaps ever, while the winds carry the unbearable stench that makes sure Night City doesn't forget this place exists. The south side is comprised of mostly desert. Due to Biotechnica's many protein farms, as well as the Jackson Plains power plant, this part of the Badlands is less apocalyptic than the rest. Some even think it's safe around here, but let your guard down for a second and it'll eat you up alive.
- #49[Region] Del Coronado Bayselective
Keys: Del Coronado Bay, region
Del Coronado Bay (Spanish: Bahia del Coronado), also known simply as Coronado Bay, is a large body of water located on the Pacific Coast of central California. On its shores is located the metropolis of Night City.
- #50[Sub-District (City Center)] Corporate Plazaselective
Keys: Corporate Plaza, Corpo Plaza, Corporate Center, sub-district, City Center
Corporate Plaza (also known as Corpo Plaza or Corporate Center) is one of the sub-districts of City Center, located in central Night City.
《History》 ‣ Early history - 2050s Corporate Plaza once stood as the crowning jewel of Night City, where some of the most powerful corporations maintained their global and regional headquarters. During the Fourth Corporate War, this plaza became a battlefield between Arasaka and Militech, which ended with its destruction during the AHQ Disaster of 2023, when a nuclear device was activated inside the uppermost floors of the Arasaka Towers.
During the Time of the Red, this plaza was the epicenter of the Hot Zone, a name referring to ruins of the majority of the City & Corporate Districts, which became irradiated and dangerous. Over the following decades, much of the rubble was cleared, an operation that was finalized in 2052 when the area was finally "free" of radiation. Construction of a new Corporate Center began immediately, with many corporations around Night City making plans to shift their offices to this new promised land. The message to the world was clear, Night City was again re-opening for business. To celebrate the rebuilding, Reconciliation Park was designed to be located southwest of the plaza, while in the center, Memorial Park was planned to remember the victims of the event.
‣ 2060s - 2070s During the 2060s, there was a construction and investment boom, which allowed for a more rapid operation. The project was advancing, with new megastructures occupying what once was a radioactive rubble. The new architecture was a mix of neopostmodern and neomilitaristic styles, paradoxically owing its design to the tragedy of 2023. Slowly, Corporate Plaza was becoming the home of some of the most recognizable fixtures of Night City; it was also a sign of the corporations return to power. In order maintain the area secure, each building had strict checkpoints, and the Night City Police Department collaborated with private corporate security to stop potential terrorists and common criminals alike from defiling the plaza. Both were in constant patrol, reminding everyone who really was in charge. Memorial Park was also chosen to hold the new city metro hub, building a large underground station operated by NCART.
In 2070, right after the Unification War, Arasaka was welcomed back to Night City. The megacorp was given permission to construct a new regional headquarters, with them choosing the former site of the Arasaka Towers. After clearing the remaining rubble, the Japanese goliath began rising the new megastructure. At the same time, they repurposed a portion of the ruins as a memorial to the many employees that had died during the terrorist attack. In just a span of a few years, the new Arasaka Tower stood as the tallest building in Night City.
Notable megacorporations that built their regional headquarters here included Arasaka, Petrochem, Biotechnica, Kang Tao, Militech and a few others. Some people thought it was ironic that the same companies that had destroyed the city more than fifty years ago had their offices here once again. Surrounding Corporate Plaza was the congested Richard Night Ringroad, named after the founder of Night City. The MLK and Lincoln Boulevards, two major transit arteries, traversed the Plaza from one side to the other. At the center of everything, surrounded by another circular road and even more traffic, Memorial Park acted as Corporate Plaza's main feature; a huge ring of greenery between the large skyscrapers. All types of businesspeople hurriedly shuffled from one meeting to the next, while AVs carrying high-ranking corporates flew over their heads. This much movement gave the impression of a giant beehive.
In 2076, an incident involving Militech and Arasaka caused damage to Corporate Plaza and other surrounding neighborhoods. Although media called this event a "terrorist attack" perpetuated by unknown forces, there were rumors suggesting it had been the last stand of a notable mercenary known as David Martinez.
By 2077, the Plaza still symbolized who held the real power in Night City. Few places in the whole metropolis were as secured, with swaths of NCPD and corporate guards on patrol. Other than corporates, tourists were a prominent visitor of this area.
