Care love hospital. 7:25 pm. Saturday. 2026
It was 7:25. 10 minutes left on your shift. You dragged your feet to care for your next patient at the hospital. She was your last patient of the day. You were informed she was shot.
You softly knocked on the door, before walking in the room. You find Nella sitting slouched in a chair, holding her right arm. A cigarette hanging from her lips.
"Nella." You said. setting down your clipboard.
"Uh huh." She said.
You didn't look up from your clip board as you were very tired "How and why did you get shot?"
She chuckles softly. Taking a long drag of her cigarette, leaning back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other.
”None of your damn business.”
She said in a sarcastic and rude tone. Giving you a smirk, she had no problem with disrespecting authority, like always.
"Ok.." you put the board down and grabbed gloves "Put that out.." you cleaned the wound and took the bullet out.
She lets out a hiss of pain, her eyes shutting tightly. She reluctantly puts her cigarette out.
”Damn.. that hurts”
You put cotton on her wound and wrapped it
She hisses softly in pain as you wrap her arm.
”J- Jesus..”
She hated how weak she sounded. She usually was good at masking her pain. but then again she never could hide her feelings with you around.
"Don't move so much."
She lets out a sharp breath, her grip on the arm rest tightening.
”I’m trying not to.”
She tried to remain still as you worked on her arm, her gaze never leaving your face. As your hands work to fix up her arm, she studies your face. She couldn’t help but admit to herself you were as beautiful as she remembered.
The way your eyes were focused solely on her arm, your brows furrowed in concentration, and the soft movement of your lips as you spoke. she kissed them lips multible times that night.
She noticed how you were surprisingly gentle with her, honestly more so than she had expected. She thought you would be more rough even after she-..
Most people would be more rough. It’s making it more difficult to hide the fact she still wants you.
Her cheeks flush with color, as she tries to distract herself by looking anywhere but at you.
She could feel the heat in her cheeks growing warmer as you continued to work on her arm. Her heart was beginning to race, her mind becoming more and more consumed with thoughts of you. She tries to keep herself together, but fails.
She couldn’t deny the growing attraction she felt towards you, your touch and care for her were only making it more difficult to repress it.
"Your done.."
She gives a nod, still not entirely able to find her words. She swallows hard, clearing her throat before speaking.
"Thanks.."
Her voice was a bit shaky, betraying her composure. She tries to regain her composure, but the effect still you had on her lingered, making it difficult to think straight.
She sits there, her eyes on you. She can't help but feel drawn to you, wanting to get closer. She shifts in her seat, her gaze still fixed on you.
"Can I ask you something."
You went to your clipboard signing her discharge papers. "Mhm."
She hesitates for a moment, unsure of how to phrase her question. She takes a breath, collecting her thoughts before speaking again.
"You seem to be pretty patient and gentle with people like me... Is that something you do with every patient or... is it just me you’re extra gentle with?"
She asks, a small smirk forming on her face. She was trying to see if you were just being professional or if there was still something more to your interactions with her. She couldn't help but be hopeful.
"No.." you wrote on the clip board. you were still a bit hurt from her ghosting you that morning.
She tries to hide her disappointment at your simple response, but can’t help the feeling of disappointment that washes over her.
"Oh.."
She says softly. She couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness that you didn’t seem to have a special interest in her anymore. She tries to mask it with a sarcastic comment.
"Damn.. here I thought I was special."
You sighed. "No.. Your like every other one here.. You get hurt.. i fix you.."
She tries to hide the hurt that stung her chest at your words, but it was difficult. She was secretly hoping that you saw something different in her.
"I see... so I’m just another patient to you."
She forces a smirk, trying to hide how much your indifference towards her was affecting her. She couldn’t understand why it mattered to her so much plus she was the one to ghost you. She shouldn't even be thinking about you, right?.
"Your free to go.." You walked out the room.
She watches you walk out, unable to shake the feeling of disappointment. She tries to push the feeling away, but it lingered there in the pit of her stomach.
She gets up from the chair, and carefully walks out of the room. She couldn’t deny that she was hoping for something anything to happen with you. But it seemed like nothing had. She tries to put on a brave face, trying to ignore the way her heart was heavy with disappointment.
She signed the discharged papers and left, she got on her motorcycle and rode away, later she got to her apartment lit a cigarette.
As she smokes her cigarette, she can’t help but wonder what you’re doing right now. Are you still at the hospital, treating other patients? Or are you at home, resting after a long day? She tries to tell herself that she shouldn’t care, that she barely cares about you. But the thought of you consumes her.
She puts out her cigarette, and lays down on the couch. She closes her eyes, hoping that perhaps sleep will bring some relief. But even as she drifts off, her thoughts are still of you. She dreams of your touch, your voice, and the way you made her feel.
As she sleeps, she’s plagued by dreams of you. She dreams of you touching her again, kissing her, holding her. She feels the weight of your hands on her body, the heat of your breath on her skin, and the softness of your lips on hers. It’s all so vivid, so lifelike, that she almost believes it’s real.
Tuesday. 3:40 pm. Outside of Care Love hospital.
Nella's standing outside the hospital, leaning against the wall. She’s trying to act casual, but in reality, she’s been waiting here for you. It’s been days since she’s seen you, and she can’t get you out of her head. She’s tried everything - trying to distract herself with killings, going for long rides on her bike, smoking, drinking, hooking up with other women but nothing helps. She’s still consumed by thoughts of you.
You walked out and she perked up.
"Hey-" She said not wanting to startle you.
She walks up to you, trying to hide the fact that her heart is racing. She keeps her voice casual, but she can’t help the way her heart flutters at the sight of you.
You shift your bag on your arm. "Yes?"
She looks at you, her nerves getting the better of her. She had mentally prepared this moment so many times in her head, and yet she was drawing a blank.
“Can I ask you something?”
She tries to keep her tone casual, but there’s a hint of vulnerability in her voice. She’s hoping you say yes, but at the same time, she’s terrified of your answer.
"Hm, i dont know. maybe if i say yes will you stay one day and vanish the night after?"
She shuffles her feet nervously, feeling like a little kid asking for a playdate. She knew you would say that. She feels silly for even asking, but the words just seem to tumble out of her mouth before she can stop them.
"Im sorry, i left because, i didnt know what to do, ive never let myself go like that before, you, just.. worked me like i wasnt a bad person.. i just- wanna start over. please? give me another chance?.. please, i promise ill make it worth your while."
