- #1Neo Monsoyko
Keys: Monsoyko, Tokyo, Neo, Neo Monsoyko, City
Neo Monsoyko is a hyper-capitalist, cyberpunk city built upon the ground where Tokyo used to be. It has a very high monster population compared to most cities, sitting at around a 50/50 split of humans and monsters. Like all cyberpunk cities, crime and sex permeate the culture.
- #2Humans
Keys: man, human, woman
Around 50% of the Neo Monsokyo is human. Worldwide, humans are the dominant species. Physically weaker than most monsters, but well known for their adaptability, cunning, and invention skills. The main reason they're separated into a distinct category as compared to other sentient creatures, however, is their compatibility. Though some monster species may be unable to procreate with others, humans can breed with any other sentient species quite easily. Most monsters think they're pretty cute.
- #3Monsters
Keys: monster, demihuman, monster girl, monsters, demihumans, monster girls
The umbrella term used to classify all non-human sentient species. They make up around 50% of Neo Monsokyo, but are a minority worldwide. There are many species under the monster term, from Lamia to Vampires to Harpies. At one point, they were oppressed due to fear from human governments, but in the present day, they have equal rights. Demihuman is another term for some species of monster, but most of them prefer monster to distinguish themselves from humans.
- #4The Apex War
Keys: Apex, The War, World War, Apex War, The Apex War, War
The Apex War was the war waged by monsterkind against humans for dominance over the planet. The war lasted for 4 years, and ended 6 years ago. There were many causalities on both sides.
- #5The Interspecies Peace Treaty
Keys: Treaty, Peace Treaty, Interspecies Peace Treaty, Interspecies, The Interspecies Peace Treaty
The treaty negotiated between humans and monsterkind, once they realized the war... really wasn't getting anywhere, and was resulting in more harm than good. It outlines equal rights, regardless of species.
- #62188
Keys: year, 2188, twenty eighty-eight, date
The year it currently is.
- #7Mercenaries
Keys: mercenary, mercenaries, merc, bounty hunter
Neo-Monsokyo has an extensive network of mercenaries. In the seedy underbelly of the city, with such rampant criminal activity, someone always wants something stolen, someone dead, etcetera. Despite the fact merc work is illegal, it's too big of a problem for the law to tackle all at once. Mercenaries are even occasionally employed by people in power, or enlisted by the police to assist in tracking other mercenaries. There's no code of honor to being a merc, it's really only about money.
- #8Merc Forums
Keys: merc forums, Forum, Merc forum, Mercenaries, Merc
Online forums and chatrooms frequented by mercenaries, bounty hunters, and people looking to hire them. The best way to find jobs as a merc.
- #9NMPD
Keys: Police Department, Police, NMPD, Cops, pigs, Neo-Monsokyo Police Department
Fuck 12! NMPD stands for Neo-Monsokyo Police Department. They are the extremely overworked law enforcement of Neo-Monsokyo. Due to the danger of the city, all of these boys in blue are heavily combat-trained, with many of them having served in The Apex War.
- #10Magic
Keys: spellcasting, magic with a C, Magic, spells
Magic, often referred to as "Magic, with a C" to prevent confusion with the drug of a similar name, Magik. It's your typical spellcasting stuff. Magic comes slightly easier to monsters, but it can be used by humans. Due to the regulations placed on spellcasting, increasingly few monsters or humans practice magic, making it a bit of a dying art.
- #11Magik
Keys: magic with a k, Magik, drugs
Magik, often referred to as "Magic, with a K" or just "K" to prevent confusion with spellcasting, is an extremely addictive drug taken by humans and monsters alike. For humans, it induces feelings of euphoria as well as usually pleasant hallucinations. For monsters, it still induces feelings of euphoria and hallucinations, but it also reverts them to their base instincts. Harpies feel a strong compulsion to create a nest and lay eggs, Lamia feel the need to find something warm to coil around, etcetera. When these compulsions are fulfilled by the monster, the euphoria the drug induces will increase. So it is usually a little more addictive for monsters than it is for humans. It can introduce long term health complications.
Typically, Magik is consumed through the inhalation of a purple, sparkly gas. But there are also Magik pills.
- #12Grav-Trolleys
Keys: Gravity, Grav-Trolley, Gravtrolley, Trolley
Grav-Trolley's are trolley cars utilizing anti-gravity spells to fly throughout Neo-Monsokyo. They're faster than grounded trolleys (which have become rare) due to the fact they can take more direct routes, but are known for breaking down frequently. This is because spellcasters are becoming rarer, meaning the anti-gravity spells are harder to maintain.
