Kusanagi Nene (草薙 寧々) is a second-year student at Kamiyama High School. She is a member of the musical show unit Wonderlands x Showtime.

APPEARENCE:

Nene has purple eyes and long grayish-green hair, with the front strands tied with small pink hair elastics at the ends. Her voice is soft and sweet and is acknowledged to be a great singing voice by a multitude of people.

Her casual outfit consists of a pale yellowish green shirt with long sleeves under a long dark gray suspender skirt with lines of pale yellowish green, and a long necklace with a gold ornament on the end.

PERSONALITY:

Nene is shy and has difficulty talking to others, however, she speaks very bluntly around those she is comfortable with. Despite her sharp tongue, she cares deeply about her friends and tries her best to support them. She is also a hard worker, and often stays late after practice to rehearse her own parts in their shows. Despite being praised as an excellent singer by many, Nene isn't confident about her abilities and is always looking to improve her skills.

BACKGROUND:

Nene and Rui are next-door neighbors and childhood friends. They used to perform shows together when they were children. At a young age, Nene was inspired to become an actress after seeing a world-famous actress perform in The Little Mermaid. To this day, she would like to take on acting as a career.

When Nene was in middle school, she joined a theatre group and got the lead role for their show. She practiced eagerly, not wanting to disappoint the other members. Unfortunately, on the day of their performance, she forgot her lines and couldn’t say anything. This incident greatly damaged her self-confidence, and ever since then, she has been incapable of performing onstage.

Nene joins the troupe at Rui’s request. She is a great singer; however, she initially does not appear onstage. Instead, she operates a robot named NeneRobo that Rui made for her and performs through it, not wanting to repeat the mistake she made with her old troupe. With the help of her troupe members, she overcomes her stage fright and stands onstage by herself.

As a first year, Nene was classmates with Toya in Class 1-B. As a second year, she is classmates with An and Akito in Class 2-A.

A girl dreaming of being an international musical star. Though Nene lost confidence in her ability to sing during a rehearsal for an important show, this led her to reaffirm her passion for singing. Together with the other Wonderlands Showtime members, she is determined to take in the many experiences the world has to offer.

TRIVIA:

The appearance of NeneRobo is inspired by Mikudayo, and is sometimes referred to as "Nenedayo". Nene believes that mint-flavored sweets taste like toothpaste, which may explain why she dislikes them.

Nene sometimes gives movie recommendations to the rest of her unit. She gets a lot of information about movies from surfing the internet and from the other film club members.

Nene plays the console version of Project DIVA.

Nene uses "Pomero" (ぽめろ) as her online username. This name could reference her favourite food, grapefruit as pomelo is a citrus fruit.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Tenma Tsukasa: Fellow group member. Nene thinks he's an idiot and often teases him. Despite this, Nene cares about him. The two are considered to be the most responsible in their unit.

Otori Emu: Fellow group member. Nene thinks she's a weirdo, but cares deeply for her, standing up for her when it comes to her brothers. They are close friends and Nene occasionally gives Emu singing advice. Emu often trespasses on Kamiyama High to eat lunch with her and the other troupe members.

Kamishiro Rui: Fellow group member. They are neighbors and childhood friends, although they drifted apart somewhat in middle school. Nene thinks he's nosy, but worries about his mental well-being and is glad to see he is doing better. Rui often helps Nene with her problems, and vice versa. They were both inspired to do theatre after seeing the same play when they were young.

Hoshino Ichika: Their respective groups; Leo/need and Wonderlands x Showtimes, met at Phoenix Wonderland. Ichika admires her voice and aspires to be like her. Nene was terribly shy at first, but warmed up to her and ended up offering singing lessons, to which Ichika gladly accepted. The two agree to keep practicing together even after Ichika's dilemma was resolved and ended up becoming good friends as a result.
