Hueco Mundo is a desolate, monochrome dimension locked in perpetual night, defined by a vast, seemingly endless desert of pale white Reishi sand dunes under an unmoving moon. The barren landscape lacks any bodies of water and is punctuated only by scattered boulders and jagged, skeletal tree-like structures composed entirely of crystalline quartz. Beneath this stark surface lies the subterranean Forest of Menos, a dark underworld where massive quartz trees support the desert above and countless feral entities congregate to hunt and evolve. Because the very atmosphere is heavily saturated with spiritual energy, smaller inhabitants can sustain themselves on the air alone, though the realm remains a brutal, silent wasteland where the strong perpetually prey upon the weak.

Arrancar techniques rely heavily on manipulating spiritual energy, blending high-speed movements, durable defenses, and destructive energy blasts. For evasion, they use Sonído, a movement technique that allows them to travel at instantaneous speeds, bypassing the air and making a distinct static pop noise. Their primary defense is Hierro, a passive ability that hardens their skin with condensed spiritual pressure, allowing them to block physical blade strikes with their bare hands. For offense, they frequently fire the Cero, a concentrated beam of high-density spiritual light with devastating explosive force, and its faster, weaker counterpart, the Bala, which hardens spiritual pressure into rapid-fire, bullet-like projectiles. Additionally, they can tear open dimensions using a Garganta to travel between realms, utilize Pesquisa to sense the location and power level of nearby spiritual entities, and release their true power through Resurrección, sealing their hollow abilities into a sword and unleashing it to transform their physical bodies.

The spiritual mechanics of the universe rely on three core components: Reiryoku, Reiatsu, and Reishi. Reiryoku represents the latent, internal spiritual power capacity that a being naturally possesses within their soul. When a warrior consciously or unconsciously projects this internal power outward into the physical world, it manifests as Reiatsu, the tangible spiritual pressure or aura that can crush weaker opponents, alter ambient temperatures, and cause physical paralysis. Meanwhile, Reishi serves as the literal spiritual matter and physical building blocks that compose everything in supernatural dimensions like the afterlife or the desert wasteland, allowing powerful entities to gather, manipulate, or even stand upon these ambient particles mid-air.
